Did anybody else notice how bad Daigo’s execution was? His Ken was beasting and was about to win with more than 75% life. Then he messes up short, short x super…
Evil did poorly time wakeup shoryuken, Daigo blocks and does whiff s.MK? WTF?
Daigo tries reversal dp after a tech throw. He gets d.LP xx whiff dp instead.
Daigo is playing good footsies and baits a whiff so he can obviously punish with s.LK xx funny kick. He gets s.LK xx nothing instead.
No offense to French people, but Evil is a scrub. He does jump in attack, poke, poke, then run away, repeat. Random roll in when nobody sane would possibly roll in as well. When Ken is in control of you in the corner and has three levels?
I don’t even need to talk about his Sagat or Guile after watching the first round. I think when Daigo did roll, level 2 from full screen away, it was out of sheer frustration.
You can’t play against scrubs as if you’re playing the Japanese or something. Daigo learned the hard way. Give Daigo good stick and more than just one match, then you’d have to be an idiot to think Evil is going to win again. He’s good because he plays so stupid.
i was watching FRONT ROW the cvs2 semis/finals/3rd place play off
you could say the french guy wasn’t ALL that, but he wasn’t a scrub. he knew what he was doing. one match SE could be considered a fluke, but then also consider beating RF twice, who plays a copycat TEAM-BAS to almost mirror perfection.
i would say his style is more defensive, but, hey, it worked. if you have daigo coming towards you, i would be more inclined to sweat it and hold back a bit
BAS’ slayer is very very cool. even daigo has been playing him based from BAS now, you could see it in the daigo casuals
Yeah Daigo clearly has execution problems in that match, never seen him miss stuff like that. Probably because CVS2 was on console without any way to secure the sticks?
Not to be rude, but at least give the man some credit. He clearly did some work, he played pretty well, and he got to take a decent place in the tournament and can go home saying he beat a couple of Japan’s best.
Now, either take your theory fighter back to your little new game hating theory fighter threads and shaddup, or just give the man some credit without defaming everything in sight. For an old man your manners are lousy
Back on a real subject I got to say, I was watching front row as well for alot of the bracket matches, and I gotta say, if Evil’s a scrub, then Jesus Christ that’s some ridiculous standards right there
Man beats Daigo in Single Elim, nails up RF twice, and would have taken a match against Bas if he hadn’t stopped to taunt in the dumbest place ever (I want to know if they captured that. It’s just absolutely hilarious).
And Chef! You earned and deserved that place in the team, and it’s screwed up to hear you got thrown off just like that. Sorry to hear it. Kick up all the fuss you like. There’s not a person in the SF scene who won’t take your side, and that’d be alot of fuss
And Congrats to Ullysis. Despite the fact that everything was late, you delivered where it counted. Great tournament.
I was talking to the 3s organiser and we were discussing that the UK team is pretty weak, and that a UK/HK team would be stronger, and whether I would still wanna play or give up my spot.
He asks me something at the end of it and I say yes. I THOUGHT he asked me whether I still wanted to be in the team.
But 5 mins later I see him talking with the HK players, and immediately asked him what’s going on.
Then I found out I had been substituted out of the team. I found out that earlier that had ACTUALLY asked me whether I wanted to drop the team, which I replied “yes” to. That’s fair enough, a misunderstanding (most ppl who know me know I am unlikely to lie about this sort of thing, it really was a misunderstanding).
But then I apologised for the misunderstanding, and told him I still wanted to play. But I was then flatly denied a place. I was replaced without my permission (which I was earlier told would be needed). That’s when I started to get pissed off.
A bit later I pleaded with him a second time and reminded that my permission was necessary to forfeit the team. Again flatly DENIED for a 2nd time.
So then I just went round sulking for a while.
Later on, I was offered my place back. But I refused, cause I was still SOOO MAD off I couldn’t think straight or play straight.
I am sorry I neglected to mention this before, I should have. I just didn’t wanna insult the organiser personally, but still wanted to make my point.
