I’m hoping whiff c.lk to ultra 2 is solid anti air, if it is, U2 will be my shit. Also looks fast enough to punish fireballs no prob.
Another new abel vid (for me anyhow) - http://www.youtube.com/user/skatanmilla#p/u/4/FF5wpow4rJE
Pre-release matchvids from SSFIV at Dragon’s Lair, Stockholm, SWE
5:12 nice use of the delay on ultra 2
Dev Blog is up. I will translate with my limited Japanese on Abel:
Falling Sky is easier to throw now.
Buffed his sweep. They said the move will now hit where it missed by a tiny bit in vanilla Street Fighter 4.
Faster Far Standing Light Punch. They also mention that Abel is a character whose normals are strengthened overall.
He can CANCEL his Ultra 2. They specifically said he can just not perform the move when the player knows it’ll not hit the opponent.
right on. better normals = more fun character, across the board, specially in abel’s case. and thats what he needs. more control of a match. sweep having a bigger hitbox might be what I meant by “faster” since I actually saw it hit people. nice.
Better sweep, better normals, U2 can be canceled Nice.
Would be interesting to see whats changed with Falling sky…
There I was thinking about if I should get a new main but those buffs sound very positive.
This is great news. Cant wait to test out falling sky.
Just interested in them mentioning far st.lp. It could already combo into stepkick in certain occasions, but it was extremely tight, if not on counter hit, so maybe this will make it even more viable? Depends if they changed it to 4 frames or 3.
And the sweep buff! Alright so it isnt faster, but it actually will reach people that it didnt in SF4, great news.
You can combo from s.lp to f.mk on certain characters - but the timing is quite strict.
Yeah, like I said, it can be extremely tight. So now i’m just interested to see how much easier it is. Again though, they would have to make it 3 frames to make any great difference, 4 frames is still okay.
Lol, does this also mean the infinite becomes a whole lot easier? Poor Chun
Hmmm…where have I heard this Falling Sky thing?
Just clowning…not really. Ha! Can’t wait to try it out. I hope it’s badass! Keep Geif out with the sweep and then dare him to jump…ooOOOOOoooo, I can only hope.
look at 3:47. abel does backdash then mk/rh? roll to avoid dudley’s ex machine gun blow. normally i would think abel wouldn’t recover in time from the backdash or he would get hit out of the starting frames of the roll. devs didn’t say the buffed either, but what do you guys think?
it sounds like abel got more buffs than he needed…
With a quicker standing light punch… I’m thinking the potential for landing a reset is better. yum. Oh and if one can follow-up with a step kick after a s.lp… oh my… censored.
Haha, thats a good point. You can already hit really meaty off of a st.lp reset, so i wonder. And yeah, that could be some scary shit.
I’ll be able to test some stuff out on Saturday for you guys, there’s a preview event up here. I’ll try anyway.
I doubt any change to far Stand Jab is gonna result in much difference. I just don’t see what options would open up.
Im wondering why they even decided to mention it. Either there’s a significant reason, or there wasn’t anything else worth talking about.
Or the developers are clearly idiots?
If you’ve been reading these things, it’s obvious they have no idea how their game works.
Taking down damage on Rufus’ Dive Kick as a way to weaken that move? Good job, guys.
With gems like:
“[Tiger Cannon] doesn’t have the destructive power of Tiger Destruction, but its a projectile move that can be used regardless of where the opponent is on screen, and I think it will be nice for those who want to improve their footsie game.”
and
“The hitbox for Yoga Shangri-la is pretty big, and sort of similar to the headbutt Drill. So its difficult for an opponent to tell in an instant whether Yoga Shangri-la or Headbutt Drill is coming, and that adds some variation to his attack patterns.”
these guys shouldn’t be listened to at all.
Yeah Rufus’ dive didn’t even do any damage. That’s like making Seth’s c.LP do less damage.
LULZ. Headbutt drill is only the worst move in the game. That shit hasn’t been good since Alpha 3.
