A losing rut...

What do you do when you get into loss after loss after loss after loss after loss, and it keeps on going?
Figured starting a questionairre about what others might do could perhaps make me feel slightly better.

I’ve gone down 1000BP in straight losses…and lost cool as well but mainly losses. It’s gotten very depressing.

I pick any combination of R tier (Rolento/Rufus/Ryu/Raven) and Hugo.

Never happens for me I have a 30 win streak in ranked never lost once…I hardly lose… sooo stay jelly

Thank you for making me feel worse, as if enough doesn’t do that already.

Just stop caring about points. It’s not a measure of skill and nobody wins all their games. Take your losses and just make something out of it like improving certain aspects of your game. Namely review your replays, look at where and how you got hit a lot. Then analyze how you can prevent these same situations next time and just move on from there.

in all seriousness though… i jus started ranked mode 2 days ago… most of the time I played player matches.

And imo player matches is a better training method because you dont have your points taunting u as it decreases so you can actually play with the mindset of getting better, while sustaining your confidence

The points thing was the best example I could give of how often I was beaten.

I don’t lose over and over really but two on the bounce and I get pissed right off. In my experience, you’re better off hitting training or playing a different game for a bit before coming back to it later.

The key is to figure out *why *you lost each game. Hit up the replays and see where you went wrong. Unsafe shit, meter wastage, recklessness, not punishing etc.

When I start losing on ranked I go into training mode and do some combos then do endless until I get a couple of wins. Win lose or draw it doesn’t matter, plus I enjoy watching other people to pick up tips.

I had a similar issue recently. On Saturday I had this issue where my game would just stay at the versus screen, never loading. Only in ranked matches. When I exit to dashboard and come back, id be down 50 points.
I tried a few times and gave up. Reinstalled the game, everything. Came back a few hours later and was fine. However I went from 1200bp down to 500.
Then I just kept losing and breaking even. very frustrating. I decided to also try gief/hugo and force myself to use my TE stick. More losing.
Went back to Rolento/Gief, grabbed a few beers and ended the night on a 14 win streak, up to 2000bp.
Maybe you need to mix up your team. Gief is my guy and I would RAGE when I died with Rolento before even getting gief in.
I’ve been playing since SF2, and I get my ass handed to me all the time. Normally a learning experience and im stubborn. but this games mean mechanic of lsoing when one guy is dead, and other full health… I actually hiss at the screen. hence i started drinking. never before have I raged at games.
Might also be old age kicking in and making me feel old. I remember beating on J Wong in MvC2 ages ago…

the only to get better is by losing and learning

“Gotta keep on trucking”

or take a small break, you might be playing this a bit too much.

yes this actually works. for me at least. u maybe losing out of anger…at least i do cuz i get so defeated and angry that im doing stupid shit

i Was winning alot of matchs ranking up and decided to change my anchor and learn new chars, now i have 0 bp,Bp wont get you any pussy or money so its nothing to stress about, i just wanted my achiement for c+ or whatever it was then ditched my anchor bison, such a broad game to stick with sf chars …i took a week off also as i felt like i was in quick sand, burned my self out the first week or release…now between operation racoon city multiplayer im tinkering with many chars and losing but learning in ranked as i always have…the week off alot excelled really fast leaving me behind and still wandering the cast list should leave me in the dust, but ehh , ether way no pussy or money ,so i dont stress

Points are a lie in any fighting game. Play against your friends (preferably your good ones) for awhile until you start winning. Once you get your confidence back after that then try again. Thats what I do. Breaks don’t hurt either especially if you have a reason. I stopped playing for about a week because that new DLC came out for Gears of war 3

I take a long, long, long break. Then come back later, and hope to do better lol.

Yup, taking a break always helps. Even though it´s hard to quit after many losses in a row, you´re not getting anywhere playing pissed. Either shut the game down completely for some hours or the day, or get a good friend on the same skill level and play some casual matches against him.
Capcom games can easily anger you with the big pointlosses you´ve to endure, making you feel like spending the past hour for nothing at all if you lose once or twice.

You know, it’s not really the points that make me feel so bad after losses. It’s just how many I get and hearing the dang phrase ‘YOU LOSE!’ that is the most irritating out of the whole thing. Anyone else think so?

I can handle a 4-5 game losing streak just fine if the players were flat out better than me. I just can’t stand when there’s runners, lag, and trolls in between those losses.

Oh yeah, I know that feeling. The “You Lose” in combination with certain winquotes has great potential to infuriate. Happened often to me when playing marvel, the game with the most insulting and annoying winquotes I´ve ever seen (they´re not bad, they´re just… effective). Losing a close match against a Dante who proudly presents his six pack while saying “MORE than enough…” in an arrogant tone put me on the edge quite a few times
