Well…no one’s won a major with her and there are still so few Makoto players despite her buffs. Hopefully, Capcom will see her unpopularity and leave her the hell alone.
What happened to Gen from Vanilla to Super makes me nervous.
Keep in mind this might not be the last re-balance we have to face. I’m starting to get the feeling Capcom is starting to treat Street Fighter like Blizzard treats Starcraft 2.
how low to the ground does makoto’s axe kick hit?
Uh … low?
ya it hit me outta ex duck not ex duck upper
thought i was seeing things
I am not sure where this would go but I figure I’d ask in the one thread that mattered to me. Auto correct, why does it work in the oddest of ways. for instance I see chun-li doing her cross over from the ground (I believe the command for it is down forward rh) now for some reason whenever chun-li does this at point blank range for me and I try to forward dash to create some space, I tend to back dash into her instead even though I am running toward where she just jumped from. If the animation auto-corrected and had me back dash in the direction I input then you know, that would be just as well.
I found 3 interesting things yesterday.
- Midscreen: after fuki -> jump hp (mid air, not too high/low), if you dash (to crossdown) and crouch, makoto will crossdown, but RE-crossdown just before opponent lands. So, he has to guard as if she didnt go to the other side
2, if you’re in corner and opponemt jump at you, just fukiage -> dash -> lp fukiage (input is 63214+lp) instead of normal double fuki. So, you put opponent in corner
- I only did it once on 46446 try. So tell me if you find an answer:
Anti FA: any move -> lp hayate. If opponent has absorb-backdash on your normal move, he gets hit in the air by lp hayate, and kara ex fukiage will combo.
For point 3, you can do ex hayate if hayate hits meaty. But im SURE it didnt hit meaty when i successed with kara ex fuki.
On my 7373737848 tries, i did meaty, non-meaty, far, close, everything… But damn it, impossible to do it again…
Point 1: That’s pretty cool! There’s been occasions like that for me where I’ll reset someone out of the air and dash forward, but can’t really tell which side I’m going to wind up on. This setup seems consistent as long as you get the height for jump hp down (although it might vary per charcter), but one thing I like to do just in case is once they land, do st.fp xx quarter circle (towards the closest corner) PP. This way, if you DO wind up crossing under, you’ll get EX Chop and knock them down for a f+hp (hold) corpse hop and be able to pressure towards the corner, and if you don’t, you’ll get EX Hayate and put them in the corner out right. It’s sloppy as far as meter management and EX Hayate is still slightly punishable, but I’ve found it pretty useful considering the opponent can’t just hold up to escape karakusa and the 50/50’s about as good as it gets since even I don’t know what side I’m going to wind up on. 'course, this is only really useful if you honestly don’t know whether or not you’ll cross under.
Point 2: Neat. I’ve actually been having some trouble with that.
Point 3: I can’t for the life of me get this to work, but it kinda seems like it should. What character did you do it on?
your hitting them out of the air with ex kara fuki right… i got that for the most part just they push so far back to hit them with fuki… you think it may be character specific? i was trying it on Rog… these are interesting situations man… Question about a past set up… The Shiro one where you can meaty HP Hayate in the corner and can link the cr or s.Lk … i was messing with the cr lk and was wondering if it was meaty because it felt like one and i tried to hit with ultra 1 but it seemed to push you far… my question is do you think there is another way you can hit your opponent other than cr or sLk into ex hayate … so far (after meaty Hp Hayate) i have been doing :
-
(if meaty is blocked) crLk / sLk -> very short delay -> kara ex oroshi …its strange timing…im still in the lab with everything but just throwing out ideas
-
(If Meaty hits) crLk or sLk -> ex hayate -> fuki combo …STUN STUN STUN lol and dmg
theres more im trying to use during that mixup but i want to figure what we can do on hit of the cr/sLk …any ideas?
I have a question for you vryu-sensei. WHY WEREN’T YOU AT EVO TO SHOW THEM THE WAY OF RINDOKAN!?!?!?!?! lol jk
Next year
(too sad not beeing able to go this year…)
Yeah you would have beasted too.
V-ryu thanks for unlocking the blockakusa, after trying it out in a match today, I now realize how broken it really is, please capcom keep makoto exactly the way she is.
off-topic:
I’m kinda surprised you or Alloinne (is that how you spell it?) haven’t been approached by any sponsors yet. It’s no surprise Ryan Heart and Kayane have been signed. Ryan’s been incredible for ages, and Kayane is a rarity in the scene. (I’m not taking anything away from Kayane. I’ve known about her awesomeness since she was 12, but her specialty is Soulcalibur, not SF.) Is the FG scene not as big over there?
I can’t do a fukikage anti-air. I have a very slow reaction to jump-ins. I can only anti-air using her normals.
I’m a member of Total Heads (same as Poongko, MOV, etc) since ~1month now^^ But it’s not really sponsoring.
Alioune is sponsored by Elive. He could join evo or shadowloo, but had exams or vacations (dont remember what he told me).
Oh, i will attempt SVB in 2 weeks (london is not far from switzerland. I can take 1 day of work. I’ve corrupted my boss. lol). Hope it will be good!
Evans told me that he will maybe come, and koreans too.
What’s happening with kayane is really rare. I think if she was a guy, there wouldnt be everything around her like this. But that’s good for her.
I know her since she was 12 and was always joining tournament, etc. It’s a good “reward” for her.
btw, before evo, she asked me to “maybe” train her with makoto, because she wanted to have another woman character, in case of^^
@currentlemon.
its almost easier than shoryuken, because as soon as you see the jump, you can do it “without” timing.
You just have to be used to it. It will come, dont worry (when you’ll be able to fukiage feilong jump MP, it will be good :>)
I found that if your opponent FAs your jump in attacks, then on your next one buffer EX karakusa in the air. You will grab them out of the FAs counter hit. AND if you do it enough times it will really mess up their game because most players that I have encountered FA jump ins as a reflex and they cant help doing it so they will get frustrated trying to stop themselves : )
I’ve been trying to figure out ways to help that myself. It’s still a work in progress, but what I’ve been doing:
- c.LK buffered EX Hayate, buffering 236 after to Fukiage. c.LK has a duration of 14 frames, so as long as you started the c.LK only by a little bit after they jumped, you should be golden
- f+MP to advance, waiting to LP Fukiage a jump. Good because it lets you hold forward while having a shield, plus it can provoke opponents to jump due to a poke. I especially like doing this at mid-long range, since there’s very little risk. You can even take this a bit further and buffer 63236 into f+MP, but for some reason I dislike doing this.
- Making an effort to walk forward a bit more than normal at mid-range.
- f+LP spam at jump range. While there’s only a little protection from pokes and such, it recovers quickly and keeps Makoto in place.
- Using HP Oroshi a bit outside of jump-in range to build meter can be good as bait. If they jump while the Oroshi is active, not starting up, you have time to Fukiage.
- Buffering 6323 within any backdash, especially on wake-up. Backdash is cancel-able at frame 22, otherwise it recovers for 5 more frames unconditionally.
I’ve found c.MP buffered MP/EX Hayate is not good for Fukiage AAing.
I *think *Haitani is looking for an AA when he does his dash dance mid-screen
cool. I had no idea you had a pseudo-sponsorship. Hopefully, Total Heads will see the value of having you travel to tournaments and give a real deal. There aren’t exactly a lot of high-level Makoto players around. You sir, are a limited commodity.
on Kayane: I think she’ll prove herself when Soulcalibur 5 is released.
