Too bad i’m on Xbox, i will lookin’ for a solid Claw in my region.
I like vega cuz when i get in i can do things. Until then i feel like i want to suicide. stupid c.MP dammit vega.
What do you like about st.strong as an anti-air as opposed to jab, elec or cr.mp? I always felt the hitbox looked kinda bad for anti air and would generally lead to trades?
I feel like I used to use it a lot but kinda stopped in favour of other normals.
vs. jab active frames
vs. elec no need to buffer
vs. cr.mp angle. If characters divekick at different points in their jump arcs or use different versions cr.mp can outright lose then you eat a combo. I’d rather trade half the time and aa cleanly the other half than win 3/4’s of the time and eat a combo the other 1/4 of the time.
And stand HK ?
st.hk problem is that the active frames that aa are only 2 or so frames but happen late in the animation.
If you wait a bit you can end up getting cl.hk instead and get ch.
Basically st.mp just has ease of use on its side.
Ok i see, never really use the stand mp for aa dives, now i will think about it.
Hey guys. you’ll never guess what button is both dead safe on whiff and stuffs Vega cr.mp and any other poke he does after teching a throw midscreen.
Hmm not a single i assume infortunately.
um, technically nothing is safe against vega on whiff if he reacts fast enough?
My gut tells me your gonna say standing fierce…which means my gut is stupid.
I give up, answer? standing mp?
far standing mk.
post tech the spacing is just right. It’s amazing.
The only thing they can do is walk forward first and hit you if he knows to do this (you can’t react from out of range) but most vegas are just gonna throw out cr.mp straight after throw tech cos of the spacing and how safe it usually is. And if they do it gets beaten clean every time and makes you look like a jedi.
far mk is oddly goofy but useful. Has a hitbox that is solid against a lot of problem normals. Someone should do research on it in a comprehensive manner.
And I don’t mean me.
It hits the same kinda space i’ve seen a Makoto player hit to stuff Vega pokes/rolls using her weird cr.mk
good stuff Mehtbh, i’ll def try that vega tech. far standing mk also works for situational AA
Edit: and yeah Nishikin seems to be grinding the arcade lately, climbed up 11 spots overall, so weird specially with his extended elec spam tech lately…
Good old jab

Okay with more practice with a decent Vega’s player, i don’t think Vega is bad, you can poke him actually but only with few normals and the best is standing jab at a certain range where it can counter his crouching strong, yes this range is not easy to have because you will eat a lot of crouching strong if you walk forward but it’s really possible.
Dance on the ground patiently, play footsies and look for a knockdown and for a mix-up/set-up, cr.lk xx hp elec works on him crouching, overhead is nice but watch if he has his U2 charged or not (punish on hit…), frame traps (Vega doesn’t have a 3f so frame traps like close strong to cr. forward works) etc… and if you have the lifelead, the match-up become much more easy. You just have to react to his attempts of kara throw and stuff like that which is not that scary if you know it and after that, he can’t do nothing to open your guard.
I’m much more scared of Cammy/Seth/Honda right now…
biggest problem is that good Claw players poke with cr.mk
such a good normal =|
Claw is hard to deal because he has better footsies ahd his hitbox is bullshit.
He has a better walkspeed, better pokes with much range than your safest pokes, better kara throw… i can’t approach him, it’s like worse than fight against Bison. Elec whiff a lot on him, it’s really hard to frame trap him. And balls are hard to use since his U2 can punish you on hit, never do a cross up combo with ball, NEVER if he has U2.
Maybe it’s me, i don’t have enough practice against him, i will try to play with what Josh has posted here.
If the standing strong has a better range/hitbox and a fastest start up, this match-up can be better i think.
Standing strong is a little too slow in this match. Its all standing jab, low mk for me.
I can only stress patience in this match. Mucho mucho patience. But when u get that knockdown, however u do it, u gotta be on that shit.
Also, I think its fairly easy to frame trap vega. His fastest poke is 4 frames, which is certainly easier than 3.
The elec is kinda random, though last couple times I played a vega I didnt have a single elec problem. I think if you hit fp elec, things work out a bit better.
