A suggestion for everyone using Kaillera

p2p kaillera is great, and it seems more and more players are making the transition to using it. At the moment though, not many games are actually listed under the p2p waiting games list.

Mainly the way things seem to work now is, people make a game in GW, and then when someone joins, they arrange a p2p match. Many of the players who do this have something like (p2p) after their names.

What I propose to do from now on is this:

After my name, I will put (P2P up Now). This indicates that I currently have a game in the waiting games list on p2p, of the same type as the one I have listed in GW. There’s no need to join my GW game, just go directly to p2p and join there.

If everyone starts to adopt this practice, then it will first of all save lots of matchmaking time, and also, it will cause more games to be listed on the p2p list, and cause a transition to more p2p games being played in general.

Now if only p2p actually works more than 10% of the time consistently for me…

But yeah, thats a great idea for people wanting to have p2p games easier and don’t have a big problem with p2p games starting up.

there is a mirc channel too (on efnet - #srkkaillera), or get people’s contacts off here and set up matches with their ip addy

do u have to run 2 instances of kaillera for this?

you can shut down the GW one when someone joins your p2p game.

how do i run p2p aswell when im running client mode i mean

Just make 2 different mame folders. Install mame into both of them then put the regular kaillera client in one and the p2p in the other. You can keep the roms in one folder so you don’t have to have multiple copy’s of each rom for each mame. Just set the rom directory of your 2nd mame to the rom folder in your 1st mame.

You can launch two Mame and launch Kaillera on both (one on P2P, other on a server), no need to copy your mame folder…

Isnt there a new Kailera client that lets you do Ps2 and run/join servers, i could swear the one i use has that.

thanks guys, thought so, thats all i wanted to know.
