I dont really care if you guys complain, I just think its funny. From what I have read the only people that will be bothered by these “nerfs” are scrubs.

p.s. I main blanka and so far all sounds good. He isnt getting any better but not really getting any worse. Of course if you’re a scrub who likes to spam hp.blanka balls from half screen or mash on cr.hp for that slide then you might have a problem. lmao

if you can’t use HP ball at all even at close range that is a nerf… i’m not sure how you can consider that “not really getting any worse”…

So from what i understand, blanka’s close mp, both the overhead and the two hit headbutt, are going to have enough plus frames to link to a jab, yes?

But recently i thought i read that the pushback on the overhead at least, will be the same as in Ssf4. I was testing recently, and except in very specific situations, the overhead pushback is pretty far and connecting a lp is highly unlikely.

This makes me think that, even if the light punch can connect after the overhead, it looks like only a ball will combo, and not the electricity. As the ball is being ran to the ground, i consider electricity combos as the only real ones left for poor blanka. If the overhead is likely to not be able to lead to an elec combo, does this make any overhead combo potential rather moot except on certain characters that cannot punish? Also must consider that if the link is kinda hard, and you screw up the light punch after the overhead and accidently shoot the ball out, the potential damage you will receive for a screwed up combo are really really bad.

So I have noticed people havent talked too much about the new two hitter. I know it seems kinda redundant with the close MK, unlesss the combo works off the overhead. So i am assuming the developers are allowing the overhead to combo, as the alternative seems pointless.

Here’s hoping for some form of invincibility on the ex elec.

Also, any new news on the crouch FP? I have heard from non official sources its getting nerfed, but i havent heard it from anywhere legit.

Also in the rumor mill is a nerf on his upball, reducing the time it comes out from 4 to 5 frames. Complete rumor mill, but comes from some location test folks, and no clue if in the final.

My best hope for blanka in the next game is that if the ball is nerfed (its already known its easier to punish even before block), that he gets a buffed, pseudo reversal ex elec and a new overhead game, leaving most of his other current game as it is.

Well, im pretty sure I get punished on a blocked hp.blanka ball now most of the time so guess what? I rarely use it. So no, to me thats not really a nerf. They just made it so every character can punish it on block.

Blanka is nothing more than a very rare counter pick to characters like, seth and viper. I see a lot of his matchups getting much worse, e.g. Ken, Zangief.

To me, the blog translation seems to say that the only distance change is HP & MP on block recoil a shorter distance; everything else is the same. In a nutshell, you can’t chip with HP Ball against that handful of characters that couldn’t freely punish it on block anymore.

yes against a set number of characters ball can’t be used. But blanka has favorable matchups vs ryu/ken/gief because of the ability to use ball at close range as a chip or a CH. Without it causes those matchups to be a harder. Complaints are more that they don’t do anything to chun li and balrog… but they do things like remove his ball effectiveness AND reduce his hop’s effectiveness. So that to me is annoying…

With the ball nerf, playing shotos is going to be such a pain. In addition, since most of blanka’s combos > 3 hits are one-framers, there is a lot of risk at stake, when doing something fairly basic like j. hk, cr. mk, s. lp, ball. To compensate, they could at least make his elec hitbox a little larger so half his combos wouldn’t whiff when ending in elec. Now, if you f-up your s. lp link, you will get severely punished upon your blocked ball.

tsrai plays the match up right, but look at the gd blanka hate/nerf him comments - makes me sad.

dirzzt - Any decent blanka has lemented these nerfs already, so i dont kow which scrubs you’re talking about, and watching any tsrai match vs a shoto makes it blindingly obvious he will feel the nerf also. If you don’t recognise the need to the ball in certain matchups you’re obviously just playing shit comp.

i’m new to this site,
why do they hate this character so much? I mean, isn’t better to have different characters? If he is like that almost since the beginning, and the game attempts to emulates SFII’s style, isn’t this “nerf mode” gonna destroy the core of the character?
I mean, since it’s his “nature” to be like that (as the rushdown characters, and as the zoners, etc) why going against such a veteran character just because of a fatality, as being this game more defensive than others?

People prefer playing offensively, so they tend to dislike characters that prevent them from doing so. You’ll hear similar complaints about Guile, Dhalsim and Boxer etc. Many people rage more about Blanka though because they are under the impression that it takes significantly less skill to win with him than with other chars who limit their offensive capabilities.

Is there any offline or tourney footage of this TSRAI dude?

The same Nerf-team better be nerfing Hondas hundred-hand-slap, I’m getting sick of Honda HHS spammers, shit seems to have it’s own gravitational field or something? Nearly matches a U1 on chip damage at this stage. Royal PITA.
