Cool no CVS2 tourney this week, that’s what I thought except Paul listed the projected total of the tournaments and included cvs2 and since he said Apoc was coming down and the brothers I thought we might have one.
Damn that sucks that Angel could miss the tourney, if I had any way of contacting him I would, well I do vaguely remember where he lives I know the street, just not sure which house exactly.
Paul what’s wrong with the stick, mine was getting screwy on me the other day for my playstation, it would randomly quit working, I opened it up and found a stray wire that I removed and it has worked fine since. You should bring it to Atlantis and I’ll bring my solder iron and we can fix it at the snack bar, remember that?

I thought the GGx2 tourney was fun, made me realize some major flaws in my Potemkin and the need to learn other characters as well. So I’ve started using Sol and learning some dust loops, for example this is the dust loop I would use on someone in the corner after a command grab, run to the other side of them c.HS(normal jump cancel) dust, dust,land and run towards them c.HS(Hyper jump cancel) dust, dust, land, normal jump, dust (jump cancel) slash, dust, uppercut. I’ll have to see if this will work on all characters because I have read of character specific dust loops with Sol. Also what are some other dust loop starters? I know air dash, slash, Dust. And I know FRC Gun flame I believe, and towards plus punch into launcher into dust loop. I guess the same could be done with a RC uppercut(ground and air dash?) and RC ground flame scrape (sorry don’t know the proper name) and is the revolver kick worth anything for dust loops? Are there better loops than the one I mentioned above I imagine there are I just don’t know them so maybe one of you guys could help me, especially JP since you’re into Sol and you know a lot of good combos with everyone it seems, I’m just looking for some starting tips to get me on my way, thanks.
Also I am still ready to go to Sunnyvale this saturday, I have the day off planned already so it won’t be a problem at work.
Also good luck to Rob at midwest coming up on June 27-29th, as I was reading through the tourney’s being held there I noticed Hyper Fighting and puzzlefighter, do you plan on entering those at all Rob?
Hey everyone whats up. This is the major scrub, Cameron who got torn to pieces at the tourny. sniffle I suck but i am getting better. Bah at pot…the character needs to be shot :mad: . Axl cant fight close range and he is easy to read from a far. But i believe i have come up with a solution. I will be at the next tourny too although i am sure i will get destroyed just as fast. But if any of you want to play some soul calibur it might be a different story. I went on a 7 game winning streak with charade…until Nick taught me about how nast Cassandra is with her freaking delays. Anywayz, i look forword to being owned at the next tourny. :mad:

Cameron- Dood dont worry man… practice up… everyone started somewhere… god knows how many times i got torn up before i became a good player… keep practicing… come up w/ new idead… learn from your mistakes and dont make’m again… and most of all have fun…

Hopefully Atlantis will have flyers up next time for each tourney so that players will know ahead of time so we might have a better showing…

NEXT WEEK- SC2 ONLY… since most Reno CvS2 players will be at SVGL in preperation for Evo… so CvS2 will not be played
I will be out of town the following week because of MidWest… if Reno Crew wants to hold another GGXX and MvC2 tourney… go for it… hopefully Yushiro can come up here and participate in this one…
Well I was using Sol and getting the dust loops down fairly quickly, but then I thought to myself this isn’t a character that I enjoy to play, I play games to compete and win but I mainly play games to have fun, so if I’m not having fun it’s just work and I do enough of that already, so Potemkin is coming out of Retirement, I know some people don’t enjoy playing against him but what can I do, he’s fun to me. When I got beat by JC and Nick I felt like using someone else on impulse because I lost but I now have motivation to play my Potemkin even better and if that keeps me intersted in this game then why not use him? Anyways, guys let me know the details on Sunnyvale as I’m curious to see how they play and how we’ll do there.

Just wanted to say Hi. This is Erik. Paul just gave me some lessons in GGX2 and I have to say I suck. But with some practice I hope to be good. I think I need to buy a good arcade style stick so I can practice at home. Anybody have a link? Well I might compete next week so I can firmly establish the bottom of the barrel so CU then.
It’s all about the dust loop setups when playing Sol in tournaments. Once you have the setups down it’s hard for anyone to stop Sol from tearing it up. Same for most characters in GGXX.
From what I know we’re taking your car right Paul? And we have 5 people including you, that means 3 people in the back seat. That isn’t a big problem to me as long as you have a seat belt. I’ll also bring a video camera, it’s an older Sony model but it will still do the job, it doesn’t have a view screeen or anything and it’s kind of heavy.
As far as Potemkin I will use him at Sunnyvale because I feel he is my most proficient character but I will also consider using other characters as well after that, I’m really curious to see how they play I haven’t seen any match vids or anything from their tourney’s and it’s a big tourney that weekend so maybe some other out of town people will show besides us and that will be a really nice turnout and interesting to see who takes first and with what character and so on.
Also we should meet up at Rob’s house sometime this week (maybe tonight?) to play some matches, I need to get some practice in for Sunnyvale, later guys.
I’m going, but it sucks for me, since SC2 is on Sunday. =/ I’ll just watch and hang out with everyone at Sviggle. That… and I am dead broke. XD I need to gather up $15 big ones.

I agree with this guy. We shouldn’t have tourneys that are only ever listed in this thread. Like the SC2 tourney that will apparently happen this saturday at some time, but is not really posted in here or in the tourney section of sc.com.
And we really need to get VF4 Evo. Seriously. All the arguments you could make against it, you could have made against GGXX, but people have adopted that.

Hmm…That being said by Yush…Does that work if you play againts an Eddie?? I mean seriously, you can have a number of set-ups on the dust loop (i have tons), but if a great Eddie, who knows how to range, can defend well, and has that annoying corner trap, Sol can’t do very much. I mean seriously, if what you say (yush) is really efficient, how come Sol isn’t beating Eddie in Japan? Nor for that matter how come he isn’t no.1 in the Char list if he is and if that’s how easy a GGXX tourney should be and stuff, how come I haven’t seen a Sol player win a tourney in Japan recently?
Dude, don’t get me wrong, that’s how I felt before, but you can have that much set-ups for dust loop, but the problem is, can you land it? It’s all about controlling momentum. That’s how it is in this game. I mean, if a Faust can keep you away, can you do a dust loop on him? What about a rush-down Milia? Or like I said above, a very defensive Eddie? An annoying Slayer? A great Potemkin? A consistent Anji? A fast Chipp? A japanese like Johnny(I can’t think of a word for him)? Dude tons of stuff that’s out there. So there’s no guarantee in this game. Like every other game. If you tell me, well ID’s winning and stuff. How many Eddie players are out there that will compete againts him?? Ise, ruin-, and that’s all I know that placed in their respective tourney’s. Base on what I have seen so far. In the US, tons of peep’s play Sol, Slayer(who is now the no.1 character in japan cause he beats Zappa 8-2), Baiken, and Pot (I think). While in Japan, everyone thinks Eddie’s no.1. There has to be a reason why. So if you say it’s all about dust loops in a GGXX tourney. Then prove it, that’s all bro. Go to your local tourney and show us that your Sol will win just by doing dust loops.
