i didn’t know you could meaty cr.lk into sweep. Will try ves’s setup for it next time i play, atm i’m playing dead space!

In Veserius’ post, he mentions he comboed cr.lk in to sweep so it does work off that setup against most chars. The cool thing is that if you’re quick enough you can confirm a CH for a theoretical 4f(!!!) link into U1.

Normal cr.lk = 1f link into U1.
Late meaty = 3f (guaranteed by Vers’ setup)
CH late meaty = 4f

The charge timing on that is very tight. you actually have to let go of uf before you see Blanka jump as far as I can tell, and it only works because of the hitstop on cr.lk haha.

charge timing not so tight if you sweep someone while you are in the corner holding db. Easy peasy there.

Edit: I got it to work once midscreen only, and I might have just messed up the meaty lk

The cr.mk meaty is much more lenient timing wise

Oh also meaty cl.mp = 3 frame link into ultra on Cammy/Sagat. Just do the mp uf in landing frames like you would off of a connected jumpin.

Edit 2: if you aren’t landing these, you have to do the ultra motion very very quickly and late, you don’t have a surplus of charge time like you normally do.

Yeah I just realized that now. I tried it out in training mode and the +4f doesn’t really matter cos timing the charge is much harder. Also noticed that after a CH sweep, the opponent gets knocked down for maybe 1 or 2f longer…

Yeah I can actually tabulate how long CH sweep knocks down for, gimme a sec.

later active frames sweep too can cause problems as well with the meaty setups.

Edit: believe counterhit sweep knocks down for 3 extra frames because cl.mp whiffs, but counterhit cr.mp, st.lp combos afterwards. st.mp meaty normally hits on the 7th frame, but that whiffs, cr.mp hits on frames 7-10, but is normally -2, counterhit bonus puts it +1, meaty on third active frame ='s +3 allowing jab to combo, and you can still meaty sagat with cr.mp after you do counterhit sweep and he gets up one frame slower, which confirms that it isn’t 4 extra frames or the cr.mp would whiff against him as it does against Blanka!

you mean like doing super after cMP? i played around with that in the lab: jHK or jHP > cMP > super (works only with light or medium, hard super always whiffed on me). if that works with U1 after a cMP, that would be really nice surprise :slight_smile:

btw, can U1 connect after a sMK?

Ultra after cl.mp is actually easier than super. Common knowledge just giving the heads up to people about the meaty setup.

Unless the first hit of the mk whiffs, and the second hit hits late, then no. I don’t know of a meaty setup for it either, though I could probably bang one out in 2-3 minutes, it is pretty worthless to try to link into ultra.

Thank ilitirit for my meaty setup though, if he hadn’t been talking about hop meaties I honestly wouldn’t have tried the sweep one at all.

haha, i stopped entering tournaments when i got a job, 2009 was my year to play SF seriously when i was a bum! Now i’m just an armchair warrior

Haha, I need to get back to playing tournaments now that I’m healthy and the holidays are mostly over.

On the flip side being sick in bed for months got me to grasp system mechanics much more deeply and to do more labwork. I think I’m a much smarter player now than I was 4 or 5 months ago, and I’ve learned to be more patient because I had to work harder for every win when my body was breaking down and I had no execution.

I hope they didn’t tweak Blanka’s knockdown numbers in AE, I’m going to be working on more meaty/safejump setups and I would hate for them to go to waste.

What they need to do is standardize his throw knockdown numbers so that this safe jump setup works against everyone: f.throw, nj, j.hk. Currently it only works on Juri, Ibuki, Makoto, Fuerte (when he doesn’t have U2 stocked), Rufus and Dictator

I contracted Epstein Barr(mono). If you get it when you are older or as a kid it doesn’t really do anything, but I’m 23 so it messed me up.

Was sleeping 12 hours a day and still tired, and going on a short walk would leave me very very fatigued, and my organs/lymph nodes were swollen + some other symptoms.

Was not fun. Also before I knew I was sick I drank a couple of beers one night, and I had an absolutely horrible hangover, and I’m the sort who doesn’t get hungover no matter how much he drinks. Headache, nausea, whole thing. Felt super awful off of 3 beers.

yeah that safejump setup has always confused me I have no idea why those characters would get up faster from knockdown.

i wasn’t talking about the close standing medium punch which i know you can link into ultra. but i don’t like it as the chance to jump back up is too high.
i wanna know if crouching medium punch can link into ultra. into super is a 1 framer i think.

cr.medium punch can’t. unless you do a stupid meaty setup that isn’t practical. It’s a cancel when you do cr.mp -> super mate.

Pretty much. If they do something invincible your j.hk will whiff, and you’ll block their reversal, or in the case of fuerte be able to punish the whiffed leg throw. If they do something non invincible you will stuff it and potentially counterhit them.

if the second hit of close forward lands as a counterhit you can link ultra one; i think if you hit your opponent during a focus attack the first hit is absorbed and the second one counts as a CH…
