You can only poke him out of it after the startup invincibility. Don’t try this if you’re close to him.
I went ahead and tried it in training mode a little bit. Jab TT is the most reliable answer as he falls right into it. However, the closer the range he is to you when he does it the harder it is land, so it’s better to just twds + mk into c.fp xx fp CoD xx FDAC cancel xx whatever.
I’d rather just do backjump mk -> cr.mp -> mp CoD. It’s a lot easier to land and you don’t get demon’d if you mess up. But hey, if f-mk is consistent for you, more power to you.
yes, should have clarified.
You’re right Kikui, that is much easier to land, but if the twds + mk connects on CH then that link is easier.
I was going more for maximum punishment, but I’m not constintent enough with that link myself honestly so I usually end up doing your string.
Just messing around and the new double frame link technique or whatever rocks, and makes it easy to do fwd fwd into hp and c.lk into hp quite easy.
Also just found that after c.hp you can hit twd + fwd reset and dash in, although I can’t see any use for this. Any of you guys mess around with this before?
if they are in the corner this is a good mix up since after the cr.fp you do f+mk dash and you cross them up. it can be an okay mix up but i dont think its that great. plus it only works on bulky characters if they are not in the corner and they have good options after that, meaning sagat uppercut if you try to do anything, zangief spd stuff like that. of course if you see it coming you can avoid that stuff but its still to risky to do against those characters imho.
Someone posted earlier in a thread that if Sagat does a reversal uppercut off of this reset and you tried crossing him up, he whiffs. They even had a video. This is actually true of all characters, but your crossup whiffs on most of the smaller characters, so they could just wait for you to jump over them like a moron. So against Sagat it’s rather safe unless he has the perfect timing to uppercut your crossup not on reversal.
no im talking about cr.fp to f+mk no roll involved in this combo. i know about that combo and it is good but compared to the one he is talking about its not. he didnt post roll in his combo so thats what my post was based on. you gotta read the post fully.
Alright, I couldn’t remember which reset was the one that was safe versus reversal uppercuts on Sagat. Sorry.
i donno if any has noticed or posted this yet but if you do the c.fp>roll c.lp{reset} roll>TT, the second roll is now a cross up, where it used to place you in front of them.
the 2nd roll have to be mk/hk to cross em up, no? lk roll wont cross up. (correct me if im wrong, i dont do this reset combo that often)
Has anyone been using whiff st.mk into jab TT? Works on tall characters like Balrog but the spacing is a little strict, and is easier on shorter characters.
st.mk into jab tt??? or dya mean f.mk dash tt?
st.mk moves you forward a fair bit, similar to Gief’s standing roundhouse or whatever. Whiff st.mk from a fair bit away will bring you in close enough to catch them with jab or EX TT.
I’ve actually been wondering if s.mk has a use as a mindgames too. Because it looks exactly like twds-mk, but is special cancellable.
isnt that close standing mk?
regular standing mk looks like it would be good anti air, but i dont think i’ve ever hit anyone with it lol.
I use cr.fp xx lp roll, st.fp xx lp roll and it crosses up most characters – it all depends on how fast you cancel – you can adjust the timing and either cross up or not cross up using lp roll – i find this easier to do than mk or hk roll simply because the distance and recovery give me more options on my opponents recovery – if i remember correctly, there was a post somewhere about abels resets and which characters certain rolls crossed up etc.
I use close mk quite often in my game play for that exact reason – close mk xx mp cod works well and seems to throw most people off because the next time they see me f+mk they generally stand there blocking which opens up the TT game
Wait, so you can EX-TT balrog against any rush punch?
You can normal TT him out of any rush punch, so long as you do it before his active frames come out, or yes, you can EX TT him out of any, as EX TT has hit invulnerability
