Oops, thread was so derailed I forgot this started about Cody.

With all this talk about auto correct I forgot it was about Cody as well xDDD
Ha ha, perhaps I should have quoted when I posted.
Why do Cody players keep complaining? No matter what Capcom does it’s never enough. Meanwhile his FF buddy Guy’s still having the same problems he has since SUPER. Cody got projectiles, a fierce overhead literally, 3 AAs, and easy bnbs. Now he’s got viable knife strats. He’s fine.
Talk to me about Cody buffs when Yang does more damage, Oni becomes viable, and Sim can effectively do what he’s designed to do.
Multiple strong Cody players attended EVO this year (BJ Unchained, HarrisonSBA, Karipaku, OFC Free Willy, ect.) not one made it to the top 150. Only 3 made it out of pools and they all lost in their first match post-pools.
Chris Hu made top 16 with Oni.
Yang DOES do damage, his BnBs are about as damaging as Yun/Fei’s BnBs at around 180 and he has some really good extended combos if people FADC his MP Palm or use his clsMK more often. In the corner he can easily get over 310 off of a hitconfirm for 1 bar. He can get 400+ off of his command throw by doing command throw - s.LP - ultra 1. Really Yang’s problem is his lack of a crossup, and his target combos being weak. PR Balrog stated he almost counter picked Infiltration with Yang in Evo top 8. Justin Wong also stated that while he and PR Balrog were in japan before EVO they saw a lot of tech that makes them think Yang is stronger than people realize and very much viable.
Sim has issues and sim players deserve to bitch and they do so. he is getting a pretty major buff in his far MK armor breaking which hopefully fixing SOME of his bigger issues with how focus hurts his zoning alot, plus his damage overall is going up.
Guy is getting a pretty god damn useful change in majorly buffing sMP - sHP hitbox, also Guy’s weaknesses outside of the grappler matchups are somewhat overstated and Marq Teddy has shown that. He has problems no doubt and hopefully gets more buffs but Guy has had several very meaningful buffs while Cody has had 2 or 3 meaningful buffs and a fix to an overhead that could be DP Punished ON HIT in super (and btw, is the 2nd highest total frame count non-special move overhead in the game making it one of the most unsafe to ever whiff.)
I don’t agree with Kdash’s tone, but Cody certainly has not received anything meaningful in USF4 so far and he has a PLETHORA of bugs and miss-set data that needs fixing. More than any other character in the game.
Cody’s not bad necessarily, he just struggles with the long range/wakeup game. If vortex gets nerfed, he will indirectly become better just based on his strengths alone.
Guy is pretty damn good and very underrated, top 15 in my book. Just fix some hitboxes and make his U1 lock in against airborne opponents and you have a nice top 10 contender.
Yang is solid mid tier. He has his fair share of strengths and weaknesses, damage being a weakness. He has a good mid range and frame trap game with some tricky mixups. Not to mention easy hit confirms into ultra and one of the best supers in the game.
Oni is definitely viable imo, I just don’t think there’s been a breakthrough character specialist who uses him yet. He does amazing damage and has good mixups, he just needs a better projectile and some tweaks for some normals and he’ll be really legit.
Dhalsim is pretty bad, but that is mostly a system problem, not necessarily with the character itself. If his 2 hit s.mk buff goes through to deal with focus, I see him automatically rising in tiers, not to mention more damage and supposedly 2 ultras.
Cody has a LOT of little problems that add up and one or two big problems (mostly he trades WAY too often and his wakeup game sucks.) fixing all of his bugs will go a long way towards making him better, then you add in some increased mobility viable better backdash and faster walk speed (I think Cody should be somewhere around the middle between where Ken and Ryu are now for walk speed.) and give him a secondary option besides frame traps that are succeptable to stand teching.
Either by making badstone a legit zoning tool (faster startup, better arc) or giving him a legit high low game (overhead forces standing on 2nd hit so that it’s always +3F on hit. cr.LK becomes +1F on block +4F on hit so he has an actual low hit confirm) or give him a new move such as Vism dodge to allow him to play a sort of counter poke game where can avoid your moves more easily to make up for his slow startup frames on many attacks.
Doing the first thing and then any ONE of the three others would shoot him up from around bottom 10-15 to top 10-15 without really destroying his identity as a character.
I hate auto correct. The game should make the move come out on the side it was input on. It shouldn’t change based on where the opponent is. I would like all characters to have the same issues Guile does.
Are you just now realizing the people who made SF4 are not the same people who made SF2?
Are you just now realizing the development staff at Capcom thats been there for the past decade don’t know anything about fighting games?
^Not exclusive to fighting games.
