It was gaming news sites reporting gaming news. You can call them sensationalistic or whatever if you want, but ‘white knight’ has some different connotations. (edit: specifically it has a lot to do with male nerds who have this irrational idea that it’ll help them with that specific woman or women in general to defend their honor)
Also! It’s not hearsay, they had specific quotes from both Aris and Super_Yan about the situation, as well as other random people weighing in on the situation from the community. The articles have been rife with direct quotes… and the community brought this on themselves by being goddamn stupid in the response to what happened.
Also also! You might not be aware, but a number of streams *already *have those warnings up, and have like forever. Twitch automatically supports that option.
What gets me is that I’m not at all a person that uses expletives, I’ve turned off audio on some streams do to the language or the subject being talked about, and I really don’t have an issue with UltraChen commentary. I never, ever, ever thought I’d agree with people that refer to eSports killing the FGC and all that. But, when I saw that they pulled EVO points from WNF, watched the video of the “offending” comments, and saw that Marn and ETR pretty much got thrown under the bus all the fears suddenly made a lot more sense.

If someone is really broken up about this turn of events, they can stop crying cuddlysoft tears and realize its a free country and cannons/srk/evo is only the defacto head of the FGC at the moment. You can always start your own realtalk league, have your own majors to compete with kidmittensEVO and keep it as grimy as they wanna be. The community will decide (influenced by sponsors; who equal corp.s = people who dont play or generally care about fgs).

The problem with the commentary on WNF wasn’t the subject matter, it was because it, was as the internet likes to say, too soon. They should have shown some restraint and considered the possible consequences of making those comments at that particular point in time.
