I transferred some Matchup information from the old thread that I felt was (mostly) relevant. I didn’t transfer it all… as, again, this is not a matchup thread. Actually, we dont’ have enough reserved spots left to create a full blown matchup thread. But the info that is in here will serve as a good start point… As usualy, feel free to add any corrections.

I’ve been trying to find block strings so I can setup the st. lk(whiff) kara karakusa, anybody have any setups or tips? I actually wish her st. Lk had a smaller hit box, lol

has any one fix a lot of the set up? apparently most of these set up aren’t working for me :(. after ex oro, s.HK, j.mk. i have no idea if my timing is off or something but i seem to get stuff all the time by reversal, i tested some out and for some reason its safe against ryu’s jab srk but the rest…i get beat.

By “most of these set up aren’t working,” what do you mean? What exactly isn’t working for you?

EX Oroshi, s.HK whiff, j.MK works, it’s just tight timing.

wait, are most of these set up tight timing? i know a few times cr.hp -> dash , mp.oro would whiff a lot for me. :(, same with backthrow dash x2 mp.oro. dunno if its like strict timing. I can’t remember this one other set up i read somewhere on my iphone at work. it was another safe jump against yun, i must have read it wrong or something ex. oro dash, whiff jab into j.hp? kept getting blown up by yun all the time :(. is there any links after hitting meaty st.hk? and if they are corner combo or not.

Just make sure you get all your setups from post #8 :slight_smile:

c.HP, dash, MP Oroshi will fail in AE, which is why it’s listed as c.HP, dash, HP Oroshi.

I believe Backthrow, dash X 2, MP Oroshi works on most characters. If not, it’s off by exactly one frame and HP Oroshi will work. I’ll check this out and update the post if it fails.

EX Oroshi, dash, s.LP, neutral jump MK definitely, definitely works on Yun, as well as many characters. If you’re off by even one frame, it will fail, so you’ve got to be tight with the s.LP whiff.

thanks, i tried some of them already but unable to tell if the meaty connected on a training dummy lol. i somehow got a st.hk and cr.mp to link once, so i assume that is the only way for me to know if the meaty worked. tried cr.hp into empty f.jump into cr.lk and cannot get it to work for the life of me.

Well first of all you can’t have the dummy on all block/autoblock. You have to do it on no block.

Second, try some of the easier meaties first. By easier, i mean ones that don’t include special moves. For instance a good one is:

c.:hp:, Dash, c.:lp: (whiff), s.:hk: (meaty)

you know its meaty when the :hk: comes out, THEN they stand up, THEN they get hit. Afterwards, you can combo into, i think 70% of her moves lol. But yeah use Robo’s post. I didn’t go through everything, so if there are meaties in the older posts, they may be a frame or 2 off depending on the setup. Basically if it uses a dash, and its in an old post, it is incorrect because her dash is 1 frame faster. This 1 frame counts a lot, because all of the meaties were precise… we wanted to hit on the last active frame to give the most frame advantage possible out of the meaty. So you must execute the setups perfecly. This is ESPECIALLY true with the 3f Safe jump. Others not so much, but the 3f Safe jump is the only one she has AFAIK and the timing is very difficult. So don’t feel bad if you miss it… just keep practicing it because it must be done perfectly in order to work correctly.

EDIT - oh FYI, the meaty example above is not perfectly meaty. It hits on the second to last frame. If you want it perfectly meaty, you have to do c.:lk: instead of c.:lp:…

Anyway a question: do we have frameperfect meatys for backthrow?
So far I’ve been using: backthrow, dash, dash, c.lk, s.mp (meaty) and: backthrow, dash, c.lk, c.lp, s.mp (meaty)
but if I execute them perfectly they will whiff.

It’s not about 3 frames vs. 4 frames, it’s about s.LP having 12 frames of duration, which is necessary. 16 of the dash + 12 frames of s.LP + 40 frames of neutral jumping = 68 frames, IE 68 frames of EX Oroshi knockdown. f+LP has 13 frames anyway, no reason at all for switching to that.

Back throw has 60 frames of knockdown for most characters.

Dash X 2, c.LK, s.MP = 16 X 2 + 14 + (5~11) = hitting from frames 51~57. Nope, doesn’t work.
Dash, c.LK, c.LP, s.MP = 16 + 14 + 13 + (5~11) = hitting from frames 48~54. Nope.

To do a perfect frame meaty, you need to buffer in filler until the frame where it can start and hit perfectly meaty. In back throw’s case, that’s:

32 for MP Oroshi. Dash X 2, MP Oroshi.
45 for s.HK. Dash X 2, f+LP, s.HK.
48 for c.MK. Dash X 3, c.MK.
49 for s.MP. Dash, f+MK, s.MP.
53 for c.LK. Dash X 2, c.MP, c.LK.

Whoops, wrote Dash instead of Dash X 2.

I updated the setups. I took out a few that didn’t make sense and added a few custom builts. Added meaty frame advantage on block and hit.

oh mossad, some reason i can’t get that stuff working either. the one u mentioned, normally when i land meaty cr.short, i can land st.fierce but i tried the set up countless times and not working. i’ll have to keep working on it, unless pc has some kind of frame lag that i am unaware of, some occasion even cr.hp dash into hp oro missed which was odd for me.

Which setup are you trying?

c.HP, dash, HP Oroshi won’t work on Sagat, Cammy, and Blanka, maybe that’s where you’re failing?

i tried your set up heh, trying to attempt whiffing the cr.short
OH that explains it…why it whiffed kept trying it on a cammy and it just whiffed! Sp much stuff i must have missed out
