I mained Viper in super because Gen was pretty ass in that edition, so this is just an ignorant comment imo. And hey midscreen comboing into U1 will be easier if the U1 buff is what I think it is.
And thankfully her stun remains unchanged, which is imo a huge part of what makes her so scary.
Just so you know midscreen bk to U1 is possible in every version of sf4, it isn’t that they are giving it back, its that its going to be easier. Btw I suspect that this is why they nerfed her damage. In all honesty I feel like viper is going to suffer from her bad match ups but we are going to see less unsightly whiffed ultras. Granted I don’t think we should have had to had sacrifised dmg for reliability, but that’s my opinion.
Someone mentioned that we should be glad that they didn’t mess with her frame advantage, but imo I would have welcomed a change in frames (unless it was bad ). Its not like she has hella frame advantage on anything, except mybe foward bk and even that is only +4 from the time they block: which btw only leaves you about 2 or 3 frames to press a button of which probably has 5 startup. Good but not great. All of her feint strings rely on tricking your opponent into doing something dumb. Nothing super solid, that’s why they kept it the same. Honestly I would have taken an additional 10 less damage on everything nerfed for faster starting normals with better hitboxes. Lol
Akuma’s stun was fine. I understood nerfing cr.hk stun, considering its easy for us to land. Should have been to 150 and not 100 imo but
Then stun nerf on Ex tatsu, Ex SRK, Shaku, etc etc? Now Akuma under stuns. GOtta mix someone up 5 or 6 times before they are even close.
Just saying, you never know what Capcom considers “fine”
I see what you’re saying. I wouldn’t mind if viper got a slight (I mean tiny) stun reduction, but hopefully capcom is finished making changes with her.
In the grand perspective, viper nerfs are minimal. However, I was never a fan of capcom’s balance philosophy to begin with. We all know that many of the pro players just want characters to get better, not worse. So I’m upset they would make an obviously strong character weaker (which goes for the other top tier also). Makes the game less exciting.
Capcom like to change characters just to change the character up rather then to actually benefit the players they seem to think each new version they must change the character just to give them something new they don’t need and take away something they do need.Just leave my char alone capcom stop fiddling please.
are they making the hitbox wider also?
if not then you’ll still have to bk late midscreen after fff anyways. -_-
Yeah, something like that. They said “Improved” to make it easier to land. That’s all I read.
I don’t think that will hurt her that badly. Sure it will mess up her combo potential after an EX TK crumple but EX TK is such a hard move to land anyway. I only ever use it when I OS meterless Bison’s and Dhalsim’s teleports. And if you do land the crumple and want to do a meterless punish you can just do FFFO (fierce feint forward) xx Mp TK.
• EX Seismo’s throw invincibility removed.
wow
EX Seismo’s throw invinc is gone? Wow… see… now that is a change worth bitching about…
k, we get it.
I respect the EX seismo change since Viper could already use burn kick to avoid throws, so this makes it a bit more fair for some characters. Especially glad that fierce T knuckle is now grab invincible, since it would really bug me out if I played vs a grappler sometimes. Im so glad that EX burn kick has improved properties cuz this means EVEN MORE STUN IN THE CORNER. You could already stun gouki in 1 combo (850 stun), but now you can stun every character with 900 stun in 1 combo in the corner. This will help immensely and will make her a character that literally needs 1 chance to win the match. She is the official stun queen of ssf4 AE and will leave Makoto far behind in this aspect.
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting the EX Seismo nerf lol.
Are they improving HP TK so it won’t be as vulnerable to throws?
Honestly, if Capcom nerfed EX Seismo, there’s no way they’d let Viper get away with 900 stun combos. Probably still need lots of meter for it like her 850 stun combos.
These changes are actually good. Now her HP TK wont get thrown (throw invincible until first active frame) and yeah, the EX seismo thing sucks but whatever, she could still be delay grabbed out of it. The HP TK buff makes up for it, and the EX BK change is going to be very interesting and make for some new combos. As it was, most people considered EX seismo a “gimme” move, so at least hopefully they’ll stop bitching about it, and we can still use bk and hp tk to fuck up throws, with FADC an option on the latter.
All in all she’s gaining some solidity while losing some damage. While I love how devastating her damage is now, I’m ok with these changes.
Ex Seismo throw invincibility nerf?
Well, ok. So we lost a luxury. We still have burnkick to beat throws. We still have frametraps.
And more importantly, our throw invincibility was lost to give HP TK some throw invincibility on the first frame. Now compensates a lot.
Move along people. This is insignificant. Also, let’s welcome back our old friend Ryu and his low forward.
Not just invincible on the first frame, but up until her first active frame. So HP TK feinting through throws should be possible, IMO a good payoff for being able to do HP TK feints consistently.
I’m really liking that HP TK buff. Now…just as long as Capcom don’t get any funny ideas about nerfing anything else lol.
You need 2 bars for FFF->EX seismo->hjc med T knuckle-> (instant air) EX burn kick but now you can follow it up with any juggle move possible. It will probably mean that you can follow it up with U1 (damage scaling kills it) or a fierce t knuckle for the same price. It might be that they changed the stun scaling so she stops at 899, wich is pretty much impossible since her most practical and highest stun combo does 875 stun. So unless they make fierce t knuckle do just 24 stun all of a sudden she will stun every 900 stun character in 1 corner combo (if they’re close to the corner that is).
