AE ver. 2012 Viper changes

Having red life against Viper is asking for it, and yeah I see a lot of good Viper players eating jumpins because they mis-spaced their seismos.

You’d be suprised lol. You should try picking up the character yourself and actually knowing a thing or two about her. Also, I’m not your son.

I don’t see how a Viper player could possibly complain about this. You’ve had largely the same character since 2008, and now you do 10 less damage on Strong TK… that’s not noticeable at all.

Less damage on Ultra… who cares? Unless you were just landing raw Ultra all day, in real situations, this “nerf” will net you like 15 points less damage in a combo to U1. 440 is still more than most ultras.

With these changes, Viper might have to land one more hit to win a match (not even), and NOTHING got changed about the way she needs to be played, at all.

I would LOVE it if my character, Yang, saw similar changes.

I’m not complaining at all, I’m just surprised people want even more damage nerfs.

It’s because they don’t like learning match ups and want everything to be 5-5 or for less damage so they can fuck up more during the fight.

-I kinda expected the mp T knuckle and EX seismo nerf, but expected it to be a nerf to invinvibilty not in damage (glad that didnt happen ^^). EX Seismo really is one of the best EX moves for any character that can juggle into Ultra. So yeah, a minor damage nerf to it seems fair.

-The t knuckle nerf was something I foresaw from day 1. A move that safe with focusbreak and decent start-up doing 120 damage and 200 stun is kinda strong, especially when you keep in mind that Viper is supposed to be high-risk character. T knuckle isnt risky at all since its only -2 on block and has a decent hitbox so its safe to throw it out randomly so I expected even more nerfs to that (glad that didnt happen^^).

-Im really glad they mad EX t knuckle start up faster, since imo it was only usefull when you had a read on the opponent. Its one of my favorite moves and putting 2 extra recovery frames on it seems fair since you could really put on the hurt if you guessed right.

-WHY THE U1 DAMAGE NERF?! T^T WHYYYYY?! I mean, I knew it was coming, but still WHYYYYYY?! T^T
On the other hand, you can probably do FFF->hj burn kick->u1 mid screen again :smiley: I used to call that cheap in Vanilla and was expecting it to never return again.

-Yeah, another buff to u2! :smiley: Now its not entirely crappy but still nothing compared to u1 in most match-ups (especially not with the hitbox buff). At least now its more usable vs Blanka if you choose to use it, since the difference in damage between the 2 ultras is closed a lot. Ofcourse U2 was usable in AE vs Blanka, but the difference in damage was just too great imo. You either used u2 to immediatley punish any blocked blanka ball while giving him a lot of meter or you settled with a less damage on blocked balls and you used u1 as a big punisher. But now that the gap between the 2 is just 31 damage I think u2 is a lot more viable in this match-up.

No supernightowl, if she doesnt have a teleport, she doesnt get 850 health (-_-,) seriously.

Its too hard and risky to land regular seismos. A damage nerf would probably make them too unrewarding.

Are we even playing the same game? I’m playing the one where a Viper player can cancel a seismo directly into another for a pseudo-blockstring and fullscreen jab-jab-jab damage on BLOCK.

Then say that you want its CHIP to change and not its regular damage. Normal seismos are only effective if you have a EX bar on stock at the right distance, otherwise they’re too risky to just throw around. Just be glad that it isnt like having to block scissor kicks all the time.

I’m no viper player, but wouldn’t the change to U1 hitbox make things like this video easier?

Chip damage is directly proportional to standard damage. All chip damage is 25% of standard damage values.

In that case, though luck kiddo. Just block 2 times so you get out of EX seismo reach. Its still high risk/high reward.

Vipers got off lucky. She still hits like a vanilla char and everyone else has gotten nerfs since vanilla other than claw but he doesn’t count.

I don’t understand why EX Seismo’s damage was nerfed. People will always seek to rationalize nerfs but you can do that with any move in the game. EX Seismo was fine IMO. WTF even complained about this move in the first place?

MP TK and U1 nerfs are meh, even though I thought MP TK was fine in AE as well.

If you take into account what they said about their balance for v.2012, I honestly thought they were only going to nerf U1 damage and maaaaaybe a bit of stun damage.

I’m just happy her U1 was nerfed. That was honestly the main thing. She can be a high damage character but when she also has a 480 damage comboable… It’s still there, and 441 damage still hurts, but 480 was just too much.

while I agree with your post, its pretty much spot on for the most part, yang is not viper, she’s not even close to being that riskless, so tweaking him won’t be as easy. Fighting charge characters like bison, honda, rog and blanka will be pretty damn difficult now, these minor tweaks will make a very big difference vs them.

ps: wtf is up with EX tk, just fucking remove that god damned ability, its trash anyway, just makes me waste meter by accident if input a feint too early.

Yeah the Gief match was the first thing I thought about as well. Who knows, maybe she has some stealth buffs, like when they reverted her MK frame advantage nerfs in AE.

Yes, Nerf her ultra because it benefits your Seth right? After a combo, the ultra never did much damage from the start due to damage scaling. I’m not complaining though about the nerfs, thats less bitching I have to hear online. I actually though that Capcom was gonna tether with her BKs.
