Buzzsaw guy that you unlock for winning the game with the Blue Knight is a beast.

Any boss that doesn’t get knocked down he destroys in like 5 seconds. His magic attack can be spammed more than any other character for some reason and it deals an absurd amount of damage. This is making the Blue knight even more top tier because his unlockable character is so f’n good.

Haha yea that trick was great! I freaking when up from level 9 to level 22 in about 8 or 9 tries.

Yea, that buzzsaw guy is fucking broken!! :woot:

I’m 19 now, I think I was 14-15 when I killed the giant catboss guy/etc. I’m not sure how much damage it did on those guys, I just know it was double digits and spamming so fast that the numbers look like they outlined each other. I finally crossed the ocean and picked up Girrafey, so I expect to level a little faster now. Capped out magic, working on defense and agility now. Bosskilling I usually do with the splash magic, but some bosses only take 1 damage from that (Barbarian boss for example, oddly enough Barbarian boss takes a lot of damage from the single bolt spells, I went back and was doing 70-80 damage a shot).

I re-fought the water cat boss thingy and it was kind of funny, every time he would pop up to hairball I would unload a splash lightning on him for continuous 1’s, since he takes like no damage unless you have him stunned, then get him stunned and melee him.

You definitely need both melee and magic, one does not trump the other in this game. Some stuff is almost magic immune, other stuff is impossible to hit/kill with melee.

Lol… just beat the game with the Buzzsaw guy by myself at like level 30. What a joke… hardest form was the bug one because I couldn’t hit him with the saws.

And Faight, the thing about melee vs. magic is not true. Industrial Knight - that’s his real name - is pretty much a killing machine with his magic. It’s probably equivalent to what the Red guy can do, but we were playing with a Red guy and I was pretty much taking down bosses solo (in like 10-15 seconds) at like level 20. I singlehandedly raped so much on the final level and vs. the bosses we played. I just maxed out his magic and am using the Beholder orb w/ the mace that gives +6 to magic… it’s ridiculous.

Edit: Bah… the guy I unlocked throws saws too.

2nd Edit: LOL… omg I just keep fighting the painter guy over and over and I’m getting like a half bar of exp in 20 seconds

ok i am going to beat this game tonight, and then make a character who shoots the bow like an machine gun. he will be top tier, bet it.

i havent made a melee guy so i cant really comment on magic vs melee, but i think magic helps a lot even if its just utility stuff like freezing or knockdown. I know magic is pretty damn useful in the arena, lol.

in my single player game im in the industrial area (yeah yeah im slow) and i kill most stuff with 2 fireballs + bear assist. Fireball, meaty fireball, go fight something else while the bear finishes it. the big mecha zangiefs take 4 fireballs or 3 + bear assist. at 3/4ths maxed magic, each fb does 64(?) ish damage + whatever poison. i think my green dude is pretty average or low tier at boss killing though, i have to do it the old way by swinging away and throwing fbs.

Nah, Max Agility is pretty bad. Don’t do it!

Maxed out attack and working on speed on one character while trying not to level defense. Now that I found out can get at least one free potion if you don’t have one as you load the starting area I am going to see if I can beat the game this way.

Magic>Melee I feel like so far and the highest level mage I have is 11. Its hard to approach enemies to get close and arrows stop after hitting the first enemy. You just have less options to also get away if there are too many about.

Finally unlocked a level 20 weapon with +5 attack +5 defense and -5 speed.

oh thats disappointing. whats so bad about it?

I cannot take seriously any statement made by a man that has a tiny rose tattoo on his chest. No more wife beaters for teh win.

Maybe I’ll try out Blue tonight so I can unlock this mysterious Buzzsaw dude.

I like when things are broken.

I just played against someone who has a fully leveled Red Knight…

I didn’t believe it at first…but damn, he owns in PvP simply because his attacks don’t knock down.

How is the PvP Arena? I haven’t bothered with it since I thought it would be a infinite fest :v

Agility is like the Jagi of Castle Crashers… while Strength has the infinite and the ability to do it on multiple enemies at once, and Magic can get 12~18 hits a second on bosses, Agility… has absolutely nothing special or broken about it. It just won’t compare to the damage per second with Strength or Magic.

It’s certainly doable (you’ll still have a hard time with bosses), but you’re going to take a lot longer to do everything especially once you hit Insane Mode.

I’m sure it becomes way more useful in Multiplayer though… you no longer have to chase enemies down, arrows can help Strength users juggle the heavyweight small enemies (The ones during the Cyclops arc and in Full Moon)… and you’ll usually be safe from harm.

pvp arena is an infinite fest, you need bat or ram assist to break out

lol @ red knight’s magic. you get hit = GGPO

its fun though, i’ll do it more once i level up my green and gray dudes. the gray dude looks pretty strong, the throws BOMBS

thanks to the exp glitch, leveling an agi guy isnt very hard so i’ll give it a shot anyways

Oh, you meant their arrows are bombs? Not their magic?

I finally got the damned Skeleton for beating the game w/ Red Knight, I guess you have to beat every level. I didn’t have anything completed with him before crossing the ocean, so I just did all that and beat the boss to get it.

He pretty much has the same magic as the guy you get for beating it with Orange. Did you try out the guy you got for beating it with Green? I wanna know what his magic is.

Skeleton bow and arrow is made of bones, made me laugh.

