It’s easier with Denjin.
After your tatsu hits, juggle them with a late level 1 or level 2 foucs and dash out after that, you stay in front and have more time to input ultra.

Basically any opportunity where your opponent would have enough frame disadvantage for you to even land a Tatsu (outside of a combo obviously), you can already land an Ultra 1, generally speaking. For example, a whiffed / blocked Shoryuken or Ultra. The thing is, I choke and instead of launching the U1 right away I back throw and then do it, but that lowers the damage a little bit, a change I think was added in AE.
I came back to Gouken today for a good number of matches after a rather long stint with Gen. I swear I ran into like 5 Sakuras in a row today and that is my worst Gouken matchup. Needless to say they ended very miserably.
the trouble with punishing with Ultra 1 is that even though the opponent is currently in front of you, they could end up behind you when you execute the Ultra 1. If the U1 had a good hit-box right on top of Gouken’s head, it would be viable as a straight punish. I really hoped this could be added in v.2012, but regrettably it did not…
In most of those cases just walk under and back throw them. If you don’t have time for that just block or EX Kongo.
lol
i switched to an octo gate from a sqr and realized u1 came out in half the time…circle gate is next
I used octo at first but once I tried square for a few days and then switched back, the octo felt constrictive. I feel like diagonal jumping and srk motions take too much of riding the gate.
you got that rigght…I think Im gonna have a custom square gate made at my boys shop.