But I do reiterate that ALL I did in retaliation was shout a couple words on the mic (aside from that, I tried to contain my anger by sulking/crying and nothing else).
I almost managed to contain myself and not do anything. But I realised if I didn’t say something about it on the day, I would regret it.
I know for a fact that most other people would been a LOT more physical towards someone or something if they were in my place. And I really was tempted to damage the arcade cabinet, which I didn’t.
All I can say is I’m sorry but I just COULDN’T keep quiet about it (although I DID try to for half an hour or so), which explains my mic announcement and forum post.
And I hadn’t even mentioned a few more (albeit unrelated) things that added to me being already so pissed off before the team challenge… namely that I put so much into this tournament, more than most manz (only TheHY and ullysis put a lot more effort in than me, props to them for that), I was judging nearly every game (which ran from 10AM till midnight for 3 days), even got so tired I had to drop TTT and SC2 tournies to go home and sleep (and TTT is my MAIN game!!!)… (also dropped VF4 as well the next day, though I don’t really play it)
…and that my Soul Calibur 2 stick got stolen!!!
All in all… I was NOT a happy camper :bluu:
really (and im not the only one who thinks this), with more matches, and on arcade…, evil couldnt win anymore. his style can be a surprise at the beginning, but after some matches, its over. even me can take a match to daigo. lol. evil did, but at the right moment^^.
I can say the same…why did daigo lose so much energy when he played your s-groove dude. lolol. he didnt throw. why? i saw him playing a s-groove man in japan. he threw a lot. and ni evo, nothing…
evil won this match, and finished 3rd. ok. let him this. But i hope he wont think he’s as strong as them. thats all.
Oh, in #reload, bas is “still learning”. He knows some techniks, but didnt play enough. and we can see it (me, and other french, ok Uk players beat him many times). But i want him to play more. it would be great (he plays millia and slayer, but he told me millia is difficult, thats why hes on slayer now).
And RF faust is too beautiful. he’s a wall. lol. but when we played our main character (him faust, me i-no), i won once (yeah!! :)) on about 6 matches.
He plays eddie very very very well too. He can use bridget and robo ky too. Very good palyer (and he’s a monster at kof98 T____T)
edit: oh, and UK did very well against japan at 5on5 tournament, but japanese missed a lot. dont know why (shit controller?) and daigo didnt play the same as usual (maybe because he played 3rd strike all the day…and suddenly, we ask him to play zero3).
Talk about playing bad under pressure huh? Either that or somebody has random Sagat problems…
I take back what I said ealier. These two aren’t totally scrubs, but I wouldn’t put them in at an expert player level either. As these guys were most likely playing on bad sticks, and Japanese were having problems as well, I’m not going to talk about anything execution related. As for basic strategy, game knowledge, and meter managment, there’s a lot of room for improvement though.
Like Sagat doing s.MK against K-groove Blanka. It’s good that Evil didn’t try it again after being punished for it, but he should of known better in the first place. s.LK would of been a better choice given the situation and match up.
These players are lower mid tier at best.
That scrub Josh Wong (who works for minimum wage at my favorite Chinatown coffee house) would of placed third or second at this tourney. If Evil and Yamazaki are the best in France (btw, what happend to that guy Jimmy? He’s played in Japan and is BAS’s friend last I heard…), I don’t think any Frenchman would be able to beat random U.S. East Coast dude, that’s for sure… lol. We’re used to playing scrubs who run away, roll, random super, and are generally unpredictable. Daigo isn’t. We all use shitty sticks because that’s all we can afford too. Daigo is used to playing on his fancy $2,000 Jap cabinets.
yop.
I entered cvs2, but i lost against kiyo. bah, i dont like this game but i wanted to see as far i could go with my yuri, athena, sakura, a-groove team^^
Playing random/spastic/crazy will take anyone out of their game. I don’t know either Daigo or Evil personally, and I can’t say much about level of play (since I suck). HOWEVER stop making statements about how east coast woud own up france bla bla. I know you said “IF Evil and Yamazaki are the best in France”, but that’s not the point. You’re making assumptions either way.
