Doing ex shoulder after EX upkicks in combos is waste of meter imo you’d better just do LK upkicks then ex shoulder it does slightly less damage.

And after lp shoulder pressure, just sticking out a st hk is amazing it will beat out nearly any poke if they try to counter poke, once they get hit by this alot of players mash DP and that will whiff your st hk and you get free punish although smarter players will start to focus or jump in after so be aware to use lunge to break focus or AA.

thats why you link lp lunge from ex kicks

two dive kick, cr.MP, cr.MP, fst.MP xx EX Kicks, LP Lunge = slightly over 1,000 stun

do agree that ex kicks, ex shoulder isn’t really worth it most of the time though.
also yang’s still the only character i know of that you can link mp lunge after ex kicks. :frowning:

I don’t know how I did this on Ryu earlier, but I managed to figure out that you can do it against Viper if she gets stunned in the corner (but you have to be in the corner, so you may only get access to it off bad U1 or cross up / fake cross up stuns.)

also LP Shoulder Pressure is close to worthless against some characters (Claw can outright stuff any button presses, Ryu can walk up cr.HK you, Ken fw.MK should get rid of most options, etc.

edit: well some characters you can whiff punish if you don’t press buttons though.)

on claw it’s pretty useless but against ryu it’s not that bad as long as u dont spam it. if he is to walk up and cr.hk you, you can block everytime and if u were to jump he’s gonna have to perfectly walk forward 2frames and then punish before u’re in the air. that’s pretty fuckin hard to do. if he fucks it up and whiffs sweep and u get in with ur hk dive kick and do max dmg combo that’s a good trade off. (light shoulder is -3, prejump frames are 4f so if u’re jumping after blocked shoulder your opponent have 7 frames to prevent u from doing it. Most normals in the game won’t be in reach to punish yun after a blocked shoulder. Ryu in this case will have to punish perfectly to even make his sweep worth while after blocking a shoulder. Heck, i even do this to akuma after blocking shoulder as he’s gonna have to do a 2f-link to prevent me from jumping in the air. I’ll take my trade against akuma and ryu, to get swept or do 290 dmg 500+ stun). Oh and i’ve never ever got swept by ryu after a blocked shoulder and i jumped. it’s not in reach if he just does it and it’s almost literally impossible to walk forward exactly 2 frames and doing it.

also. step kick is 11f on start up, even if he blocks your shoulder, ur st.mp will counter-hit stuff rape his stepkick every time. you’re at -3 and st.mp is 5 frames. your st.mp will beat his step kick by 3 frames. ken has no option against shoulder pressure except trying to DP in between your normal and shoulder. I abuse this against ken so i don’t know what you’re saying. his step kicks gets stuffed on block as well as his sweep. the only thing he can do to stop the pressure without taking a huge risk (as u can just do lowforward and not cancel into shoulder) is his low forward which will get whiff punished by ur st.hk or ur st.mp.

Thought this should be in this thread. Kaz vs. Dieminion. Match starts at about 4:59:00. About 50 games.

Kazunoko played that set nearly perfectly. Early j.mk really fucks with Guile’s antiairs and he punished with max damage everytime (cr.mpx3 s.mp). Really exceptional play from Kaz. If anyone needs help on the Yun vs Guile match, they should definitely watch that set.

Character Specific combo on rufus only really good if you going to finish off does 280 damage without dive kick

Cool stuff. There is a similar combo with Rose that I found in training mode. I assume it’s written around here somewhere, but it’s basically anything into far st.MP xx lk upkicks xx Ultra 1. Works anywhere.

That’s really nice, I only knew about post-command grab U1 combos on Cammy and Rose. And speaking of character-specific combos, you can still combo U1 after EX Lunge on Cammy and Boxer if you cancel a TC5 (cl.LP > LK > MP) into it.

Yeah, it doesn’t work on everybody. Sorry for not replying in months. The upkick GJ combo is probably the combo of choice. It’s harder (Especially on pad. I get negative edge lunges everywhere.), but more reliable, and it does roughly the same damage.

Starting with palm, these are the most damaging combo I could find that end with cr.HK and don’t use Ultra:
Palm > Activate > HK Upkicks > [cr.HP (2 hits) > HK Upkicks] x 2 > cr.HP (2 hits) > Palm > f.MK > cr.HK
565 Damage
Palm > Activate > HK Upkicks > [cr.HP (2 hits) > HK Upkicks] x 3 > cr.HP (2 hits) > cr.HK
567 Damage

After a whiffed dp opponent(still in air) 3 squares from corner. Requires some anticipation:

ex palm
lp shoulder
ex palm

  • could not follow up the second palm

ex palm

ultra -> 520dmg

ex palm

lp lunge

Tested on Ken’s MP DP. Most likely works on Ryu, Evil, Akuma HP and Mp Dps.
Maybe Good against predictable neutral jumpers

Not sure how effective it will be in a live match but, something to add to your repetoire since its easy as sin to do.

Thought i’d put some resets with genei jin to kill characters, they aren’t very viable but its an option if your down on life and have a slim chance of coming back and these are corner only and the resets in the combo can be countered via mashed dp or w/e reversal so its risky although you can bait them into mashing by jumping foward instead of going into reset to discourage them next time you try it.

st mp xx lp shoulder xx geneijin st hk xx lp lunge cl st mk, mk dive kick as soon as you land hp shoulder, hp lunge, palm, hp lunge cl st mk mk dive kick as soon as you land palm into ultra 1.

As you notice the 2nd reset in the combo ends in palm to ultra, you could do hp shoulder to crossup and land ultra that way, it does less damage and you cant land hp lunge after the ultra that way since hp shoulder uses up the juggle point on normal specials anyways the point of the palm is after they see the 1st reset from the cl st mk launcher into dive kick ending up with cross up shoulder when you the next time they might be expecting and will be blocking the other direction.

If you add the damage up it totals up to:
296+266+461=1023

st mp xx lp shoulder xx geneijin st hk xx lp lunge cl st mk, foward jump hp as soon as you land hp shoulder, hp lunge, palm, hp lunge cl st mk mk dive kick as soon as you land palm into ultra 1.

326+266+461=1053

sometimes you don’t have enough time to actually get close enough to cr.mp, cr.mp, st.mp xx hk kicks

depends on what dp whiffs but generally
cr.MP, st.MP xx HK Kicks
cr.MP, cst.MP xx LK Kicks
st.MP xx LK Kicks (LK does more than MK now and gives you a lot more time to do stuff than MK and HK do)
cst.MK, LP Shoulder, HP Lunge
EX Palm, LP Shoulder, HP Lunge
EX Palm, MP Shoulder, HP Lunge
HP Palm, LP Shoulder, HP Lunge (last two are usually only for when they whiff HP DP and you use palm as they come down)

Hey guys does the EX Command grab have any use? as in whats the difference from the regular command grab and the EX one now that its nerfed

Its only 2 frames faster now so the use is very limited now because the normal command grab can almost be used in many of the same situations.
How ever when you notice people mash out of your command grab setups (cough balrog) the ex sometimes does seem to make a difference. Overall I would save the bar for Genei Jin or Ex shoulder if your playing sagat/ryu
