btw after cr HP i usually do a very basic meaty setup … i just dash forward twice and do MP Oroshi , but it does miss if done perfectly timed , so instead of HP oroshi which knocks down for less damage you can aim for more damage (to finish the match for example) with MP Oroshi … you just have to delay it a very little bit and you can do meaty MP oroshi > st MP > ex oroshi/ex hayate (not gonna tell you how much damage it does in the corner lol)

cr HP > dash > dash > mp oroshi (will whiff if done perfectly) :stuck_out_tongue: into pretty much anything including U1

I’ve been working with vs. Honda recently, and I can’t figure out why, when I try to focus a buttslam, it’ll randomly counterhit and break my focus. Does anyone know how this happens? I always start the focus after he leaves the ground, but maybe I’m missing something with the timing.

Really need to figure this out, because punishing buttslam is about the only problem I’m having with this matchup. I’ve screwed around with it in training, and you can nail him with a level 2 focus after every one, regardless of whether or not you blocked the hit going up or actually absorbed the hit coming down. The timing for it’s pretty standard, too, I just can’t seem to replicate those instances where I get counterhit glass broken.

It should only be breaking focus if it’s performed as a reversal. Are you saying that you’re getting counterhit because you’re letting go too late? Or…? Also, I haven’t tried it, but I bet a Fukiage like MP when you see him going up on reaction would work well maybe?

after crHP, you have to dash only once to meaty MP oroshi (1 frame delay).

Thats after backthrow you have to dash twice.

Rha, normally i should go to SVB tomorrow evening. But still dont know yet because of UK riots (it seems calm in london at the moment)

I toyed around with Fuki, but it seems really unreliable. The timing (and what version, lp or mp, or which direction you need to do it in, really) seems dependent on the spacing and what version he uses. Focus felt a lot more reliable since, even if you use the same timing regardless of the version, it’ll correct directions while he’s airborne and you can just let it rip whenever he lands.

But the counter hit thing, it’s happened to me when I was focusing during his decent at some point. Thinking back, it might have been when I tried to START the focus really late in his drop. Maybe that had something to do with it?

oh yeah mechanical mistake lol , It’s all just muscle memory lol, I want to go on 1 tournament just to get the feel of everything … to meet people and stuff , if i’m going to a tournament in europe i’ll go to a tournament to meet someone i know, not just to be alone there … oh and if i were you i wouldn’t go to the UK , saw a vid of a gang punching a guy on the ground , then helping him stand up , mugging him and letting him go … so if people mug you there it’s gonna be a wild adventure till you get back haha XD

That is correct. Even though they don’t have to input the motion for the second hit, since it doesn’t combo, the second hit of butt slam has its own startup. If you focus during the startup of a special, and it hits you then it will break your armor. Another good example of this is THawk’s Condor Spire. It does not break armor. But a lot of people try to focus it on reaction and end up focusing during the startup of it, and it will count as a counter hit. An even BETTER example is trying to focus the very last hit of a blocked Abare. It happens a lot lol. Someone will try to focus the last hit and get their armor broke, because (since it doesn’t combo) they started their focus during the startup of the fukiage.

I belive this is the case with all specials. if you do an armored moved during the startup of someone’s special and they hit you, it will count as a counter hit. But someone can feel free to correct me if i’m a little off.

nope nope.
The last hit is not armor break.
If it does, that’s because makoto did reversal abare
So, quickly check “reversal” in the corner of the screen before doing FA

Happens in mirror match a lot if Makoto is using U2… because they’ll use it reversal on wake up a lot

wait how is it reversal if you dont’ attack them? i thought reversal was after an attack

on wakeup too.
If he got armor break, it was reversal for sure (maybe you missed it)

I have a question about U2:

I can´t remember the source, cause i write stuff i find somewhere down to have my own folder of information.
Apparantly there is/was a setup for U2 where it´ll crossup. It´s character specific but it should work like this:

Backthrow > neutral Jump > U2.

This should crossup on Sakura and some more characters. Point is, when i tested this in a match, it didn´t crossup at all.
Is this a legit setup? Does it still work ? Is the timing really strict (like 1 frame strict)?

P.S.: i´ll look for framedata and stuff when i got more time. Thanks for your replies.

unless you dont hold up after the back throw there’s no way it will miss

depending on character it’s 1-frame strict, indeed.
The best way to do it is holding KKK, jumps, then release KKK when you land.
So, you dont risk to hit KKK before landing (then activate 4 landing frames).

Thanks, i think that was my problem. I did hit KKK too early and got 4 landing frames.

Well for me in the beginning i build meter to frustrate my opponent to try and make them get reckless to try and score an untechable knockdown…from there its pretty much meaty set-ups and mind games…at least that what i’ve been doing thus far and it seems to be working

I’ve found myself abusing her dashes. Seriously, her dashes are sooooooooooooooooo god damn gooooooooooood. Especially onb bad crossup attempts.

EX Karakusa for button pressers, crMP after Karakusa mp/hp xx Hayate. figured out the difference with the three axe kicks so I’m baiting DPs. Good to know I can put Fuerte’s sash on my neck when I need to. I dont feel I can turtle with her yet (I’ll get my timeouts with her soon enough), but its quite fun gettin’ in them cheeks with Mak since she’s actually scary.

I’m just not used to her Up punch (Fukiage?) yet. namely distances and application. would Light Fukiage be good for bad crossups?

c.MP after hit Hayate stinks. I’m not sure how you’re getting away with that. I can maybe see after a max range LP Hayate, but nothing else.

Guys, I think I’m gonna do an anti-air section and a poke/buffer poke section for the characters, primarily based around the typical effective ranges of our own moves, IE how the edge of c.MP interacts with Balrog’s TAP. Most of the AA section will probably boil down to if c.MK works or not.

Has anyone ever tried using Makoto’s EX.Karakusa -> armor cancel to beat meaty jumps / dive kicks?

I was thinking of this since Abel can beat out meaty dive kicks with EX.COD xx armor cancel (AC) Tornado Throw.

Maybe this works with Mak as well, for those jumps/dk’s that are too meaty to Fukiage and not meaty enough to straight up beat with EX.Kara. I was thinking of Ex.kara xx AC karakusa or Ex.Overhead. Someone care to try it out?

I’m at work right now so can’t really check :wonder:

Dude I’m the anti air king xD I love it when I anti-air with st LP , it’s hilarious , effective and annoys the opponent SO MUCH , it’s especially good for neutral jumps cause you can react to the neutral jump > dash > lp (reset) into anything … I still haven’t found a good anti air against dudley (except fukiage which is perfect but I cant do uppercuts , which im practicing to do right now). cr MK works very rarely against his jump in HK… that weird hit box is so annoying
