Admitting defeat and taking a loss

when i get beat by someone that is really more skilled than me, I always send him a message and compliment for the good fight, because by watching that fight again i know i’ll learn something. Other than that…

I have to admit that I keep losing to bad Fireballer characters (Ryu, Ken, Akuma etc.) with my Makoto.
All they have to do is spam hadokens and shoryukens. Which really sucks in my case but, besides that I beat a horrible Dhalsim and Gen player with Makoto lol.
Also how many Dhalsim players are there? I mean it’s kinda weird how they all play exactly the same and every character can have a hard time with him also

I’m pretty much still a complete noob with fighting games, so ya… even when I get a 3 or 5 game winning streak it sucks when you get beat by a flowchart ken or guile. But hey… it’s all about learning.

whoops wrong thread

Whoops

Thanks for that…?
Actually how could you mistake this thread for another one lol
unless it’s above or below the one you wanted?

I dislike rage quitters. They should count it as a win for the player that doesnt quit to penalize people who do quit. If you don’t want to ruin your score don’t play ranked matches. simple as that. I see like 70% Ryu/Ken players and the rest are Adon, and Ibuki. Tho there was one Gief who was very confident

Figuring out why you lost is the most important thing, the replay feature is so nice in that sense. Alot of the times I get in the habit of doing things MY way despite what the opponent is doing. For instance I lost a ranked match to a cody player because i kept getting jumped in on and hit for huge combos, I watched the replay because i really really got my ass kicked. I realised he was baiting me into doing hakans st. hp and then jumping in.

People really don’t have much originality online.
Ryu, Ken, Sakura, Dan, Akuma, Sagat and Gouken. (Did i miss someone?)
They all their differences but their all basically the same-just different moves or enhanced moves. (Ken’s Shoryuken etc.)
Then Blanka, Adon, Balrog, M.Bison and Dhalsim. (Haven’t seen too many Vega players)
Thats pretty much all I see and atleast people who are playing as Ibuki are a step up from playing any of the characters above.
Plus Zangiefs and T.Hawks are pretty easy to beat unless you have no idea how they work or they just get lucky.

I also like when people teach me how to win against their character. For example I played against a T.Hawk user and I used Juri and after the match he messaged me saying that I should switch up the fireballs against T.Hawk. that made me feel good that someone was willing to pass that knowledge to a lesser player instead of just bragging.

I am a Ryu player and have to admit the same sort of cirsumstances only involving an occassional Guile opponent. It does suck playing someone who just sits there constantly turtling and slinging sonicbooms only to eat a cr fierce or flash kick if you attempt to draw close.

Those who actually believe that Ryu is still top tier in a SSFIV projectile war is obviously delusional. And yet after the potential loss, especially since I am currently a B rank and most everyone else is not, I do get the also occassional “insult to injury” via messaging. I lost for whatever reason. Bad playing or perhaps I am just not that good or I just faced a better player. In any event, I was simply “out played”. I get it.

There may be more “C” and “D” players out there to actually lose against, however there way more “assholes” out there than anything else.
And that may be wrong to generalize it like that, but it does not sugar coat the hard reality nonetheless. It just means to really appreciate the “good” players/matches when you get the chance.

You do lose points for quitting like you lost, but the opponent doesn’t get the points i believe or maybe you get points, i don’t know. I remember once i had to go so i shut down completely my ps3 and i lost 100+PP.

Starting on the bottom, I am seeing this as good advice. I am sure I will be eating it alot, but that is the road to learning. I can say that no one will ever get any hate mail from me, I promise. Might ask for tips though, so beware in advance ^^

Same here. The worst thing is, those who quit aren’t gonna really learn anything. You have to lose in order to learn.

im a ryu player and find it wierd most people seem to hate him. i can understand wanting to see other characters or whatever but dont get mad at people who actually like the character. he is my favorite character. i also use chun li,sakura, dan, dhalsim, zangief, fei long, guy, ibuki, ken, cammy, akuma and rainbow mika(alpha 3).It just happens that ryu is my favorite and who i am best with. kinda sad to get angry messages from people when i use ryu.

cant win it seems. use ryu and win and im told to use someone else because so many people like a good character and people are tired of facing him. i use another character and still get either crazy messages or people quit before they get their loss.

When I lose in endless I leave because I wanna find new comp if i win lets say 20 in row I then lose to a guy I have won 4-5x times I dont feel the need to stay. I move to find new comp not running away scared or w/e lol

Yeah, I used to message people to give them advice if I beat them or ask for advice if I got beaten, but I usually just used to get negative responses so I stopped doing it.

People need to just chill out and play the game. We aren’t all Diagos online and even he loses sometimes. What I can’t stand is the useless messages from very good players who lost or won. I really despises these people because all respect that I did have for them goes out the window when they send me negative PM’s. It’s like watching a scientists become a garbage man. The shit is embarrassing. On the flip side, people also need to realize that we have lives other then SSFIV or whatever. I for one don’t like waiting 10 minutes for a match when I got to be at work in a hour. So, if I lose in Endless it’s not because I’m salty. It’s because I’m on a time schedule. I want to maximise the time I have to play SSFIV before I go do real world shit. This is mainly why I play Ranked matches most of the time online.

If you wonna avoid sore losers just do what i do dont play on xbox live. Most salty if not pretty much all salty messages i have seen have been on live.

Saying that though my adon is getting loads on PSN at the mo because i use Jaquar kick how rude of me.

At the end of the day everyone takes some losses badly most of mine dont bother me too much unless it was by someone spamming shite techniques that only work online that makes me very salty very salty indeed.

I know the Endless match forum is somewhat dry because no one actually trys to get their shit down but I have thinking about doing this for awhile is just getting groups of people together in a endless match mode.
Besides that a guy thought I raged quit one day and literally I almost won the match due to him/her using Ryu’s 2nd ultra and blocked it right then he landed on the ground and did my ultra (I use Makoto) and everything turns off… my power went out and I had to wait about 5 hours. Got back online and got acouple of 20 messages from this guy just saying douchebag. I did lose some point which I’m mad about but got to get over since it’s just spilt milk
