Wow. So first thing’s first. I want to apologize to everyone who came for being a little behind on our schedule. I know people were traveling in from out of state and wanted to get into their tournaments. We were a little short on man-power, but I hope once our tournaments got going, they were run smoothly and efficiently. Second, I’m sorry for any set-ups that had lag on them. As soon as people complained, we tried to switch to CRTs. Unfortunately, BlazBlue and HDR had to play on a few laggy setups, but I hope it wasn’t that bad. Thank you guys for understanding.

Next, I’d like to give mad props to all of the gamers that showed up to rep their respective states. We had peeps from FIVE states show up to our tourney (TX, OK, MO, TN, and AR). Our biggest turnout was Street Fighter 4 (37 entrants; pot was $370). Our smallest turnout for one of our main games was CvS2 (8 entrants; pot was $40). Garou was voted in (11 votes) but only 6 people wanted to pay when the time came, so it had an even smaller pot ($30), but it was winner take all.

It’s 4AM in the morning and I’m super tired, but I’m sure people want to at least see a** partial** results page. Without further ado, here’s a brief summary of the results (Top 3 + Payouts). Alright first off: Lessons learned. 1) It’s hella hard to make tournaments run on schedule. 2) Ban Dallas from the SF4 tournies and Memphis from every other game. Haha, just kidding. Good shit guys. We’ll get to y’alls level soon.

Time for some shout-outs. First off, shout-out to everyone who came. We are trying to build a community and put Arkansas on the map. I hope this is a baby step towards where we need to be. We got peeps repping all different places (get to those more specifically later). More importantly, we got a good turnout from Arkansas. I’m proud of you guys. A little disappointed with the Brawl turnout, but SmashBoards has been down for the past few days, so I’ll cut them a little slack.

Next, shout-out to everyone who brought equipment, even if we didn’t use it. Seriously, we asked the community and you guys delivered. We had at least 20-30 TVs. and a lot of Wiis and PS3s.

Shout-out to FlyMike, Lil Majin, and the entire Memphis crew for representing their city and taking back some fight money. I hope you guys had a good time and I’m glad y’all drove down here to hang with us. Y’all were really chill and definitely helped hype things up. Sorry our boy Jeremy (Viper) had to show that Honda what’s up. But yeah, you guys are on a whole 'nother level in Tekken it seems.

Shout-out to Adnan, Arthur, and the entire Dallas crew for also bringing home some money and showing us what’s up in SF. You guys are really classy and it was fun hosting y’all. I got your Cammy next time Adnan. I can work towards your Rog after that haha. Oh and Arthur, it’s not your fault. Guile’s top tier in “First Attack.” Let the record show that I won $.25 in a First Attack money match with Arthur.

Shout-out to OneDirtyLei, Saif, and the Oklahoma Crew for probably driving the longest distance and showing up to play. I’m glad y’all could come out and I want everyone who’s around the Oklahoma area to visit OKgamers.com for more info on tournaments that Saif will be hosting all over Oklahoma.

Special Shout-Out to Warden for representing West Plains, MO! The only guy to rep a state that we never thought we’d get players from. I didn’t really get to ever talk to you much dude, but I respect that you came all the way here by yourself and you definitely have a really solid Bison. Thanks for coming out man.

Shout-Out to our special volunteers for working their asses off just so they can support the scene. The guys running the brackets? If it wasn’t me or Mike, it was someone who doesn’t play video games and had no reason to even come to our tournament except as a favor to me and Mike.

Shout-Out to Imperator for lending his time and wisdom and also sacrificing his SF4 spot. Thanks so much man. You’ve been a huge help to the community, always providing almost anything we need. I really appreciate it.

Shout-Out to DisturbinglyZen for generating and running some brackets. You didn’t have to and it was pretty time consuming, but you eased a huge burden on us. Thank you so much also.

Shout-Out to Warpticon for going to drastic measures to attend and participate in the tournament. I tip my hat to you.

Like I said, thanks everyone for coming out. I know I’m missing some shout-outs. I apologize if I didn’t put you down. It was great meeting so many people for the first time and seeing so many familiar faces all over again. I just wish I could’ve played/watched more matches, but that’s what running a tournament does.

Great tourney. Being on the opposite side of the bracket from the people I came with was great, free pizza and soda was super awesome, and the venue was large too. You guys had plenty of setups and a good turnout, I’m glad I went.

I know your busy but i was wondering if you were going to post the full results so newbs like me can see what they got. I had such a great time last night thanks to you and mike for working hard to put this together

Up to y’all to decide whether this goes in the ladder. Doesn’t matter to me. If it does go in the ladder, none of the matches against people from out of state will count because we’ll likely not play them again anytime soon.

Also, I’ll have the full results (full standings + the full bracket) in the coming days so you can what you ranked and who you won/lost against.

Glad you came out Blake. I hear you got some good wins against some good peeps.

