If the Falling Sky was made better to handle neutral jumps and jumps away on wake up that would be fantastic! It’d be a great wake up (dare I say, “get off me” shoryuken like properties)…I think that’s what he needed. Jump ins can be delegated to c.mk or standing fierce.
http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/5844876 1:08:15; Starts a few games with Abel…sweep in the second game doesn’t seem faster. Abel’s Falling Sky makes an appearance…but only as we know it now…a combo-ender. I can’t wait to get into the training room to see what Seth is talking about…hopefully, he’ll discuss it further in an interview as we get closer to release.
Is it confirmed whether Abel’s cod is safe on block? I heard it was -3 or something. Can you we at least break throw punishes or block med/hard moves/ultras?
I think a welcome change would be step kick -> “insert light normal” combo. Besides random CH stuff and s.Hp, there are a bunch of holes in his step kick pressure.
Abel’s U2 should take the first hit of Lariat and speed by + grab him before he can get hit again. If you knock Zangief down with a sweep, it looks like a distanced U2 could work. As long as he’s not close enough to grab you, he can’t jump anywhere (you can hold the input and catch him when he lands). People will probably learn to jump on reaction to avoid the ultra after a few weeks though.
I wonder what we’re going to do when people just start counter ultra’ing’ after we do U2.
oh man getting thrown out of U2 - now that would suck
Has there been some extra info on U2 I’ve missed? it still looks pretty badass to me. I expect it to blow straight through Gief’s Lariat and Banishing Flat. Initially as soon as U2 comes out, people are going shit bricks - neutral jump, jump back etc, the delay should make sure you get em.
I cant wait to see what people do with it actually, I think there is going to be some crazy set ups going on. Over time I don’t think its going to hold up as well as U1.
There is no way it will match U1’s utility. The problem with U2 is that it works exactly like a focus. It’s likely that after they see you ultra2 off a knockdown or from a distance, they’ll ultra on reaction. If you’re too close a grab or ex DP move or ultra will cut through it.
It looks like a good move, but with the HUGE damage buff they gave to U1’s final throw hit…I’m not changing my ultra choice.
i was talking about the uses of giefs ultra 2.it is amasing so now.we cant jump roll or back dash now we just gotta block and hope he larriats so we can sweep him
I’m not sure if it’s still in, but U2 can be canceled. You make it sound like U2 is a crappy counter Ultra like Cammy’s or Fei’s.
It will depend on the startup frames to see how useful it really is. 1+0 like Gief’s would be gdlk. It’ll definitely be faster than U1 (U1 is slooow), so you can also punish things that you weren’t able to before.
We were already in a position where we couldn’t just jump out of oki. Nothing is changing here.
If anything, the presence of U2 will make it easier to deal with. I’m just gonna jump out. If Gief knocks me down once, and is willing to blow his whole bar on a complete guess that I’d try to jump out of the FIRST knockdown, without him trying to sneak in a couple of throws, hey… more power to him. That’s a risky as guess on his part.
Or I could just do wake-up TT. That will avoid the ultra, and beat out any grab attempts. No Gief will do empty jump Lariat anymore when they have Ultra, since if they’re looking to stop jump-outs, they’ll just use Ultra. Of course they could do empty jump Low Short combos to reset the situation… but again… if they guess that… good shit.
I don’t know… I don’t see Gief’s new Ultra being a big deal at all.
Also am I missing something. I though Gief’s new ultra only grabbed you if you were off the ground. How would that beat roll, or have we seen it somewhere and I missed it.
