I just think Blue knight has the most potential simply because of freeze.
You have to remember two things about the potential infinites though
You can wiggle out of freeze
You might be able to quick recover out of the stomp infinite, I haven’t really tried to be honest. I think most people might just be holding block or something, you might be able to quick recover out of it.
The freeze on the ground infinite might be fast enough to not be escapable by wiggling the analog stick. He recovers pretty quickly after the elemental attack and X is very quick. It takes a second or two to wiggle out of ice even if you’re doing it really fast. I’ll have to test it next time we play and have to fight over the princess. If I can show you, you would understand better. It’s so simple to do it’s not even funny.
Also, in arena mode (I played a few games), the characters are leveled out I think. I was only shooting 3 giant icicles with my magic when during the game I was shooting 4 big ones and 1 little one, so that combo might not exist (X,X,X,Y being elemental) in arena mode.
And yeah, I guess you have to unlock them in single player. I still can’t beat the Peasant one. I can get to the last round but there’s just too many knights. I might try blocking more next time, but they surround you and it’s impossible to see if you put your back in a corner because of the giant cats.
This game is fucking addicting. In the mid-twenties now with my Orange knight. I might try one of the secret characters too. Even though one of them can not use weapons other than their stock weapon.
You kill the Boss Troll and all the little trolls die except one. That one little fucker is frozen and will not die. Which leaves you unable to do the chase on the deer segment.
This has happened half of the time I played that level. I either have to kill myself in the camp fire nearby or simply exit out of the game.

Fig: I’ve seen that happen and something else extremely weird happened to me too. I was playing a game with someone, just use two, and he was about to level while we were fighting some guys. He died like just as soon as he leveled up, or the guy hit him with an arrow and he hit him with a spell or something. I dunno, but he died as soon as he leveled up and I couldn’t revive him, so we had to leave the area because I couldn’t do anything with his body stuck there.
I encountered a weird bug today as well. I was only able to do it twice, but after that I couldn’t replicate it. In the Thieve’s Forest stage, drop off the large cliff and then turn around toward the wall. Go to the lower section of the wall (closer to the foreground) and hit the attack button. You’ll be moved forward slightly, and if you’re lucky you’ll go into the wall. If you run up through the dirt part of the wall, you’ll actually “sky walk” around in the background and be able to run anywhere. Running to the very top or bottom part of the screen returns you to solid ground. :looney:
Man, Thieves Forest on insane mode is so good for leveling up. Just wailing on the boss dude at the end gets so much exp w/ the giraffe animal equipped.

I spent like 10 minutes running up and down the arena to dodge the attacks and just lunged at everyone. And what character unlock do I get? A piece of shit one, that’s what.
Yeah, it’s a fucking Peasant with the same generic arrow hail as the other guys.
Only character with a different type of magic so far is the Knight you unlock for beating the game w/ the buzzsaws.
Lightning is RAPEFACE. I’m only playing normal, but I’ve taken down all the bosses since I got about half leveled magic in no time flat. The thing that chases you when you’re riding on the carriage? Took it down to like 10% with one magic bar, then waited 5 seconds and killed it. Bat boss? Two full magic bars. Lightsaber dude? Three, because he ran away in the middle of one to play his piano.
Normal guys get locked in the bolt when you start blasting.
Holy crap it’s amazing.
Edit: Someone mentioned wanting to use a stick for this, I just realized that my Hori EX2 has the following button configuration:
B X Y
A L R
So with this setup, jab would be item, strong would be light attack, fierce would be heavy attack, short would be jump, forward would be block, and roundhouse is magic charge thingy. When I want to switch items, the left and right buttons are above the joystick and buttons respectively.
Another cool note is I found out you can get magic by hitting buttons simultaneously. So hitting Y and R at the same time gets you splash magic, instead of having to hold do R all the time. One fun thing is that if you hit A, R, and Y/B at the same time, you do the magic jump and instantly shoot the projectile. It looks really silly when you do the diagonal one because it hits at your feet and you go flying up and backwards, and I’m not sure if the horizontal one will hit normal sized characters or not. This might have some use in PVP arena since you’re instantly launching (which does damage) and shooting a spell (which does damage). I’m not sure if they combo or not because I tried it out just now and I’m tired from working all night and I’m going to bed.
I plan on beating the game with lightning tonight and then trying out the other characters some more.
Just bought this due to a friend recommending it to me. I’m not too happy about the price of 1200, but eh, I need something until Tales of Vesperia comes out. I like the levelling system and air combos. I don’t like the poo jokes.
I haven’t tried online yet. I’m actually worried about trying online given that pretty much everyone says it sucks.
Green is the shit. Im telling you, dot (damage over time) for the fuckin’ win man. The combo X,X,X,Y fucks shit up. It poisons whoever im beating and it seems to be infinite. Green knight+ lightning knight = destruction. That fool zaps them and keeps them in place while I unleash green gas and do that splash type damage. Me and some random dude were wreckin’ shit that way.
i thought Tales was out already…? at least i see people on my friendlist playing
yeah that combo is nice, i thought i was accidentally hitting a magic spell in the middle. i like the green dude’s fireballs, they do a lot of damage. the gas thing is nice in the arena since it knocks down and seems to cover a lot of space
@ Faight: how much damage is the lightning stuff doing, and which spell are you using to do it? oh and what level are you?
i’m going to try using my stick tonight, i kinda dont like where the block button is though.
Lol, me and Fig were just in a game doing the Exp trick on the catfish boss and we did it so well we broke the game. It looked like an abstract artist’s impression of the game, lol.
Lol, did it again. Do not use the boomerang trick to kill the Catfish boss or the game glitches graphically.
Get it by having the Cardinal orb equipped and go into the Thieves Forest stage, it’s after the first screen. The Cardinal is located in the Industrial Building level.
You throw the boomerang behind the catfish, charge it up so it goes far enough. Line yourself up right next to him and block. The boomerang comes back and catches him on the back and stays there. Don’t let it kill him though or the game goes all glitchy graphically and you have to go back to the dashboard.