Styles clash, just like there’s a Rock/Paper/Scissors thing going on IN the game, the same thing is happening outside. One guy will own me up, another will kick HIS butt, but then I could easily beat this second guy. It all doesn’t mean anything. All you can try and do is play a style that counters your current opponent, and Daigo FAILED to do that this time around.
I’d really like to hear what Daigo has to say about his loss. I hope he does not complain about the controls, even IF they were crap.
just reinforcing what someone said… one game is one game. it’s a joke to think you’re better than someone because of one game. beating daigo one game doesn’t mean shit. play best of 10 and the score would probably be 9-1. unfortunately for daigo, he lost the one that counted. it’s stupid to think that daigo or any other player always play their best.
on the other hand, judging from that vid vs daigo, evil IS NOT a scrub (i haven’t seen his match vs the other french guy yet). in fact, i’ve watched many USA matches (esp FamilyFun matches) and can see a lot of problems with their gameplay as well. evil deserves credit for his placing and it’s unfair to attribute his performance to merely luck (tho luck probably played some part). and tho daigo was nowhere near his usual self execution wise, he also made some poor decisions (could be from joystick frustration?) that got punished. evil deserved to win that match, but not the recognition of being better than daigo.
as for roll super, it’s a tactic. u can see in the vid (guile vs blanka) that when evil rolled the first time, daigo didn’t react fast enough and opted for a sonic boom instead. with the knowledge that the opponent’s execution isn’t all that great, roll super becomes a viable tactic. not to forget tho, like any other tactic, u abuse it and it won’t work.
Ok i’m going to answer for evil yama and the french player.
first of all Evil Wins one match during the tournament.
Stop, that it , no more or less.
he makes random roll plays like a big scrub that can’t wins against any american player and win.
So just one question, Why during all the evo the american srub haven’t win? you have plenty of scrub no?
daigo haven’t make is better match. Yes , and?
Nobody have said Evil is better than daigo…
plus, do you play against evil to think that He makes the better match of all is life?
kcxj, your reaction is pathetic, We are loocking for coming to the next evo, I really hope we will have the opportunity to play against good american player, and loose as scrub…
Evil and all of us are not stupid, if it was the better of 10, daigo would have win. but this is a tournament, better of one game.
You have to be here and make it during this game, not the next one.
and one more thing, don’t think you are better than another player by wathching a video, believe me, video doesn’t show nothing.
To say some more, yeah nobody said “evil>daigo”.
The match evil vs yamazaki that is on the web site is one of the 132051032153041 matches they played together. We put it on the site because it was so funny: evil misses the strike for 1/2 a second and finally looses the match
You can’t say by watching the video that yamazaki is much better than evil, just that yamazaki is a warrior the match is only finished with the final KO.
Bout the roll super…
Rolling all three seconds and doing random supers is a noob tactic, totally agree.
But roll super isn’t a noob technic, would you qualify mago a noob as he uses and abuses this technic with honda (you should watch the acho matches some times)?
Lets analyse the match:
first round, daigo’s ken does a stand hk, evil’s ryu rolls in it and does a combo: noob technic? no. good use of the roll and pretty nice reflex? yes.
Sagat vs sagat. Evil’s sagat rolls, daigo does a crouch HP but evil guards. Evil (like me) knows that sagat have to do a stand lp to counter sagat’s roll (if done at the good distance) but daigo does crouch hp. The round continues and one moment, evil is at the good distance, the condition are the same, he rolls he knows daigo is going to do a crouch hp: level 2 in daigo’s crouch hp.
For the roll super against guile it was well explained before.
About comparing french level and american level, stupid. We never played against you, so we can’t compare. That’s all.
And for the last time we are not stupid, we know that japanese players are better than us, so stop arguing bout bull shits
