A directory of drop off "do it for you" hardware shops

There’s a reason why they call mega hardware warehouses “do it yourself” places and not “do it for you” places.

Is there a directory of local dify laborers for hire by zip code? If it’s $5 for a 5-10 minute job, it would save me money vs sending it to my guy, Stan, pay him, and pay forback shipping.

Stan did the hard part of understanding my design, and he has other clients, so I don’t want to pester him if I don’t have to. I know what goes where, I just need someone with the tools and talent.

By the way, I tried Best Buy and they don’t touch ANYTHING not Mass manufactured.

Neither Home Depot nor Lowe’s can help me either.

Someone suggested Radio Shack, except where do I find one near my zip code.

And most handymen in Angie’s List usually don’t do drop offs or electronic soldering, let alone both. Most local electricians deal with power systems within homes, not circuits?

Also I tried Angie’s list.com and looked under handymen…

Long winded thoughts about using a gender segregating word and meaning a gender integrated word

(Or handywomen. Some words sound awkward to unisexualize, like, " The Oscar for the best Acting Person. " If acting categories were not gender segregated. By the way, what is the rule which designates your category, the performer’s gender or the character’s, assuming they are not the same. In Tootsie. the character is identified as male and has to blend in as a female for some reason. The actor was in the best actOR category. If a child acting person too young to be sexually distinct plays an opposite gender role, Straight acting. No comedy, with no element of disguise or ambiguity. like a grade school girl playing Jesus in a religious school with very few on par boy actors there, in a school play. best actor or actress? I understand grade school is not Hollywood, and that’s not a practical issue in Hollywood/Broadway. Just a mind exercise)

… Handyperson and it’s not automatic that they do electronic soldering. The average one travels to homes and are jacks (and jills) of all trades house who do lots of minor touch up work.

I even tried the county vocational education people to see if I can hire someone. Normally they would, but they don’t have an electronics department.

In the old days you’d look them up in the yellow pages. Now you got Google. I don’t know what category of people you look up.

I would say electronics repair, but everyone wants to work with a plan and not just solder a random thing which may be mistaken for a bomb, just because I said so and wave a debit card. I understand that.

I know. SRK is the biggest fight community (and despite a website name referring to Street Fighter term, less Capcom-centric than testyourmight.com is Midway-centric) so you may have a listing or “soldering touch up” places, with a finish while you wait timeline. For more complex things, like a whole new stick, use a craftsman, but for minor repairs, if it’s cheaper than sending it to your guy, paying his labor, and ship back and will do any joystick related work, I guess I could use your directory. But maybe expand it to local repair person, who can do drop off soldering as commanded. One who might not build the whole stick, but can do minor, specific tasks, searchable by geograpgy.

I’ll check the directory now.
