what up T-kimura i havent play you in a minute i use to be KiD on kaillera donno if you remember but hit me up if you wanna play aim is ooolilvietboyooo and sorry if i disapoint you if i am a scrub
Man, I remembered when I first came on Kaillera and played stunner, he was beasting on me. Since then I at least got my game a bit more organized. Yeah, Kaillera is a lot more scrubbier than a year or year & a 1/2 ago. Big 5 retired, no stunner, barely see obiwan kenbobi, no darknatas around, mostly everyone left. Kind of sucks overall, Chibi, Ryu1999, Darkonesun, and Quinton McLeod are probably the few I see now that I’ve seen back then.
Everyone got older and moved on. I’ve been through a few playing partners now, and I dissapear myself quite a lot. Kaillera was good about 4 years ago, but it will never get to that point again. We used to have almost nightly mame updates, and hacking was still unheard of. I think a lot of people wanted to learn back then, and lots of people started out at the same level. Thats simply not the case anymore. Kaillera is now hacker filled with hackers and is extremely unstable/laggy. This was not the case before. We had snausage fingerz, fugu and a bunch of other good servers. Theres no reason to update mame anymore, and actually, itd be better with a downgrade, as the current popular mame sucks compared to the older, faster, better control mames.
What you’re really seeing is the mirror of the arcade industry, on a time lag. Kaillera 4 years ago was catching up to the arcade industry in terms of releases. The problem is…it kind of got there. There are only a few big names missing that were in the arcades, but the arcades themselves kind of died because of a lack of released games. With current technology, most people can’t play these new games, and the internet itself most likely needs to be faster in order for that information to be sent. What we have is a stagnant game pool, and as a result, the play pool had high attrition with no replacements. Pretty much everyone that had ability moved onto other things because they’ve already played these games and got bored, and newer people didn’t replace the old learning people because of the age of the games. What you have left are people that won’t be able to improve past their current points. They’d be great players to help round out a player base, but they’re awful if they’re the only people comprising the said player pool.
So how do we fix kaillera? We’d need more 2d fighters to be released in the arcades, be popular, and then be emulated. How do we fix the fighting game arcade industry? We don’t. Its dead. It had a great run, but all things need to come to an end. It might revive in about 20 years, when everythings turned over again. But by then we’d all probably be out of it, and thats probably the entire point. Or maybe something newer, more revolutionary will come along, and capture the hearts and imagination of old and new players alike. But that doesn’t seem to happen with anything with our current generation…
OOOO. Im a veteran.
Big5 retired cause he became the best on Kaillera, He beat Nibor at his own house and then he retired. He still plays Alpha 3 tourny tho and Casual at his place. But mostly he’s on xbox live now
I dont think arcades is dead just yet. I still play games at my local gameworks every once in awhile. Too bad gameworks charges double the cost of what arcades were back in the day. I usually play racing games and a few fighters like mvc2 and soul caliber 2. I just buy the all day card which is cheaper. One of the reasons i spend my time on kaillera is because it rids me of boredom and becuase its free. I dont care if its a little laggy or if people suck. I play it because its free, free, freeeeeeeeeeeee damn it.
first off Player -X- used infinites.
So did Sk8erfox. How do I know? I was on his clan.
Second. Sk8erfox sucked. He was good, but he made himself sound better than he was. I was the best person on the clan, and the only player in the clan that people respected. That’s cause he talked too much shit.
Best players on Kaillera, IMO, when it was doing well. Player -X-. Darkcloud, Crescent Surfer.
I’ts hard to even have a normal match on Kaillera without some one joining and trying to close the game. Even though I have the patch they can’t do jack squat, but it doesn’t stop them from flooding and doing other stupid things. (Joining…leaving…joining…saying things like “can I join? can I play?” etc.) I usually play King of Fighters 2002 with YabukiStyle since he’s the only one I know from SRK that plays well and knows what he is doing.
well…its not THAT bad actually
but I mostly find good challenge on SFA3 like ryu1999 and that L.T guy and there are good ppl still…
I would like to try mark of the wolves but that rom never works also maybe KOF but Im not really into that game.
We may be taking these scrubs for granted. Id like a challenge every now and then, but I dont mind playing someone I know I’ll beat because I can learn from them. Im always learning in VS no matter how much they might turtle or use tactics repetively that dont work for 27 rounds and still use them. You might be suprised from what you can learn from a scrubby player.
I guess you do bring up a good point. Some times one can learn something from a scrub. But it’s all about the fun though.
lol, like that actually means something…
I still think it funny that big used Nash’s flash kick vism combo… I fell out in teh beginning, blocked all of those well timed flashkicks, then did the jab to throw reset… all while I was on the ground blocking…
But seriously, kaillera scene is pretty much dead, I think its better to do what most people are doing right now… keeping matchmaking to a smaller crowd, use private servers, and avoid all the mess of everything. I’d still like to see the scene revived, but itll be hard to try and get back where we were.
And Ramon - youre not the same Ramon that I learned how to play kof 98 w/ so many years ago? Man, when I look back then… from not knowing jack to where I am now… not much has changed. Darn.
If youre accusing him of macro’s… Why would you fall out if the macro’s timed? And thats why Big went to Nibors house. He also wins tournies irl, he’s not just a kaillera wonder, trust me =P
Hellsap;
I doubt I know you.
On a different note I think I saw you playing in a Guilty Gear XX #Reload video. You were Zappa and Faust. You and a Johnny player had this moment where you two kept walking back and forward for a few seconds. That sure was…something. I’d sure like to fight you in Guilty Gear XX #Reload some time though.
Later,
ive never heard of big5 in my life, unless he’s a known player that goes by another nickname.
He’s a really good A3 player. If u know Alex Navarro (which I’m sure you do) he usually goes with him to ECC every year I think
He’s the hispanic guy with long braids
Tony? He’s mad chill, actually, and yeah, he’s good offline…I guess he would fall into that 1% category of players that play on kaillera that are actually good.
random name dropping is silly though.
hmmm…yeah kailleria’s got a lot of scrubs like this fellow (forgot his name) who was extremly repetitive. he literaly just kept doing Terry’s Burning Knuckle about the whole time : /
hey, hey… I just bring it up sometimes cause I think it was pretty funny. Though with all the name throwing (on kaillera, jeez), I have heard he was friends with navarro before.
and that vid, hah… I wish the other ones were posted… I was a nervous wreck after getting owned as faust… I blame the busted pad. hah. The turtling part was just to get the psychological advantage and calm me down, but definitely can be used as good evidence that 90% of kaillera = scrubs.
but terrys burn knuckle should be done all the time… safe chipping, cancelled from typically unsafe moves… fast… man, I hope you werent talking about me…
