AE v.2013 E. Honda requests

Latest Honda imo:

  • Even easier to be counterpicked by Sagat, Dhalsim, Guile and Ken.
  • Has a tougher time dealing against frametraps, pressure characters or creating space to breath since EX headbutt is shit now.
  • Can deal better against Gief, Hakan, Abel & T.Hawk (as if Honda needed help with those matchups lol)
  • Can stomp on Rog as soon as he has Ultra 2

Better reserve that meter for super, AA and EX hands.

Oh, right I forgot to mention, but since most dp fadc forward result in the opponent being -5, I think we can reversal oicho them for a guaranteed punish.
So it’s quite clear Honda should block more in ultra.

I’m honestly TIRED of writing and suggesting meaningful changes… Capcom knows well the strengths and weaknesses of each character. There are characters who simply are considered second class (or worse) by Capcom, and that simply will NEVER be buffed in order to compete at the highest levels (Honda, Hakan, Dudley, Guy, T.Hawk, and maaaany others…).
However, I care little about this … They can also do the poor sumo-man in pieces, but I’ll continue to use Honda even if it would be the bottom tier…

I just wrote something on Combo’s blog and man I am so mad and upset, everyone is getting buffed to the sky and E.Honda is screwed !

Nah, all I request is U1 to be viable against fireballs and not be so easy to combo from hands.
A solution to this would be to increase the travel speed of Ultra 1 while maintaining 10fr startup.
Also maybe more projectile invincibility on his headbutts.

Imo, EX Oicho full invinc. was pretty overpowered and Honda’s strongest tool in previous builds.
It doesn’t exactly aid Honda in his bad matchups, it really shines in the matches he already has the advantage in and thus serves as the opposite of balancing the game in the big picture.

Ok, I thought more about the changes, and this is what I think:

  • U1 8fr start up and Ex Oicho full invincible are gone. I doubt they will give us back. Capcom consider them too powerfull. Fine with me, but then:

  • Ex Headbutt nerf needs to go. Period. This nerf made sense when we had Ex Oicho full invincible. Now it doesn’t make any sense at all. Honda is what ? a mid tier character that never won a major, and is getting a huge nerf. Even more, this nerf is ruining Honda’s character, since he is supposed to be the best defensive character in the game. He is supposed to give offensive characters trouble.
    So: remove Ex Headbutt nerf completelly.

  • Ultra 1: keep it 10fr start, but also increase traveling speed after the animation

  • As a compensation for U1 being worse: Lp Headbutt: 1-15 frames of fireball invincibility, OR Ex Headbutt’s 9th frame fireball invincibile

  • Ex Oicho: it needs to be worth spending a bar for it: besides throw invincible, increase it’s range to 1.60; OR just increase the range to 1.70, (without throw invincible); OR give it 1 hit of armor. Just being throw invincible is not enough.

Honda lost the 2 most important buffs for him, while keeping the big nerf. This is unacceptable, and the changes above have to happen. I will post this where I can. If you guys can, post too, maybe on twitter - Ex Headbutt nerf needs to be removed completely, Ex Oicho needs to be better, and some compensation for U1.

You guys have to understand that a characters balance is business orientated. Capcom know they destroy Honda, but do not care. The majority of the fans dont want a strong Honda, because he is not very fun to play against. Zangief for example is suffering from the same crap.

There can not a be a top tier or a strong character that is boring to fight against. That is not going to happen.

Imagine if all the Ryu and Ken scrubs switched to El Fuerte and T-Hawk. The game wouldnt be so fun anymore, right?

What, you think the game is fun because the scrubs play Ryu and Ken ? I would much rather play Hawk or Fuerte than the stupid online Kens

No, the game would be funnier if people picked characters other than Ken and Ryu, but that is not a realistic scenario.

both ultra with costs 60 percents damage. seems not fair to honda. as honda ultra two does not cost high damage as zangief or thawk.

