Advanced V.G. 2 (AVG2) Thread - The Ultimate Full-Contact Waitress Fighter

Alright, we got it worked somehow so there is actually hope for online AVG2 (I tried it with another guy, looks like he plays the game too.) @Plexo_Tlipoca‌ Move in North America so we can play some games, hehe!

Make sure to:
[] use the same ISO (PM me so I’ll tell you where to get it)
[
] use the same emu version (keo-bas and me both used ePSXe 1.60 and it worked, but 1.60 vs 1.90 doesn’t work)
[] have the sound plugin configured the correct way
[
] share the same memory card

have the pads configured the correct way
The first 2 points are so you can actually join a game and press the Start button.
The last 3 points are so you can play without desync/lost connection issues.

I’ll post pics to show how to set the emu (pay attention and do exactly as the instruction goes, I can’t stress this enough, skip one step and online goes to shit):

Video

[details=Spoiler]Check FPS Limit and set it to 60 fps.

[] Select Eternal SPU 1.50
[
] Check the first three options
[] For audio device, select DirectSound - Buffer size to 64
[
] For audio out method, select SPUasync - mode: simple

Disable/uncheck/set to 0 all the rest.

Netplay

[details=Spoiler]Choose CyberPad 1.4

Memory Card

[details=Spoiler]Both players have to share the same memory card. Just to make sure the game loads the same save, set both ports from your end to the same memory card.

Host

Client (yeah I know, it’s the same pic; I just wanna insist that both players have to have the same file, it’s really friggin’ important you have no idea.)

You can also select a savefile downloaded from Gamefaqs if you’re too lazy to unlock characters/stages. You don’t even have to convert it. Don’t forget that both players have to share the same savefile. Anyway, I don’t think the boss characters dominate the game all by themselves. I’m pretty sure Kaori can beat them even without the infinite (dumb fireball super, dumb drill.)

Host and client

Pads

[details=Spoiler]Disable multitap.

Pad 1
[] Select Digital Only
[
] Set all the Rumble settings to None

Set your buttons
Pad 2

Same shit, but set all buttons to None by clicking on Clear.

Aight. Time for troubleshooting:

"This ROM is not available on your computer."
Most likely both players don’t have the same game version OR the same emu version (by the way, ePSXe 1.90 also works.) We use the SLPM-87226 version, the SuperLite 1500 re-release.

“Lost connection”/black screen
Is the port open on both side? Do you share the same savefile? Are you trying to play with someone who lives on the Moon?

"Game is out of sync."
Did you set the sound plugin correctly?

I’ve seen 3 types of jumps in the game. Normal jump, super jump (the one that you mentioned) and the ultra jump, wich is a ridiculous jump that goes from one side of the screen to the other. It isn’t easy to do, but is very viable.

I’m sure that i can do that since i’ve wrote it. It has been a while though, i even forgot the animation for that move. The loop may be not very practical but it is possible. I guess you can get more repetitions against Chiho and still, i think is a good pressuring tool.

The characters i played the most were Jun and Kyoko. Saki not so much. And i remember Tamao being very nice. She can do a command grab into a super combo, and can dodge some attacks while crouching unlike Yuka because of her height.

I’m happy you are playing and keeping alive the thread. Not so happy about living too far.

Thanks for the emulator setup.

I’ve done the loop, it’s not hard.

Jun’s f+hp startup is 16f and is -10 on block (-6 if you cancel it into her b,db,db+lk dodge move very early.) It doesn’t look very good for applying pressure. By the way, it’s not worth canceling her normals into her lk sway. Most of the time, it puts her at a bigger frame disadvantage.

Also, tech roll can be punished by 1-frame supers. I guess this is why Japanese players never tech after Satomi’s high/low oki: they’re afraid of the tech trap.
