A3 Chun Pogo Stomp Properties

This may or may not make sense, but here goes.

A-ism Chun

The other day I was playing someone and one match they selected gief. We made an air-to-air encounter and I used d+fk (pogo stomp). I did two pogo stomps + fierce punch (3hit air combo) while we were still in the air. The attacks drove me and him airborne into the corner in a free fall state, which means he couldn’t air tech/recover. I couldn’t pogo stomp anymore because I used fierce as the 3rd hit, but when I landed a split second before he hit the ground, I was able hit him twice with two standing SP’s which resulted in a accidental five hit combo. I didn’t think it was possible because I used to do 3 pogo stomps in the air and I was never allowed a 4th hit except one time against e.honda.

Sometimes I get a counter hit off the first PS, which leaves the target with more air time than normal allowing me more hits in the air or on the ground. I pogo stomp an akuma attempting an advancing air fb, the first pogo stomp is a counter hit which knocks akuma up in a jugglable state instead of driving him backwards. I bounce upwards with him and use fierce punch as the 2nd hit, that drives us back towards a corner. I land first while he is still 2 character sprites above me and using a jumping SP, for the 3rd hit, land and use a close standing fierce for a 4th hit. They actually have the option of teching the 3rd hit, but because ground normals are unblockable in the air, I’m virtually guaranteed the 4th hit unless im too far away and get hit with a counter.

I could substitute the fierce punch for a 2nd PS, but I might not land before they do and get more hits in or usually they can tech the 2nd PS and I risk taking a hit, but don’t seem to be able to tech the fierece punch.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but am I only entitled to a certain amount of hits being air borne hitting an air borne target, but when I land the counter resets and I’m eligble for more hits on the target or…?

When an airborne opponent enters the corner, you are allowed to do one more combo on them. After that, they fall through your attacks.

I’m positive this is covered in a SFA3 FAQ somewhere. I think James Chen wrote about this in a SFA3 Combo FAQ. Check out the SFA3 section on GameFAQs.com.
