Abel Match Videos

aye i got lazy

I was kind of scared to throw out the tt’s after the roll. If he jumped, I would have ate a combo, and those Ryu Shoryus hurt like a bitch. So that’s why I used the normal throw, since if I wiffed, I would still recover in time to block his attack0

hehe it’s true that they have a long delay but he’ll at least fall for 1 or 2 and from there thats where u can start new mix ups, it didnt seem that he jumped much from the throws either. take some chances and see where it goes. it pays off, throw in some TT"s and if u see ur opponent reacts to them, then thats when u can start adapting to what he expects n whatnot. by the way sorry if i’m not being very specific zzz i’m getting lazy at typing -_-

Nah I can understand you. Thanks for the advice man.

Here is my Abel, a work in progress. I don’t own the game but I do play at friend’s houses. I play on the Mad Catz Fight pad, got into Street Fighter mostly during 3rd Strike, and played with keyboard lol (MAME!). Transition from Keyboard to D-Pad was a tough hurdle.
Let me know what you think.

Pretty solid stuff, though you weren’t exactly facing stiff competition. A big problem I saw was that you let people jump in on you a lot, especially that second ken. Abel’s AA’s aren’t amazing, but a pop-up cr. fp into a juggle will make most people think twice about their jump-ins, and that’s super important for keeping control in a match. You also jump kind of a lot; it worked out for you most of the time, but that shit will get you juggled hard once people wise up.

Other nit-picky things: i’d try not to use cr. fp after a crossup as much. It didn’t combo a lot of times in that video, and when your opponents actually start blocking, you’re opening yourself up to punishment and a complete loss of momentum. When doing cr. fp resets, i’d try to at least cross em up with a roll; your cr. lp into nothing lost you damage and got you basically nothing in return. Wheel kick on their wakeup isn’t really the best of ideas either.

Still, some solid Abel play, even if it was against pretty mediocre comp.

Yea, I do let people jump in on me a lot, I’m especially bad at defending against cross ups lol.
I also noticed I was using the cr.fp a lot after cross ups, even more so during the cammy match lol, even throwing it out randomly. Gotta work on that

good news 2 abel players qualified for SBO

SF4 E-2 Block - Kenpippi (AB) / HOT (BL) qualifies for SBO!

SF4 F-3 Block - Rabo (AB) / Tecchan (RU) qualifies for SBO!

gonna youtube there names lol

cant find rabo

results from the SBO qualifier thread

And Abel loses… again.

I enjoyed that match though. Kenpipi let his guard down under pressure a few times (falling for the SBK in the corner for example) but outside of that he played a really solid Abel. He knew the matchup well and waited for his opportunities to punish keeping at the right distances.

heres a few vids its pretty crappy but oh well, lmk what u think

Nice playing GetBuzzin. I liked that you used c.mp -> cod for punishing only instead of throwing it out randomly. I think you looked your best when you were chaining lots of shorts and jabs and using f.mk -> dash a lot and causing the stun.

Any reason for always doing wheel kick after c.fp? Falling sky is better for damage and stun I believe, and even in the corner, they can’t quick stand, so you have time to roll past them to keep them in the corner.

Also, I didn’t see you do crossover -> Tornado Throw. A good tool to throw out there.

i’m using 360 pad and can’t do shoryuken motion worth shit on the pad so the wheel kick is all i can do haha. yeah, when i play online i tend to want to combos instead of throwing. now if i played someone good, i’d probably cross over, c. jab, ex throw. but anyways thanks for the kind words

You did a lot of moves with risky openings. It didn’t seem like that ryu in the second game was blocking at all.

your cr.lk, cr.lp, cr.lp ----- cr.mp xx cod or f+mk should have all been blocked. Even worse is online you will get jerkoffs spamming reversal shoryukens and busting up all of your stuff.

I understand your problems with the 360 pad though, and that explains why there were so many wheel kick cancels. I do like the cautious nature, but it seemed like you would get tired of waiting and jump at a ryu out of nowhere when he was standing there. As you saw in the second match you will get insta DP’ed and be back where you started. You seem to have the fundamentals of quick f+mk xx dash pokes down, so it surpised me that you were resorting to jumping instead of bulldogging them down and looking for the dash in. Safer… non airborn option

The discussion of the comp most of us will play, vs the tourney players is very different, but i like to absorb a few fireballs early in the round instead of jumping over them. If you don’t do more than 2 the desire for them to rush in an be risky trying to secure that temporary damage won’t be high, and you often catch them out with an early round ultra through a misplaced fireball or punisher.

there is a video from the denjin ranbat last saturday. more will be coming i think. check out Glenn from Get Your Tournaments youtube page.