Thanks for coming down to our hoedown throw down. I learned quite a bit from you guys. I have a feeling many of my matches are over before they begin because of my lack of confidence as a Viper player. First major tournament I’ve ever attended and played at. Ark has a lot of work to do, but we’re coming along! Also, FMF, thanks for the Honda tips!

LMAO. Wow, that was a pleasant tourney. Spacious, and it was the hospitality that was most appreciated. Thanks SmokeMaxX(Max) and Xi Weng(Mike) for having us, and to the whole crew that made this thing happen. Just wish more of TN could’ve came out. It ran so smooth and efficiently that if games actually started earlier we would’ve had time to enter SF4 3v3 and probably hang out some more. Also, hate that GGAC didn’t get the write in vote but was cool because I actually got to really play MOTW for the first time, and even work a few cats with my scrubby 15 minutes in training mode Khushnood BUTT. And for the record, I will be supporting and attending future A.R.K. events.:wink:

Yo, I don’t know why you guys made me and Jeremy’s(C.VIP) match one of the hypest at the tourney. I’m trash in SF4 lol. Still kicking myself…wasn’t expecting Vipe’s ultra to hit me on start-up and then not connect with the other hits, but I fucked up my execution on the counter ultra FTW!! Hell, all I had to do was BREATHE on you. From that point on I was spazzing out over it mentally lol and couldn’t seem to keep up the intensity anymore. Jeremy made a huge comeback. Good shit bro. Sweet revenge is gonna come in Soup when I can just snatch that redhead bitch up with ultra2 even though it looks like it sucks too. Btw, sorry Iori for you losing the sidebet on me LOL! Man…I need to be slapped for not taking it when it was free. Dude, I got you next time I swear lol.

Props to everyone who came out, drove miles, played, watched, commentated, those who came only to eat chinese food but realized the restaurant was closed and left pissed lol, etc. It was a great tourney. Arthur, we crossed paths too often in these damn 2D games. Leave me the hell alone or play Tekken lol. Thanks Sebastian for the hype MM that helped with gas to get back home. Didn’t know Duk had a fucking death combo. Scary, and I respect the character fully. Looking to play you more man. FindMyFarms is a crunk ass guy, but next time put your money on me and bring the rest of Dallas and all of TEXAS with you :bgrin:

But yea, that’s all I got for now. Will be keeping an eye out for future A.R.K. events so keep us posted. Also try to make it down to Nashville sometimes. They have tourneys everyday and DreamTR’s arcade is sweet. Plus the SF4 scene is booming there. So AR, TN, MS, definitely as well as other areas here in the South should regularly support one another. Let’s make this happen.

P.S. Xi Weng(Mike) start back playing Tek again pleeeeeeease. :blush:

EDIT: It was confirmed I wasn’t the only one who craved chinese food the entire day. Much thanks for the pizza and drinks but being in that restaurant for hours with no buffet was torture. LOL, til next time guys.

Hahaha, trust me man, I know the feeling of blowing execution on something you KNOW you can do easily. I HAAATTTEEEE the Honda matchup, it’s Viper’s worst if I’m not mistaken, and just from that fact alone, you’re already inside my head when it starts. Also, every time you’d taunt, it just made me focus a little bit harder.

It was really awesome to meet some of the Memphis crew, my 360 just came in today, so I’ll try to start learning some T6 for Mike’s sake lol. He’s bored out of his mind with no one to play with/against, and I look at it as paying my respects to your locale when it comes time for us to head up there.

I’m really proud of us. What some of you out-of-towners don’t realize is how we tried to build things roughly 1 year ago and we could barely get 8 people to commit to showing for gatherings…and then half of those wouldn’t show up. I don’t know how many sessions we were supposed to have that ended up being me, Justin, Mike, and maybe one or two others just screwing around on Justin’s cab. Fast forward one year, and we’re capable of runnning an 8+ game tournament with attendent in the 60’s from 5 different states. That is fantastic. No intention of stopping there, though. We still have a long way to go as a scene. But I’m mad happy at how far we’ve come.

It was really good to have all you cats from all over show up. You were all mad chill and I enjoyed meeting you all. You definitely need to come back the next time we have an event in the Rock, and I know I plan on coming your direction when I can. Sometime within the next month to month and a half, I plan on going to Austin for a while, and I’ll have to gather some people up and stop in the D for a bit on the way. Memphis is 2 hours away, so we should be able to come through sometime.

Had a great time in Little Rock. I think that is going to be the only time I eat pizza at a Chinese buffet. Seriously though, for the size of this tournament, and your lack of experience running one, it went really well. Hope to see more events from you guys in the future. Might have to bring a full carload next time…

Although extremely late, I had fun times lol. Getting 3rd in BB hurt my brain, not cuz I got 3rd but because Lil Majin’s Tager flashed white so many times my thumbs froze lol.

I loved it, great times, thanks to Smokemaxx and Mike for awesome times, food and ass whoopins.
