So one day I’d like to start playing at tourneys. Maybe even be up on the big stage at evo, however, I was introduced into the fighting game circuit about last year, so I’m a bit of a scrub.
I wanted to improve on my mvc3 skills, so I recorded to of my losing matches and was hoping for suggestions on how to improve and point out things I’ve done wrong. (Using Wesker, Doom, Dormammu)
Also one side note: is there a way to get around chun-li’s leg spam? I wasn’t able to record it, but I was put in a corner and trap by it. I tried pushblocking but he would spam legs again. Same with Akuma’s hurricane kick. Much thanks.
#1:
:05 Doom’s Molecular Shield hit and you did not go for Chaotic Flame or use the free time to accumulate power of Destruction/Creation. Fire Floor is an ok use of the time, but Arthur is a character who generally wants to keep his distance, so it is not very useful against him.
:07 Dark Hole xx Chaotic Flame. The chip damage only ended up doing about 70 damage to Arthur and isn’t effective use of meter, ideally you would want to not cancel into Chaotic Flame if you recognize that the Dark Hole was blocked.
:21 Missing the Purification xx Chaotic Flame
:48 Used a short MHS air combo, MMHS will let you squeeze out a bit more damage
:50 Missing it again, though that time it was using the wrong Purification
:57 If you predict the enemy with Purification lock you, Chaotic Flame beats it
Overall I would say you need to work on meter management and the v Dormammu matchup (due to the tools at his disposal, fighting Dorm is usually far different from fighting any other character). Maybe also use Wesker/Dorm/Doom as team order instead, Dormammu is a very meter hungry character and Wesker produces tons of meter while using very little of it himself.
The second match is more or less the same, but it’s more clear that your Wesker definitely needs work and that you need to work on hit-confirming. I would emphasize working on Wesker’s mobility.
Can’t say much about your Doom because he was never on the field and not getting comboed.
The first two things is that you use supers too often, kinda a waste unless you predict there’s a high chance of hitting or making sure in a combo.
Secondly you need to space and time yourself better, you jumped over and landed in the other Dom’s fire move which almost landed you into a lv3 hyper.
You have to be able to use all moves at any given range, that’s how you keep your mix up but at the same time if your an advance player you would know that by the range of yourself and the other person is the easiest way to predict what move they might use so you have to mix it up even more. But no, there are no counters so feel free to mash away like a retard as most do.
You could at least try to dominate the game play, try using projectiles much more, make them take chip damage and once in awhile hit them, that’s basically how formula players play. Deadpool in paticular is good at that. Or make use of Dr. Doom’s hidden missile more at least.
