Help me understand: What’s an ume shoryuken?
Aside from that, it was awesome how Shiro was waiting on that ONE hadouken to CoD through. I wonder if it would’ve been better for Daigo to attempt a finish closer up?

Daigo could have probably done a late backflip to Tatsu and maybe built the meter for EX fireball. that would have changed things
and an ume shoryu is short for “umehara” shoryu, daigo’s last family name. Basically its just a psychic or prediction shoryuken assuming the other person will do something and it will hit. He is known for throwing them out and catching people off guard and winning.
A lot of people that don’t know better think he does more than he actually does. Most daigo shoryu’s are based on the matchup and knowing the other player. Like his matches against Iyo and other dhalsims. Assuming Sim’s will try to throw out limbs and finish you off, a random shoryu could catch one of those limbs and give you the opportunity to fullscreen super or things of that nature. impressive usage either way. People are usually so intimidated by him that he surely gets away with being a little risky at times.
I’m not sure whether he intended to ex-cod that last fireball – I think he might have been buffering the ultra motion and hammed it, but noticed the ex-cod connected and fadc’d accordingly

going through fireballs with ultra is risky since you have to guess that they’re going to throw a fireball. he did an EX cod because it was less risky and guarantees that he’ll absorb the fireball and use his meter to FADC into the elbow uppercut. i’m positive he did it on purpose

Daigo was just as likely to throw out a crouching mk as he was a hadouken, EX COD covered Shiro’s ass in case he did either one
when i play abel… 80% of the stuff i do is a guess and a gamble.
just watch my videos… most of my ultras are comming out before they even throw the fireball…
infact i even jump back the same time that they do to throw the fireball. sometimes its just a feeling you can get from the other player and ya think its time you take the risk and throw it out.
I guess so, I just thought it would be a tad risky to EX absorb anything with that little amount of health, so that was my reasoning behind assuming he was buffering the ultra and hammed it

well it works on xbox live anyways I dont think it would work in Tourneys.

Note that he links crouch jab with f.mk into CoD. I had no idea this was possible. Does it only work on Abel?

he didn’t link that, the combo was 5 hitter. it would have been 6 if the jab and the F-MK combo’ed. The guy just wasn’t blocking.
If you are referring to around the 0:33 mark in the vid, you’re mistaken. It didn’t combo. 5 hit combo is only from the f.mk -> s.fp -> cod. Thanks for linking to a shiro vid tho. The more of those, the better.
Doh, you’re right. I wasn’t counting the close fierce before the CoD. I was so excited about something new…my bad.

I’ve been doing aa c.mk xx roll for a while, it’s a cool little gimmick. Not really for crossup mindgames but simply to close the distance right away.

i played a good ken, dictator and blanka today, won most of my matches and i have to credit most of the wins to my use of s.lk.
i picked up on something shiro may have noticed about daigo. He tended to dash in before he goes for pokes at the end there. He would go back and forth on the stick but then dash cr.mk, or cr.mk, cr.mk dash back out. The time he threw the fireball he dashed in and I think shiro saw the dash and chucked out the EX CoD. It might explain why he did it in that situation and not another time.
