I remember reading on here a post from years ago that Gummo used to make these, but I’m not sure that’s still in the cards anymore. You can PM him to see if that’s possible.
Hey, I tried fishing around on the PAS thread, but with no luck. Would anyone happen to have the most recent drivers and gui program for PAS’s LVT3 board for the TE2? Their arcadeupgrades.com site has gone down.
I’m looking for some Omron D2RV-L11G short hinge switches for the smaller Seimitsu sticks. I can’t find any distributors that stock these…anyone know at all If I can get my hands on these? Are mouser able to do small custom orders with Omron if they don’t have a switch in stock?
Hi there!
I’ve been using a HRAP 5 Silent (PS4-047) for a while and despite being somewhat used to the square restrictor plate I enjoy using the circular ones in the arcades more.
I figured I’d give both octagonal and circular plates a try because they’re cheap, but when I opened up my stick I found that HORI used a clip seating for the plate.
They then immediately dropped support for that type, apparently.
I came across this link for as a solution, but it seems a bit overkill.
I would really like to try the other plates, but I wouldn’t want to destroy the one I have.
Umm Arcades don’t typically use anything but square gates. Now American/ european style parts feel like they use circular gates, but they don’t have gates at all.
Circular gates for the JLF is not apart of the Sanwa catalog, and it’s a aftermarket part.
I doubt Hori makes their own circular gates as well
Oh, I didn’t know that. The cabinets I’ve used in the past for Skullgirls and SFIV both felt like they had circular plates, and while I don’t absolutely need the gate, it felt so much more smooth doing circular motions. Accidental jumps were also almost non-existent on those cabinets.
I guess I’m out of luck for this, then? Sanwa gates seem to fit other clips, but I may need to replace the holder on mine.
for Older games the Street Fighter II till MvC 2 range of games, everything in the US/ Europe been Happ/IL US/Euro style parts. Which Fells completely different from Japanese parts. Which feels round even though there isnt a round gate
The Japanese cabs of that era with a few rare exceptions are all square or octagonal gates.
With Square being the most common 95% of the time.
Alternative gates are an extra cost, and most Arcade operators are cheap, so they would not bling out a Cab’s joystick with a different gate, and they differently would not spend to money for parts for people could play any “better”.
Any machine with Skull Girls has to be custom, as they never had a official cab/ Cab conversion kit made.
So running into a Skull Girl Cab isn’t a good measure of the Norm.
The official Street Fighter 4 Cab, it comes with a Square Gate. If you ran into a SF4 cab with a round gate, that most likely a custom made cab.
Fair enough. The SG cabinet in question was in Hirose Entertainment Yard in Akiba, and I’m not in the area anymore to ask about it.
In any case, that doesn’t answer my question.
I guess I’ll just resign myself to the square gate for now. It’s not that big a deal in the end, I just wanted to enjoy using my stick more.
A lot of us who grew up on Western arcade machines went through a similar experience. I too had issues with the square gates when I got back into things and onto Japanese sticks. After reading slagcoin.com I dumped the octogate and went back to square. It was difficult for a while but I adapted.
Haha, that’s the opposite of what I wanted to hear. I figured I’d play at first using an octo but what I really wanted to do is get used to all three so I could play on any machine. (The sanwa would have been useful with its gate ring insert)
I can accomplish that anyway by slowly reducing my contact with the gate and making smaller motions.
I just bought a mad catz stick, it’s used, but the guy had it a long time without using it. It’s very dirty, has a lot of dust.
How can I clean it up and with what? To make it look shinier and stuff like that, im gonna fully customize it and want to make it look as good as possible
