So, I’m guessing the 9th color is just playing them and the 10th color is some X amount of wins? Or vice versa.
Mentioning now you get nothing for winning on ridiculous mode, now to regret the 2 or so hours I spend on it. orz

Ive had colors unlock in unranked matches, for characters i dont use but my opponent was using over and over
The 9th colour palette is by using a character a certain amount of times in Versus mode. (Online or offline.) The 10th palette is unlocked by entering the SNES SF2 mirror match code in the offline Versus screen. This code unlocks the 10th palette for the entire roster. The code is Down R1 Up L1 Square X on PS3. It is Down RB Up LB Y B on Xbox. See this thread for details: 10th palette

Color 9: Win in Versus (Offline or Online) 25 times with that character. Win = that character deals the winning blow, not just be on the team.
