HP CoD is slower by 1 frame. So yeah it only combos off of heavies. The FADC thing is all in your head though.

How come from falling sky rolls become ambiguous, is there a specific way of doing this type of rolls ? any type of special input after or before the roll ?
It’s because of the positioning after the kd.
Oh so its because of that particular spacing FS gives you… Anything else outside that range its just the mix up of your preference and not considered ambiguous… ?
Ok, I don’t know what the hel hapened but the other day I activated ultra in anticipation of a fireball, no fireball, Sagat activated ultra and my ultra hit him out of the starting frames of his ultra like before he does the knee, was bloody hilarious
I play Abel a bit but am looking to move on to Makoto, plus I’m not like amazing of anything plus I can’t botherd to check the thread cause it’s super long BUT.
The whole cr,HP in to roll into mix up off of normals is really cool, but has anyone else try’d doing HK roll into cr,lk (Which I think is the only thing that works) it’s super weird in that it’s really hard to tell what side your going to end up of, even though since it’s the same every time cause it’s lk only, but first time you do it it’s very very weird.

It’s done, but it’s probably the easiest to read.
If you kinda want to mix it up you can do cr.fp (but it might be to late, I never do it) or cr.mp which gives the illusion of cr.lp/mp which will either cross up (for lp) or be on the same side (for mp)
When you cancel Ultra 2, how much recovery does Abel have, if any?
I have a question about Abels Ultra 2. When the opponent lands on the ground from the air he has a few frames whereby he can’t do anything which is why Abels U2 hits. But does this apply to all types of falling. From what I understand there are 2 types of falling. The first is where the oppnent can be juggled and when he lands he’ll land on his back. This state can be hit with U1. The second state is where the opponent has invincibility frames until he lands e.g. when you don’t connect properly with cr.HP on a mid air opponent.
I.e if you hit the opponent in the air with say a lk/lp would they still have recovery frames when they land? And are you able to U2 after blocking or hitting Blanka balls?
Breathless is an 8-frame startup move so just from sheer theorycrafting and what I’ve read here (I haven’t had a chance to test it as yet), it can punish all non-EX Honda Headbutts on block, even LP which is safe to a lot of punishes. Just going by frames alone, you should be able to punish all Blanka balls on block but the timing of it may vary since you may need to wait until he lands. I’m sure I’ve read here that all Blanka Balls are free ultra.
I’m pretty sure hp cod give a higher hit stun and therefore more frames to FADC> cr.HP
unfortunately, this is incorrect.
We know about the 8 frames for ultra 2, but what I was wondering is if it’s 8 frames regardless of distance? If the person is right next to me, do I just push against him for 5 or 6 frames or will it just connect as soon as it hits a target? There might not be an answer to this yet, but it would help figure out what can be punished by u2.
well its 8 frames “startup”, the duration from the flash till the end of the dash = 8 frames…only after 8 frames the move will connect. as soon as it hits the target = already 8 frames.
oh as for punishing, you based that on the recovery of the move. if your opponent whiffs something with more than 8 frames recovery = punish… of course there are other cases of punishing moves with less recovery but thats either random U2/gtfo me U2 etc…

I’m a former ryu player and I’m pretty new 2 using abel but so far its been a really fun change. I’ve been playing a very aggressive ken player who loves to cross me up after kd’s. He also tends to sweep me a lot on wakeup. I guess I just realized I can punish that with ex cod.( Is that correct? Can I punish it on block?) Basically I’m having problems stopping cross ups and punishing lp dps as he will mash out another and catch my punish attempt. I know he uses pretty scrubby tactics (that I would pwn with ryu) but I’m having trouble beating them with abel. Anybody have any suggestions. Also, is there a thread that gives reccomended ultra selection for each matchup? Thatd be cool, I usually use souless but there are some matchups (like juri and cammy) where I’m thinking breathless might be the better choice. Thanks
Unless you’ve got an ex meter to do an ax roll your only option is to predict your opponents attack and block. But even ex roll can be throw out of so if he’s aware of that he’ll throw you. Abel’s wake-up options aren’t great.
Really? His only options are block or roll and risk getting thrown? I dunno but if that’s the case that’s pretty shitty. On another note now that his slp is 2 hits, does the roll-slp-roll reset still work the same or the roll slp dash under?
