Absolute Question and Answer Thread (ASK YOUR QUESTIONS HERE!)

A lot of people use it to make Twin Stick.

Is there any tricks to soldering on a sixaxis pad? I’ve seen pictures where wires are simply plugged into that small terminal strip… and seen diagrams with every button pointed out

Considering that my soldering capabilities kinda suck, I’d like to just put all the wires in that terminal strip, that’s possible?

Also, not having done this in years…

Soldering directly to a SIXAXIS is super hard.
Laugh.

You can stick wires into that if you want.

Why not get an AXISdapter?
You’ve no money for it?

Maybe you don’t know about it?

Ideal crimps are double crimps.
First crimping the red part for the wire.
Then crimping the green part for strain relief.

I good Crimping Tool will do both a the same time.
If you have a cheap manual tool, then you have to do twice.

i play ps2, and i only play sf2 & sf3, i have recently purchased a madcatz te rd1 stick, is there anyway to convert it to ps2 only?

Only way would to replace the Mad Catz PCB with a PlayStation Controller PCB.
Or replace with a Multi-Console Cthulhu to have both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation.

Great, I remember seeing that but I forgot about it, It’s not for me, my stick-building-newb friend wants to build a stick but has no idea about anything, from woodworking to electronics…and he is anal about ripping a DS3 when I suggested a PS1 for the sake of ease and money saving. And I highly doubt he’ll get that axis adaptor. i’ll just stick with jamming wires in that terminal strip, thanks, JDM.

I personally have not seen a DS3 pcb in person, is there a trick to getting the wires to hold or is it jus soldering?

The wires to hold after jamming in?
I can just think of hot glue is all.

For the TE Fightsticks from madcatz exactly what button (model numberrs) and Stick (model numbers) are used for it. I want to get those parts for my Fightstick standard PS3 version

If it cost too much though then i’ll buy the PS3 TE stick instead, thanks.

It would be nice to custom make my stick so Id on’t have to carry two sticks around. Some tournies have PS3 some have Xbox, I just want the latter.

joystick: sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK
buttons: sanwa OBSF-30

If your goal is to have a stick for each console, you can dual mod a xbox 360 stick with a Toodles Chimp Board to get ps3 support.

Like exact exact?

Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK-W.
Sanwa OBSF-30-W.
Sanwa OBSF-30-K/DH.
Sanwa OBSF-24-W.

Now can we have their weight each in metric to 6 significant figures? O_o;

Also, Stick ($23), balltop (if you choose, the stock SE fits; $3), and 8 OSBF-30s ($24) run $50, if your SE costs more than $50, get the TE Round 2 on sale for $100. http://shoryuken.com/f177/8-2-8-10-mad-catz-tougeki-promo-20-30%-fightsticks-%24100-f-s-round-2-te-246191/

Unless if you want custom colors on your SE. But you could dual mod it for cheaper. DIY would be cheaper ($30 for a ChImp plus about $20?$40 in equipment), but if you’re not confident in soldering skills, there are plenty of great modders who can do it super-duper cleanly. These guys are cheaper than buying another TE: http://shoryuken.com/f226/james-james-so-cal-modding-246549/

I would luv to DIY but I don’t want to mess it up, i’d rather pay someone to duel mod it and just have that instead. I don’t know anyone around here that does that as a side job. But thanks guys these options will help me out.

Check trading outlet. I just noticed you’re from Chicago. The people I linked are west coast, but I love their work. But there are plenty of modders there.

Awsome. Thanks for the heads up.

@Shonuff

PMed a potential deal on a TE ‘S’. There’s only one left, hope you’re able to get it if you’re still looking for one.

I cracked open that sixaxis controller and there are these two doo-hicky things I have no idea what they are or what to do with them…
I’ve illustrated that thin circuit sheet that the sixaxis uses, that gets slipped into a terminal strip. I pulled it out and will plug wires into the buttons accordingly…

Since there isn’t a common ground, with 3 or 4 different grounds, may I get an approval for correct connections from this illustration please?

Thanks.

I made custom art for my TE and got excited and started poppin’ out buttons to get that shit on there. In my excitement I forgot to write down which color wire was what button. I have a Round 2 for 360.

EDIT; Disregard me, I’m a big bonehead. I didn’t notice the button is labeled beside each wire.

Guys, I could use a quick answer, how the EFF do I get my SE PS3 stick to work on a Windows PC?

There has to be a way, since can get it to work on a mac

It depends on your Motherboard.

Hey jdm, can i get a thumbs up to that diagram i drew a few posts above please?

I heard something about attaching resistors and all, and wanted to confirm the ground connections were correct.

THANKS!
