AE Changes and Comments

Hi guys,

so… I found out there’s a few arcades here that holds SSF4AE… however… they are set at 3 round (usually SF4 here are 5 rounds) and it’s double the price… and despite the fact I went when not many people playing… i’m still playing against people… so… i had limited amount of time to try it out…

but here’s my first impression.

  1. Ball… as expected… got nerfed big… expect everybody being able to punish HP ball on block… MP ball… hm… maybe not… LP ball you know how it is… but because of this you’re definitely gonna use ball much smarter…

  2. Slide… block stun imo… is exactly the same… Guile still manage to c.HK me… however… i can say… because the active frames is shorter… it does take some reaction to punish you back… if you’re not ready for it… you’re not gonna punish it… unlike before… it’s out there SOOOO long you are guaranteed to get hit… as far as other aspect of slide goes… imo… i don’t find it as a nerf yet… in fact because of the shorter active frame making the overall move shorter and needs to react more… i see it as a minor buff

  3. EX electricity: ok… i don’t think it’s got any invincibility frames… but i gotta say… there’s several times when i felt like there might be…i really don’t know how i feel about it… but it does definitely comes out much faster and i can see it being a more viable tool

  4. c.LK - this is buffed… it’s gotta be… i dunno exactly how… but I was able to much easier do my combos… and i suck at them in general… like j.hk, c.lk, c.lk, c.lk, s.lp, ball, super i’ve done this twice… was surprised i can still land super after that many kicks… anyways…I dunno what it is… but c.LK is improved… I dunno if it’s 3 frames though… i did try cl.MK -> c.LK and it didn’t work… but like i said my timing sucks

  5. rockcrusher… yes it’s possible for both to link to s.LP… however i think it’s character specific… works on fat characters… i can’t seem to land on skinny chicks… imo… fairly useless buff… didn’t really get speed up

  7. ex rainbow - if you try to pull away and go away… like everybody said major nerf interms of how far you can escape… however it’s definitely a buff if you are using it as a reversal… and trying to go for either 50/50 or reposition yourself… … the flying backwards thing… is really much appreciated but will take a lot more time to get used to now… with this new ability… with this moving backwards thing… i dunno if i would say this move is nerfed or not… because although not going as far sucks… but being able to go backwards is a buff definitely especially in those situation you just got crossed over in the last second and you’re flying back towards the wall… now you can still pull yourself back by quite a distance.

if you want… you can tell me to try out some certain combos and i’ll try my best to perform it… keep in mind my combo ability sucks… so don’t expect too much…

all the other normals seems the same to me.

any buffs on cr.MP ?

and at 1:10 it seemed like st. mp got faster.

wow!!! okay…ball got nerfed!
but now we seem to get more buffs than i expected!

better st.MP helps a lot against boxer! cr.LK buff is HUGE! bachkwards ex rain is NICE!
overhead rockcrusher is HUGE!!! meaty overhead into s.LP xx ball xx super FTW!!! OR meaty overhead into ULTRA FTW!!!

Also try to check if jab xx elec loops still whiff against Abel, Ryu etc

st.LP > cr.HK would be godlike!!!

my dream is faster c.LK. level 2 dream is faster c.MK c.MP. level 3 dream is better frames on c.HP. Limbo is electric loops for hitboxes work on more characters!

Starting to wonder if most of the buffs for Blanka weren’t mentioned in the dev blogs so that noobs didn’t freak out about Blanka, their favorite character to hate, getting buffs.

Cr.lk buff is exciting. I’m going to guess that even if it’s 4 frames, it’s probably +5 on hit now, since Lau was able to pull off cr.lk x 3 to super. This would mean 2 frame link to U1 I think (correct me if I’m wrong)

Blanka ball nerfs don’t concern me yet, except like what everyone mentioned against characters like Gief, and the shotos.

Blanka’s EX rainbow roll isn’t as good, but neither are the shotos air tatsus to get out of the corner. I think there was a general overall buff to offensive play in AE and giving character less oppotunities to get out of the corner would make sense and fit into that. If everyone’s corner escape moves got nerfed, I wouldn’t feel bad about Blanka’s corner escape move getting that same nerf.

2 frame link into Ultra?
I know we already had u/b st. mp, but dang, that is acceptable off of cr. lk if true. I doubt it’s true though…

The only explanation would be chainable cr.lk’s then. That would make sense.

dont worry about it, a buffed cr.lk wouldn’t change much for blanka at high level play unless you could link into his sweep. he still has zero way to mount an offense, especially vs characters with 3 frame chainable jabs.

How can you say that. it links into a hit ball and i believe on some hitboxes you can link like c.LK c.LK s.LP electricity. Having a crouchtech that is 3 frames that can link into a special is really good. And on mixups having a 3 frame low that cancels into HP electricity?

It for sure would be be helpful at high levels. 3 frame jabs are hard because they are fast, if your normals get faster that can only benefit you. Personally if his c.LK and a few normals are buffed i would probably say that he is just as strong if not stronger vs the cast in AE.

I’m extremely curious about this c.mk buff…I keep hearing its faster but no one knows exactly how fast…As for the ball nerf…doesnt concern me as much as I thought it did…especially since I end most of my combos in electricity now…still gotta change some things though.

But still really curious about c.mk lol

Yeah I was hoping that elect combos and loops connect on more chars but LAU says it feels the same so I’m not getting my hopes up any more.

blanka has nothing to make the opponent jump or let go of d/b. He’s still really bad on wakeup and his mixups are still crap. He can’t punish cr.tech easily and he’s low damage. His footsies are actually no longer great, they used to be good in vanilla, but with everyone elses hitboxes being tweaked his normals often leave you coming up short. how is a 1 f faster cr.lk going to help me do anything to dudley? How does it stop me geting blown out by sagat fireballs? How does it help me stop sim b+lk?

a faster startup will help with cr.teching, and doing cr.lk > walk forward > cr.lk > st.lp x elec counter hit trap but thats it. If it was extra +frames on hit then yeah thats something but blankas problems weren’t having a crap cr.lk.

his c.tech punisher is cs.MK linked to s.LP xx electricty. you’re right c.LK being faster doesn’t help you face vs sagat fireballs. but it does help you increase the potency of your pressure vs a lot of slow normal cast members like abel/sim/honda/etc. Also that c.LK will help vs dudley. Having a normal that is just as fast as his requires him to be even more on point in any mixup situation.

Yes there are other things that would increase his potentcy much more i agree. Having a c.HK that is just as good as chuns or balrogs would be nice. c.HP with faster startup and better frame on block/hit would be awesome. But people are mentioning if c.LK is better and i would be happy to have that buff. It does help at high levels, it may not help as much as we want it to, but it for sure does help. At this point with all the nerfs to other characters, hearing that your charater may have a buff to a normal he uses a lot is good to hear.
