If chun Li is able to punish Ex Hb with sweep, then things are even worse. I will post a list with punishes, but for now ryu and Ken will punish us with sweep, Gouken with sweep and Ex tatsu, Sagat with Hp TU, Ex Tk, Hp Tu fadc Ultra. Sagat doesn’t even need kara tu, regular tu works.
as far as EX Headbutt, it sucks but every DP in the game is going to be pretty unsafe now at -5 so it does not seem as balanced in that environment to have the current ex headbutt.
there are certain characters that will be able to really take advantage of this and mix you up much harder because of the fear of punished ex HB w/ultra. Very similar to fighting Dudley in the current form.
Some of the matchups will be really bad for sure
im hyped on decapre, i have wanted to play cammy for awhile but i really like charge characters… now there is a charge cammy w/ hands. really hyped for the 3v3 mode she is going to round out my team perfectly. i should have every matchup covered w/ honda guile decap
It’s not the same thing, though. DP fadc will be -5 only when doing fw dash. If you do back dash, is still perfectly safe.
So I was having a discussion with someone regarding the EX Headbutt nerf and I came with this suggestion;
Even though EX Headbutt is Option Selectable by pretty much everyone in the game, I can see where everyone’s coming from when they say it’s dumb that a 1 meter special is safe on block when used as a reversal or anti pressure tool.
Although, the legitimate smart reasons to do a midscreen/fullscreen ex headbutts and knowing it will be blocked or hit are imo against characters like Sagat, Dhalsim, Chun Li, Akuma, Juri and Cody (maybe more, idk). There are little reasons to do it on other characters (if you have the life lead), if you do it’s usually a waste of meter. Now, the reason why it’s good against the list of mentioned characters is simply to GET IN. For example; when Sagat is spamming fullscreen tigershots, then Hondas usually use ex headbutt on reaction to a low tiger shot. Ofcourse things on reaction get blocked, but the main reason why we used this is to get inside and in perfect range walk forward or jump. Same idea counts for all other mentioned characters.
The mentioned characters are also Honda’s bad matchups, It’s not getting any better against these characters in USF4 (minus Cody and Juri).
Anyways, what I think would be an interesting proposal is to make Headbutt quite punishable on block if it connects during its first 1~4 active frames. Give it the same pushback it has currently in USF4. But if EX Headbutt connects during its later active frames, keep the pushback like it was in AE and decrease the damage by 10.
This way it kind of works the same way like how EX Headbutt does more dmg when it connects during its first 2 active frames, but does less dmg during its later active frames currently.
Thoughts? Because, I’m just throwing out ideas here and a lot of people get salty over EX Headbutt and don’t realize that nerfing this won’t balance Honda in the slightest.

maybe they could make jab headbutt travel slightly faster, or have less start up? so we can go through fireballs on a guess without taking much risk, and anti-air more consistently without meter… they could even make it like 80 damage or something…
I’m fine with the EX headbutt nerf and I understand why so many people complain about it, but goddamn they’re buffing characters who’re already strong (Ken, Viper, Makoto) and at least characters who’re recieving nerfs are getting buffs to compenstate (Bison, Rufus, Zangief)
I’m still somewhat hopeful the system mechanics, minor buffs, and nerfs to top tier will help to improve the sumo, but it seems like they’re improving the things he was already good at (high damage, ground game) while making his defensive options complete crap, as well as ignoring his current issues.
