AE 2013 Yang wishlist

Cancellable far Standing Mp is gonna make his footsie game even stronger

One things for sure, cancelable st. MP will make it easier to cancel into MK up kicks(assuming it work) lol. I always screw up and do the teleport instead when I mess around with Yang in training mode. These changes does make me want to pick him up as a side character.

Yeah easily the biggest buff asides from the cross-up buff. St. LK at 4-frames is great but not even close to being as big as that buff to far MP.

There’s a picture on the changes panel showing yang punishing a blocked cr.mk from ryu. It seems st.lk is back to 3 frames.

Soooo
Who exactly requested that faster walkspeed change
Or are they giving him +0.001 to put his fwd walkspeed on par with the top?

There was a scrub at every character change request thread at unity demanding that their character needs a faster walkspeed. Even Yang’s. I just can’t believe that Combofiend actually thought it was a good idea. Could be that they just changed his backward walkspeed which isn’t the fastest but there aren’t that many who are faster.

With the fastest walkspeed and normal changes, he’ll be a monster in the ground game. Top that with a divekick threat and a crossup…i don’t think these changes will stick past locktests, unless they really push the buffs on the other characters and screw balance.

I was just about to post about his walkspeed, maybe a buff to his backwards walk speed(it’s already above average)? I would welcome a change like that.

I don’t mean to be rude, but did NO ONE NOTICE HOW MUCH DAMAGE YANG WAS DOING?! HOLY CRAP. He took off a chunk of Ryu’s health with the j.HP, st.MP, st.MP Mantis slash combo. Damage buff confirmed!

This is definitely not a combo, between st mp - far mp, that’s why.

Not exactly, I checked the frame data for 2012 and tested it. It’s a combo, albeit a one frame link. Also, if you look at the video, there’s no combo counter. Honestly, there’s really no way to tell, but one thing’s for sure: Yang got a damage buff. I tried the same combo on Ryu; even without the link, it does significantly less damage, especially with the far standing MP being mantis slash cancelable.

Considering auto-block wasn’t on and combo counter wasn’t being displayed we can’t be sure if there was just a reset in between the two strongs, something that I think happened because so much damage came from the final rekka in a situation where damage scaling should have been put down to 30%.

Easiest way to figure it out is to measure the damage between the strongs. If they’re even it likely wasn’t a combo (or they increased far strong damage/changed scaling)

He is supposed to be a monster in the ground game. As combofiend said, Yun is more about all out aggression, while yang is supposed to be able to play a sick, well calculated footsie game. They didn’t say anything about changing the dive kick at all, and right now he has the worst divekick in the game by far. The reason his crossup/divekick mix-up used to be so good was because his divekick could basically hit the top of your head and still be safe, allowing for his 50/50s setups to be too good and too safe. Now he can barely combo if he hits you in the midriff with the divekick.

This plus the fact that almost EVERYONE is getting buffed, from what I have seen so far moreso than Yang, makes me think the changes are completely logical for his playstyle and not at all overpowering.

That’s what I mean^^

Nvm

yippee crossup medium kick will make it much less frustrating to play Yang.

Can’t wait to get my hands on this update.

Oh hey there’s something that changed with that cl. MP, st. LP, cr. MK combo. It doesn’t combo without a jump-in currently against Ryu. Either they changed something about Ryu or they lessened the pushback on cl. MP.

Keep in mind these changes are not set in stone. Capcom will still gather data from the location test and change accordingly. There were other segments in the video such as Cody throwing his knife for armor break, Fei Long unable to reversal a c. strong against ryu, and various others I can’t think because I never used them. If anything, it looks like the majority of the cast is getting some buff/equalized balance to compensate for a balance adjustment or in other words a nerf. Let’s just wait for the info and hope for the best veteran yang players!