Nevermind the stealth nerf to jab hands with red focus, nevermind the ex.headbutt getting shit upon by his allready nightmarish matchups, they still think they need to take.away the two good buffs he got, meaning ex oicho full inv and u1 startup. I honestly thought that hands->u1 link was too powerful. I never thought that it’d actually stick around. It would’ve been fun but I expected it gone so I’m not sad and I don’t exactly miss it. I would like U1 to work better against fireballs, I say make it active on 11 and travel twice as fast, but whatever.

The ex ochio nerf though, that’s terrible. I’d still rather not have an ex ochio than have it with throw invincibility. It’s not enough of a buff to justify the fact that ALL of us occasionally mess up an ex headbutt against a crossup and get random ex ochio losing a bar and eating a combo. Ignoring that, I never see Abel players use Tornado throw that way, and that doesn’t even cost a bar. It’s a dumb read and I’d much rather punish a throw attempt with a butt drop if I’m defensive or just frame trap if I’m offensive.

Throw invincible is just stupid. If it at.least it was strike inv, it would have some use. This not so much

One thing we have going for us is at least is the jump MP buff. i dont remember what it was like in super (that was like 3-4 years ago now) but my friend says he remembers it being brutal to AA.

I find myself not using too much EX headbutt these days anyway. Late AA only, never for pressure. I think it will be decently hard to react to anyway if someone is pressuring you with a block string or frame trap or whatever. it sucks but i dont think its gonna completley kill honda.

i just really wanted that ex oicho buff and I thought that would have complemented that ex hb nerf really well. maybe they will give it back, who knows.

i prob wont use ex hands with +1, its too unreliable. It seems somewhat worth the meter… i dont know, its some decent damage off 1 bar, especially if you link back to FP HHS. Shit is really hard. I end up missing that link so much. I don’t know… I like Super a lot. Also the links will be timed differently now dont know if you guys heard about that but thats apparently how they are fixing unblockables. maybe it will make it easier?

u2, ok its better on paper, but now its hard to execute. might end up using it even less than i do now. I have a hard time executing it as is.

+10 damage on st. fp, ok, is that really going to swing a match in your favour??? insignificant.
+1 active frame on mk? insignificant
+1 frame s/u on u1? hardly gonna make a difference. I’m pretty good with that ultra actually as is but it seems unlikely it will be noticeably different.

Would rather just scrap all changes and just see like 20 extra damage on jump mp + fp, 20 on st fp, 10 more st hk. Keep his approach + mixup tools shitty but then he kills you quickly.

Actually Mike, 360 motion is way more.reliable than 2xhb. It was.easier to do in super, never missed my inputs then, i do now though.
Ex hands buff is quite.significant actually, i can hit the cr.lp link after it allready quite reliably now, it wil be even easier in ultra. 2 Bars gives you pike a 350-400 damage punish with cr.lpxxex hands, ex hands, cr.lp hp hands hk… pretty awesome.
Red focus will fuck us so much though, especially in the.end of a match. You wont be able to pressure with hands reliably fearing a crumple once anyone has 2 bars.

i been doing a lot of thinking and my main 2 brutal matches are actualy rufus and seth. If you’ve seen my play i actually dont use ex headbutt very often in fact i mostly just use it against rufus and seth to try to escape thier wakeup bullshit. i am a strong advocate for saving for super. the fact that we have delayed wakeup now, i at least have a decent chance to escape from those assholes.

I think the main trick for avoiding red focus is varying your approach options. It is currently very hard to focus a MP. I am using this buttton a lot right now when pinning someone down whos turtling. youve got 4 buttons basically, MP, st fierce, st hk, and LP (HHS). HK + FP are focus bait. lp HHS now red focus bait. you have the option of walk up nj/jump back bait, walk up block bait, and walk up focus bait. utilizing MP is close to the lp range and is a great button to bait a red focus and have them burn 2 bars. does good damage too for how fast it is. the hitbox/hurtboxes blow though. many normals beat it. but even walk up focus-> dash back would work great. its just 1 more thing to think about. it helps honda too, now divekickers have to really fear it (if you can actually react to it quicky enough)

to be honest that is a HUGE guess for someone to red focus a HHS and burn 2 bars and if its end of round chip out well they will eat it anyway because they have no life left. and thne if you bait it with mp or just a walk up nothing then its gone and you can go back to work.
