Oh I know about that blockakusa.(funny name) I’ve seen a match where it was used. I like to do s.mp hayate cancel s.lk then do the late canceled Karakusa. But ok I get it a lil more. I haven’t read the first pages on this thread. Just wanted to get some questions answered thanks alot man. Appreciate it.
Mash that shit son. J/k.
No for real. Mash Fukiage. It’ll be all good. If it dosen’t work just doe FA3, dash HP Hayate>LP Fuki>EX Tsurugi. Very similar damage and stun i think.
Its funny, my best friend plays dudley/gief and i can’t EVER grab him. No matter how many fukiag(i) I hit him with he ALWYAS holds up. I punish him over and over and over and over lmao. But sometimes i try to get him and HE’S STILL HOLDING UP lmao. He’ll never learn. But still, no matter how many times i beat him he still wont’ let me grab him with karakusa. Is so unsatisfying. Like iPhone 4S unsatisfying
PLEASE don’t do s.MP hayate cancel into Blockakusa. there is no need for it. s.MP HC is even on block, but s.MP is +2 on block, so you can get thrown in between the Hayate cancel and s.LK. if they mash. OH and if they have a 3 frame light you’ll eat a COUNTER HIT. No. Please don’t do this. There is no need for s.MP Hayate cancel anymore.
Just do s.MP, s.LK Karakara. (blockakusa). Its completely frame tight. they must jump or super/ultra/SRK out (whatever move they do must already be buffered by the time they’re hit with s.LK, otherwise they lose cause their move wont’ come out.
Three posts in a row. I know you all hate me but whatever, i’m tired. lemme’lone lol.
BEAST.
iPhone 4S unsatisfying? I don’t think it gets any more unsatisfying than that. But you illustrated my point brilliantly. Sometimes you don’t even have to attempt the Karakusa because your opponent is waaaay too afraid of it. I think your friend should do the math, though. The damage he’s taking from multiple Fukis into juggles is probably more than eating a Karakusa once in a while.
No sir. he will never learn. Never learn. NEVER LEARN. I yell and scream at him “STOP JUMPING DAMMIT” like vryu and the sagat player (stop doing SRK!!!) but he keeps doing it anyway. Even though I get the damage it is so goddam frustrating because i’m working on “training my opponent” but he wont learn lol. So i never get a chance to practice the *really good *shit you know?. OH… Then when i take a chance i eat:
j.HK, f.MP, s.LP, s.MP, s.LP, s.HK, LK Ducking upper FADC s.LP, s.MP, s.MK, s.LP, s.HK, EX MGB, LK Ducking Upper FADC (first hit) LK Ducking straight, HP Jet Upper. (or something like that)
Yes that’s 5 bars, and if you think he doesn’t build a bar after that FADC you are sadly mistaken.
AND i’m in the corner.
AND now i’m on my back.
AND i have 0 wakeup options.
AND his oki is GDLK
AND wtf.
I’m just saying. This dude never learns so i have to play boring. normal shit. can’t teach this dude how to fall for my MAK OH TOE TRICKS!!!
Landing Karakusa is more about conditioning your opponent. Hypothetically, lets say you have been safe jumping every single knockdown. After eating one combo and putting them into various mixup situations they aren’t going to try to reversal you again (and if they do you’ve already won). You’ve now successfully eliminated one of their options. Now you know they can only jump, backdash or block (lets say). Vryu’s karakusa OS fukiage covers all of these options. This is a very simple explanation of what I mean but you get the idea. If they are mashing a three frame normal you can always frame trap/ex karakusa/tsurugi, etc etc. She has a lot of offensive options but most of them require insight on the part of the player.
We have one of the best Makoto players in the world here and if he isnt the best player hes certainly the best Makoto theorycrafter (vryu). Use it to your advantage. Ask as many questions as you possibly can.
just make sure to be carefule about using the OS. It is important to note that the OS combats primarily defensive options. It loses to almost all offensive options that most opponents can (and probably will) use like:
-throw
-mashing crouch tech
-instant over head
-dive kick
-SRK
-tatsu
-most super
-all ultras
Just be very careful and read the opponent. This should be a very intelligently used OS, and should only be used on a proper read.
I honestly think he should learn when to dash before he learns when to karakusa. what do you think?
Coming from Gief I approached Makoto from the viewpoint that if you go for command grabs early in rounds/sets then the opponent gets conditioned to avoid them. Using her tools that convince them not to jump or mash seem more crucial over the long haul. I have the same mindset with dash in. If it becomes a recognizable strategy it is easier to counter when you actually really need to use it.
The toughest thing I am finding is being able to read people quickly enough to take 2/3 games. So having the awareness to have more than 1 “mode” seems really key too.
Well, considering that he isn’t a beginner and that he was working on something quite advanced I assumed that he had things like movement down. I’m not sure if he had a problem with karakusa. It seemed moreso that he had a problem know when and how to use the option select. The only thing i wanted to point out was that he has to learn to read his opponent and make an educated guess on what they will do next. Only use the OS, which generally beats all defensive options. That’s just my opinion though. We can back track if anyone likes… to talk about movement or other basics if he needs it, but i was assuming that his prior experience with Juri and Ibuki (especially Juri though) had those covered…
Oh wow thanks lol. And from the little discussion above, movement isn’t so much a problem as just landing karakusa. I’m currently trying out OS’s and just trying overall to read people better. Trade Fukiage into Fukiage or just jc. Matchups too but I’ll just check the matchup section and ask from over there. Also Mossad Man knows what he is talking from just the thing about juri and ibuki walk speed lol.
thank you mossad man!
but if i start from FA3 after stunning opponent
i’ll better stick with this
FA3, HP Fukiage, HP Fukiage, EX Tsurugi = 322 damage.
FA3, IA MK Tsurugi, s.HP xx**EX Hayate, LP Fukiage = 330 damage.
which is much easier for me since i cannot get the fully charged hayate done once
or just FA3 fukiage Jhp mp oroshi reset
btw
FA3, dash HP Hayate>LP Fuki>EX Tsurugi
can use little charged mp hayate for slightly more damage
vryu why aren’t we touching penises right now? I need to absorb your power.
Hey.
I’m having a lot of trouble to do a FFS (Fierce, feint, strong; right? ) I manage to do the s.HP into an hayate cancel (wich I “cancel” with lp+lk) but I almost never hit with the s.MP, it always gets blocked or doesn’t comes out at all.
I try to plink it but still got the same problem.
Do I need to “cancel” the Hayate cancel into s.MP?
Is there any tip to do this? I’m corrently thinking on practicing doing a s.LP link into s.MP after the cancel. (well it’s easier to me to do the s.LP)
Thanks
You must wait the end of hayate cancel to input your MP, it’s a 1 frame link, so yeah it’s kind of hard to do, even with plink.
There is no tip or trick besides practicing over and over in training room.
For some reason, I find that after karakusa I can do the s.hp, HC into s.mp way easier than without Karakusa. Am I the only one who is getting this or does the s.hp get more frames on hit? I might be crazy lol.
i think
5lp --> 5mp and 5hp hayate cancel 5mp
they are same just frame link
so you’ll better go back to the lab and practice plinking or simply skip it if cant do it
cause it’s too painful if fail (srks, comand throw…etc)
for plinking practice,
try to do lots of kara normal throw 6lk plink lp
and learn the timing
hp hayate cancel 5mp is a 1 frame link?
i always thought it was a just frame
What are some good meaty knockdown set ups you guys use ?
and like any tips for doing them I find them generally the hardest meaty to do .
