Hi everyone, I am considering purchasing a Round 2 TE for PS3 from someone in the near future, and I have heard of the issues they have with PC compatibility. From the searches I have made here on srk and on the web it seems as if it is compatible if I have an Intel USB controller, and unfortunately I do not know how to check that. I just want to know whether or not I will actually be able to use it with my computer before I make the purchase for this one, so I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me find out if my computer would be compatible with the MadCatz PS3 TE Round 2. I have a Dell Inspiron 17R 7720, and I would be happy to provide screenshots of my device manager or any other menu that might have answers. Unfortunately the threads I have found are mostly explaining how to get it to work with oneās PC and not how to find out if it will even work with it! Thanks!
EDIT: I am still doing research after I have made this post and I apologize that I am again asking a question that many have asked before - I will remove my comment if I am able to find an answer.
EDIT 2: So I checked dxdiag and it says I have Intel HD Graphics family for my chip type. In the device manager it says that I have a few Intel Chipset family things that I donāt really understand,
youāll have to carve away some of the case on the mayflash v1. the stock buttons were more like 28mm, you can use some medium grit sandpaper to open the whole a little extra then your buttons should slip in fine. a jlf stick will fit without the plate
Intel USB controllers are drivers for the USB ports on your PC, if youāre using Intel based CPUs and motherboards. If youāre running on Intel HD Graphics and have Intel Chipsets installed, you should be fine. That means you have an Intel CPU and Intel-based motherboard, rather than an AMD one.
AMD CPUs and motherboards are less expensive, but sometimes have more driver issues.
Thank you very much for your response. Ok, so I suppose it is safe to assume it would function with my laptop. One thing though is that when I looked under my system information by going to Run and entering āmsinfo32ā it said that my Base Board manufacturer was Dell Inc, as this is a dell laptop. Even though it is manufactured by Dell, is it an Intel based motherboard because it is running an Intel processor?
Yep! Thatās correct. Youād be running AMD graphics if your CPU was AMD. Since itās Intel, your motherboard will be using Intel based drivers for things. Unless Dell made their own USB controller, which doesnāt make sense because Intel did it for free. You can also double check by going into your Device Manager and then checking what driver your USB ports use. Or checking whatever driver / install CDs came with your PC.
Helping a guy in the US install a Crossbone and heās struggling to find a place to buy 3.5mm PCB Breakouts.
Can anyone in the US point me in the direction of a good store/website for them? He says RadioShack doesnāt do themā¦and thatās the only American electronics store I know haha.
Just scored an Atrox for XB1 and spent most of the day researching how to wire up a PS360+ into it for 360/PS3 support as well. Is my best bet going to be an Imp V2 in basic mode for this project? Kinda took for granted how streamlined the Crossbone made things for KI TE2s.
As a related aside (for educational purposes), When using an Imp do you need your buttons connected to both PCBs?
Golden rule of dual modding. Everything must be connected.
So yes your inputs for all your buttons and directions need to be wired up. They donāt need to be grounded beecuase that can be shared through the ground on the USB wire. However sometimes I still wire a ground when using a different terminal strip on TEs
Heās going into configuration mode when he tries doing all 3 punches. Iād have him grab the NoMacro firmwares that akishop has been putting out now with new releases to avoid that issue.
Yes, entirely possible. I believe the MCCthulu has this already for itās Wii support.
Hey man so I ended up purchasing that Round 2 PS3 TE and alas⦠not compatible with my computer. I seem to have everything requiring compatibility and even went on the dell website to update my Intel Chipset Driver⦠so I am confounded as to why it doesnāt seem to cooperate with my pc. It registers it just not any button presses, the same issues others have had in threads Iāve read on the subject. Anywho, is the Cthulu pcp the cheapest/best replacement that has ps3/pc compatibility? I wish I had a desktop so I could just get one of those cards, but I guess Iāll just have to make do.
EDIT: I checked my chipset type with CPU-Z also and apparently it is totally intel T.T
No, the PS3 Cthulhu is very outdated (and expensive) tech now. Thereās nothing wrong with it, but youāll find the Zero Delay encoder much more to your liking. Make sure you get the PS2/PS3 version so you get a Home button, and also the Japanese wiring.
