Absolute Question and Answer Thread (ASK YOUR QUESTIONS HERE!)

Thanks for the reply, So about the only way is to have a second power cord? That’s not too bad, but I would like to have it usb powered. Could I do that if I went 5v LED’s?

That’s an Xbox 360 Breakaway cable. They’re fairly common and easy to find online, and are not expensive at all. Only problem is you probably won’t find a black one to match the TE USB cable, but that’s nothing a little black vinyl dye can’t fix.

Standard Balltop is actually 35mm.
30mm is the small one.

Only 45mm Balltop from Sanwa need the Thread Adapter.
45mm from Seimitsu do not need the Thread Adapter.

HAHA yes what JDM714 said… I keep thinking buttons my bad…

I have shit tons of those. If I ever saw you at a tournament I would just give you one.

I give them to people at school.
Because there are Gamer Students exist.

I am totally new to this and I think I made a mistake and have a few questions. I bought a madcatz wwe brawlstick to play UMVC3 and want to change the art joystick and buttons. My first question is will the HAPP joystick’s fit in the brawlstick? and if so is there soldering involved? How hard is the molding process? O purchased Seimitsu buttons and a seimitsu Ls 58 this morning and have since been wondering if I should have gotten a Happ or sawn. I didn’t get sanwa because I rest my fingers on the buttons. Also didn’t like the feel of the fake thats on the brawlstick. Thanks for the help guys!

Honestly, Happ sticks are really tricky to fit. It’s beyond standard modding, but Seimitsu buttons and joysticks will drop right in as a replacement, all you have to do is unsnap the old buttons, and snap or screw in the new buttons, removing the Quick disconnects from the old buttons, and placing them on the new ones, as well.

The joystick, you just have to unscrew the old one, unplug the 5-pin harness from the old one, remove the balltop using a small screwdriver in the bottom of the shaft, place the new joystick in place, screw it back in, screw the balltop on, flip the connector upside-down from what it previously was.

Sanwa would have been equally easy to do, but it would have felt a little differently. It’s all a matter of preference, Sanwa or Seimitsu, they’re both good.

so i just tried to use my arcade stick and i cant move around in the xbox menu but when i go in game it works just fine…can someone help me?

I just picked up a new one and it keeps disconnecting itself or won’t register that it’s plugged in. This is an xbox version. My old one works fine, so it’s not my xbox. Did I get a lemon?

Edit: As a last resort I tried separating and reconnecting the quick release part and it seems to be working now. It appears that the quick connector is faulty after testing a few times. I can wiggle it and it disconnects. Tried using the connector from my other te on it and it doesn’t fail.

change it so it works with the d pad

Not really a noob, but not dumb enough to start a new thread, anyone know a place to buy HAPP/IL joystick replacement parts? I took apart my IL Eurostick and my wife threw away the parts on me.

Hello, I’ve got the same problem.
Mind to explain further how I can fix it? Which part should I disconnect and which part should I change?

Edit: Hmm still cant fix it, but the disconnect occurs everytime when my joystick is in direction 789.

It was at the piece that you can pull apart on the cord and that connects to the xbox. Apparently it looks like it’s a snug fit, but if you even wiggle it, it will disconnect the controller. I’m assuming it could also do other weird things like in your case. It was easy to test since I had an extra TE stick and could swap out the connector.Try just barely wiggling the connector and see if you notice any weird things happen. Could also be the circuit board on your stick has gone bad. I’m gonna see if Madcatz can replace it.

I’m trying to wire up my first fight stick using the (early) wired xbox360 controller, but i’m having difficulty understanding where my grounds should go.

With that diagram, could I use the grey circle for a ground to all my buttons and joystick including the trigger buttons?

No you cannot use.
For each of those Signals, you have to use their respective Common.

So whatever each colored Signal is, you have to match with the colored Common.

Red Common will go with Signals labeled red.
Pink Common will go with Signals labeled pink.
Green Common will go with Signals labeled green.
Orange Common will go with Signals labeled orange.

And just go like that for others.

If you do not understand, then just solder two wires for each Input of your Arcade Stick.
Directly across each Signal is a contact for its respective Common.
When you are done, you should have thirty wires.
Thirty wires if yo wire everything up.

ah thanks, i get it.
If im using a sanwa jlf which has only one ground coming out of it how do i connect it with the 4 pad buttons? three of them have different commons

Need a little help here. I’m attempting a dual mod with a Madcatz 360 TE and a Chimp SMD. I’ve been trying to wire the joystick to the Chimp and the 360 pcb for the last hour or so via the solderless method. Everytime I test it on my PC, the point of view hat defaults to the down/left direction while in neutral position. The right direction doesn’t seem to register. When I push up on the stick, it registers up/left. I’ve tried adjusting the wires numerous times from the harness thinking that the right direction isn’t making a proper connection, but everytime I adjust it the same result happens. Help?

You will have to cut the Traces of the JLF PCB.
Then solder directly to the Microswitches.

Or desolder the Microswitches from JLF PCB.
Throw away the PCB, and solder directly to the Microswitches.

Having trouble desoldering the USB wires from the 360 TE PCB. Can I just clip the wires off the PCB or will that give me trouble later on?