Oh, and I’m convinced that the best way to level up is to initially dump every experience point you possibly can get into magic until you max that out at like level 12-13. Then dump everything from then on until 20 into strength and then start filling defense up. Leave agility for last. Since I started adopting this method I pretty much run through the first half of the game without breaking a sweat. When I get to the Catfish I do the boomerang on him and then do it on the Bat until I get to level 20 and then proceed as usual. It’s much more efficient to be doing 50-60 points of damage with B magic each shot. You can do a little combo and when they’re falling to the ground you nail them with one of your spells for a crapload of damage. You can zone easier and since you can be far away with B magic you just hit them as they get up. It leaves you plenty of space to dodge incoming enemies, adjust for rollers and to jump over projectiles. If you get an aircombo, on the way down just reign hell on everyone with Y magic.

It’s really the only way to efficiently level up and get through the game to unlock characters.

no gray knight’s magic B attack is a bomb, he chucks it like the enemies do. Bombs do an assload of damage (i was hitting 70s on the lightsaber guys) and seem to have an area of effect. i usually do ground combo, from which you can link a bomb, and then bear assist finishes it off.

the magic for chainmail face is the same as gray knight’s i think, hail of arrows is his first attack. i think i will make him my bow user, bow + bombs has gotta be great for zoning

do you know if the lightning infinite is blockable?

oh and for insane mode i think a good thing to do is to have one or two guys just stand there and block while people spam magic

Just got through the game with Skeleton using my method above at level 31. Hardest part was the last boss before the final fight. Did not die once the entire game.

Makes me feel good about the method I tried.

I think I’m going to try Barbarian next since I wanna see what this Beekeeper dude is all about and Barbarian has the generic skillset of arrows+bombs and I don’t have anyone leveled that does that yet.

Is there an actual lightning infinite, or are you simply talking about the splash magic (RT+Y)? I’m pretty sure all splashes are unblockable, and lighting could just catch you in it once and continue to zap you every time you got up with whatever percentage of their magic they regenerate. There has to be a way to “quick recover” from falling down since I see the computer do it all the time; does any one know how to accomplish this feat?

My only other suggestion might be the RT+A jump, since (and I could be mistaken) it feels like there is some invulnerability when you first start up (I mean, I can do it in the pve arenas when mobs are swarming my body, so maybe they’re just waiting for me to stand up before they attack and I get lucky?)

Also for insane mode, I think your idea is pretty good, maybe put orange/green in front blocking so they can tack on a poison/burn to hit while red or saws do the DPS?

alright guys ive manages to get my red knight up to lvl 20 something any tips for fast leveling up in general? btw i have the giraffy animal orb (fast leveling up)

Read a page or two back. I guess there is some exp exploit in the catfish boss fight that all these guys have been using.

Got my green knight to 43 last night. Ive just been leveling up and trying to find all the secrets. I still like the keyblade the best and I either roll with the beholder or the robin for now. The fat bird seems kinda cool as it gives +'s to all stats but 1 I think.

Exp Glitch

Spoiler

Okay, do it on the BatBoss in the cave instead once you manage to unlock that level on insane mode, or find someone to bring you there in an online game.

  1. Beat all the slimes up to get to to final screen where the batty is
  2. Have your boomerang equipped.
  3. As soon as the fight starts, move to the upper-left corner of the screen while the bat is laying the giant turds around when he first comes out of the cave
  4. Wnd up the boomerang like you do during the catfish glitch.
  5. Throw it when the bat approaches you up in the corner so that he steps between you and it during it’s return flight
  6. Block

Much easier to land and you can actually take a rubberband and wrap it around LT and walk away for five minutes. It doesn’t get you nearly as much experience on Normal mode as it does on insane mode because of the drastic HP difference, but you could still do it on Normal mode if you really wanted. Catfish is more efficient on normal mode IMO.

Faight, he was just talking about using Force Lightning to gain ULTIMATE POWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA in arena mode. Once you catch someone with it it’s GGPO so much health unless you get hit out of it. I think jump magic might have some kind of invulnerability because I’ve actually played a few arena matches (in online co-op mode instead of arena mode) and it’s def. hard to land a meaty magic attack if they’re spamming RT+A. You can do a quick recover by timing hitting the A button as your character hits the ground. I’m not sure of the exact timing as sometimes it works better when I hit it as soon as I hit the ground, sometimes it works better if I wait a split second after he hits.

Not even gonna try a suggestion for Insane mode. I’ll see if my partner is online in a little bit and take it from there. Anyone with a fully maxed out character or any characters with Str/Magic/Def maxed out (Agility isn’t as important if you are smart about movement and blocking) then add me on XBL if you think you’ll be on in a little bit - WildKittyv2.

We need as many people as we can get.

Oh, and the character you get for beating the game with Skeleton sucks. I leveled his magic up all the way and it’s garbage, save him for last or something.

Edit: And just to keep the naysayers quiet, because I’ve gotten at least one PM about it. Don’t call me/us lame for exploiting something in the game for experience. I did a perfectly legit run through my first time beating the game with my Blue Knight. Once you start doing multiple runs with different characters to unlock the hidden ones and trying to level up to see who has the best magic to bring to insane mode, then you would do the same exact thing. I’m sure as hell not legitly leveling every character up to 60-80 in order to have a chance at beating level 2 on insane mode. :stuck_out_tongue:
