If we hold a tourney in Niagara Falls, is it still considered GTA?
In all seriousness though, tournies in Hamilton open the door for everything. I’m gonna throw a tourney at my place in two weeks. There’s a $10 “attendance” fee and games will be $5 to enter. Games will include Jager Bomber, Chip Eater, and Get-The-Fuck-Out.
Whats up Nagata, its Millertime, fought you online earlier today. Told you id give a shout out so i did
Eventually ill start coming out to tourneys and stuff, but for now, ill just fight online and practice with a few rl buddies, who should end up coming to the tourneys i go too.
Thanks for mentioning this thread to me bro, well appreciated
I didn’t see anything on the Pownz forums about this…
Maybe you should post something up there? They’re having a bunch of other crap going on that day, too. I don’t know if many pownz regs other than myself are terribly down, though. I was the only one who bothered to show up to Saturday’s fighter day (which is on Wednesdays now, I think that’s a 10 dollar entry for the night or something like that, every week.)
I wouldn’t see Justin doing this without talking it over with pownz though, maybe he was leaving the announcement on the forums until he knew what the #s would be like from GTASF.
well he must have talked to somebody if he said theres a deal available for the day, i just mean maybe it would be good to mention it to the pownz regulars so they know about it.
Mongoose; the fees and all the other stuff was worked out between Lorenzo and myself.
The tournament was not put on the POWNZ forums at my request. I was still promoting a GTASF related tournament and didn’t want to split promotion between both until I was done with the other one. I’ll be popping into POWNZ this week with a flyer/information to be left at the front desk along with a topic on the boards.
Everyone typically pays a one time membership (usually $15) and pays for the time (either $4/hr or $10 for 3 hours). They provide the equipment. They have something like 20 X-BOX 360’s, LCD TV’s, etc… The premise is very much like a Net Cafe. They have a Wii but it’s not modded so we have to bring our own for TvC. They have a PS2 but it’s not modded so unless we bring legit copies of everything, we have to bring our own. It’s an odd impasse but the compromise is hardly a big deal IMO.
Generally speaking, the logistics behind console tournaments is you have to pay for the venue fee regardless and you’re either asked or in some cases required to bring your own sticks/controllers/games/consoles. This isn’t much different and if anything is a far more comfortable environment. Going there for casuals is a bit odd because we have casuals at my place all the time anyway but if you have more than say 6 people that idea is shot and POWNZ really is the best alternative.
Think I’ll get the GTASF rate for this? I think you guys get a different pricing because you only show up in a group and use like one TV and all your own stuff; everyone else actually pays a dollar more per individual hour.
It’s $6/hour if you’re not a member so if you really don’t want to bother with that, just do that. I’d go with the membership though, it’s a better deal and because you won’t be using all the time anyways, you can just use that time next time you show.
By the other crap going on that day I meant the regulars will probably be getting into other stuff (Lock in, and I think left 4 dead or something). Nobody should be in your way as far as playing goes, I don’t think, they use the small TVs for that.
And it’s about time I dragged my n00b ass over here, eh? Thanks for the welcome NL.
