Ultra 1 needs more utility. More invincibility to fireballs, faster start up (maybe by 2 or 3 frames), and having the ultra connect fully after the first hit lands.

U1 should have the same range and startup as chun U1. Even then chun u1 has more ways to combo into it.

honestly the main thing i want other than damage would be to have ex-mgu have a couple frames of invincibility so you could ex-mgu fadc back dash to get out of pressure. thats probably asking alot though

I was wondering would it be better for EX sobat to be Ultra1 cancel-able on the first hit rather than Super into Ultra 1.

honestly its fair. we have no answer to cr. jab. this could be a solution to that.

people are like “other characters don’t have wake up options” and i reply that’s against aerial attacks.

every character has something to deal with cr. jab except deejay. i’m not saying it has to work 100%, but i’m just saying if i guess correctly on a meaty or if my opponent is getting greedy don’t i deserve a move to make them second guess?

that would be way too strong

maybe ex sobat xx focus attack lvl2 > dash u1 would be a more fair alternative

don’t touch the frames of lk sobat. it would ruin all of my tech.

more low invincibility. so it can deal with blanka electricity would be completely reasonable.

ex mgu armor would be ok. its slow and if they gave it armor it could deal with jabs. just have to worry about being throw, but then you could just upkick, tech or mk sobat it.

he has a fireball that’s safe on block so i don’t think it would be fair to give him safe armor breaking moves. it’s kind of how adon shouldn’t have safe ground jaguar kicks without spacing them.

Guys, please don’t waste forum space on the Capcom rebalance thread asking for stuff that won’t noticeably help DeeJay’s bad matchups. Giving him some new gimmick isn’t going to significantly raise his tournament viability. IMO, DeeJay’s main problems boil down to just a few things: he gets abused on wakeup and has a tough time getting pressure characters off him once they get in because his reversal game is terrible. He also has poor punishes against a lot of characters because his cr.lk is 5 frames and his 3 frame jabs are rather short range. I think these changes would go a lot farther in helping him in tournaments compared to buffing mash exMGU to work with U2.

To help him on offense:
• Give him a viable pressure tool - Make lk Sobat safe, or something like that
• Make U1 actually useful against fireballs up to Ex Sobat range, or give it the ability to be juggled into (not as important but it would be nice)

DeeJay’s reversal game is terrible, so for defense:
• Give him something to avoid getting stuffed by crouching attacks on wakeup - Make lk Upkicks hit vs crouching perhaps, or at least give exMGU more invulnerability frames to stuff meaties
• Make lk Sobat like it was in Super so that it hops over and beats lows
• Make his punish game better, buff cr.lk or cr.lp to make them faster so that he can deal with moves like Rekka better (I personally think Fei is one of his very worst matchups).

I’d love to hear your opinions and see if you agree or not. We should all come up with a few select, crucial buffs that we all push for in unison though! Moving DeeJay up the tier list is what counts.

the problem with this game in general is that its too safe.

moves can be thrown out for no reason.

i’ll save that rant for another time.

lk sobat being safer would help. the guile match is painful because we can’t pressure him outside of frame traps.

ex mgu should have more invul or faster start up. its pretty useless as a reversal against knowledgeable opponents.

Is this reasonable to ask for?

Faster start up on cr. hk, other characters slides are more viable. Would help timing on getting under fireballs in bad fireball war match-ups.
cr. lk 3-4 frames so he can crouch tech considering he has no other options.
A decent damaging normal combo to use when he doesn’t have charge (don’t all charge characters excluding Deejay have this?)
A viable way to punish abused teleports
Ultra 1 and Super given better properties to punish fireball spam.

Questions for discussion sake:
Wouldn’t having U2 be double fireball motion help in match ups where Deejay makes a good read but can’t punish due to charge?
Would it be bad to have Deejay be more like this:
