So, uh, don’t be alarmed. I’m getting bored and I figure, hey, while I have free time, aside from practice, I can actually update the wiki that’s on here.
Just curious, what stuff (aside from the section stuff like Super Arts and other shite like that) should I try and include? I kinda wanna get the info in one solid place for reference, and for anyone who actually might try to get into the game, there’ll be a solid compendium of info as opposed to everything being scattered.
Man, that’s the 2nd time I’ve seen Dander bomb that badly.
Anywho, let’s see what could be added… Buffer parry a jump in? Nica made a vid dealing with Dive Kicks and toward then block is good advice.
Biggest contribution I could think of on the main page would be spelling out that this is different from SF4. Fireballs and sweeps (for a majority of the cast) are unsafe on block, meaties interrupt wakeup attacks, you can quick rise from anything except supers and very few specials, knowing frames is not going to save you, etc. Because I think a majority of the dudes online (3SOE) just have no fucking idea how different this is and think their knowledge of jab links will carry over.
That seems like a waste of time and doesn’t make a lot of sense. There are exceptions to everything you just stated.
Those are all specifics which are largely irrelevant. There’s no amount of information that will make someone understand things. They just need to play.
A link to metric’s video on anti air and to the red parry video someone put together would be helpful I think.
It’s mostly a matter of illustrating game functions clearly. Stuff like parry being explained using example images and different outcomes.
anything more than that isn’t going to help people if they can’t take the time to play the game enough.
It’s a good idea though duralath. If you have some specific ideas for things PM me and maybe I can whip up some graphics for you.
reference twelves air dive ex attack isnt invincible. or that using xflat aim twelves head at players midsection. or youll miss. just like sa tips… that i had brutally found out.
Tebbo: Thanks! As soon as I get to some of the more advanced things, I’ll hit you up for that. Granted, that will be a while (my goal is to finish the basic stuff for every character first before I get to any advanced stuff), but I appreciate the help.
And if I know you’re a character specialist for anything, be assured, I’ll be hitting you up soon for strats and what not.
Another thing (in general) that should be added. Dealing with wakeup Parry. It’s not entirely obvious but touching base on it would be interesting, and then you can go into character-specific shit with that in the individual character pages.
I’m compiling a list of normal strings to UOH->SA2 setups for Remy to keep pressure on opponents when they’re in the corner. Is this the kind of info your looking for?
I really like those videos that explain one aspect of the game and go over all the options. Metric’s anti air video, and the video where 5 star explains 3s oki, I found those really useful. I was watching the 5 star video like once a month as I was starting out, and I think oki is one of the stronger parts of my game because that video was available.
someone making videos for some of the other areas of the game would be useful. rather than saying “this is how you beat wake up parry” or “here’s how you beat dash in grab” you could focus on distinct sections of the game, and break down the options available from one side and see what the consequences and possible interactions are. so we already have that for jump ins and oki, but explaining the wakeup game from a defensive standpoint, or explaining the neutral game between shotos for example. having those resources out there would help new players a lot I think.
I like the idea of having it all in written form on the wiki too, it’s an important resource and some people learn best through reading. it would just be cool to have videos as well.
