A good way to convert PS2 signal to VGA or DVI? Even HDMI?

I’m using a LCD monitor for my gaming consoles (PS3, 360, PS2), but the only inputs that it has are VGA, DVI, and HDMI. The first two have that covered, but the PS2 doesn’t. The only solution that I can think of is some sort of Composite or Component to VGA converter. However, there could be some lag among those so it’s a hit or miss. There’s also those VGA boxes but I’m not really sure on their availability or success.

Does anybody have a tried and tested method for this?

afaik, if you connect it via VGA adapter, there will be no lag. i have an old pelican vga adapter that i’ve been using for my ps2 and it works fine for me. i connect it with S-video. only downside with mine is the colors are not as vivid. but i dont mind. its best for my crt monitor, i’ve tried it on my lcd monitor recently to play beatmania IIDX on widescreen, and i got no lag, but the color wasnt so hot.

There was an official PS2 VGA adaptor, unfortunately it’s rare as fuck since it only ever came with the Linux kit. It also has some other limitation (needs Sync-on-green, only works with games that support progressive scan).

i use an av-1 for my supergun and i don’t notice any lag. the picture is very crisp, even on my 52" hdtv(almost too crisp for neogeo). i have not tested it with anything but rgb input, but it came with component cables. i can try it out later when i get back from work.

edit: it works fine on ps2.

Whoa had no idea that could be done…O_O

IIRC there are some modchip that allow any game to be run via the cable.

I got a Hori Upscan Converter that I’m not using anymore. I could sell it for what I paid for it. 100 bux. PM me if you want it.

Best PS2 to VGA.

Best PS2 to VGA.

I use this: XCM 1080p Mega-Cool VGA Box

shmups forum reccomends hd box pro or xrgb - both can take a component input and output a vga signal. http://www.hdboxpro.com/eng/shop.htm

Whoa, that site has a Composite Video to HDTV Component upgrade device. Now that might be what I’m looking for to ensure my PS1 and older consoles don’t look like dog crap on the HDTV!

have you tried getting an svideo cable? That helped my snes a lot on my hdtv

most ps2 games doesnt output vga so a TRUE vga box like x2vga is out of the question(most fighters are standard res). you want hdboxpro.

Yeah. I currently use an S-Video Cable for my PS2 and PS1.
For the Dreamcast I use a VGA Box which is good enough. The S-Video cables that are out there for the DC look like crap.
I was actually thinking of getting one of these specifically for the SNES.
