A couple of questions about the Mad Catz TE Stick

I got this stick yesterday and I’m just wondering about a couple of things.

  1. Should the warranty sticker always be across the gap between the removable back board and the rest of the stick?

I’m sure this is where I’ve always seen it, so that if you remove the back plate, the sticker gets ripped hence you lose your warranty.

I bought my stick off eBay in very good condition, but the warranty sticker is just on the back plate itself, not across any gap. It doesn’t look like it’s been moved at all and it’s stuck down solid, but I’m just wondering in case this stick has already been opened up.

  1. Could excessive modding ruin/damage the stick?

I’m gonna use the Sanwa stock parts for all fighting games, but I’m gonna swap out the joystick for a Seimitsu LS-32-01 when I play shmups. Since swapping out the joystick should only take about 10 minutes, it doesn’t bother me that I’ll be doing it a lot.

I know that most people who mod their SE sticks only do it the one time- to swap out the stock parts for better quality stuff. So could constantly swapping the joysticks cause any problems?

Mainly I’m thinking that the harness that connects the PCB to the joystick may get loose over time if I keep swapping around because it’s initially glued into place to keep it together, so it may become unstable after a while, I’m not too sure.

What do you guys think?
Any help would be appreciated

Stripping the cheap screws is a bigger concern.

Surely buying some screws isn’t that big a deal though, right?

i think there is a screw under the warranty sticker… therefore, you need to mess up the warranty sticker with a screwdriver in order to remove tha back cover. however, most mods can be completed from the top by removing the top panel only.

That makes sense (the screw under the sticker), at least I know this stick hasn’t been opened up since the sticker is still in place.

Thanks.
