720s FTW! (T-Hawk thread)

I think St.MP is a pretty good poke too. Cr.MK is okay though.

As for the Ken Jab DP, if you’re not good enough or too scared to grab him out of it, do a St.RH.

:expressionless: I got smacked out of st.hk. Maybe it was too laggy.

If you can’t even do it with St.RH, CR.MP.

St.:mk: is a little slower on startup, but it’ll definitely give you +6 frame advantage if it connects, whether on hit or block…and it hits mid.

Even so…don’t forget about his weak attacks.

The biggest upside to the Cr.MK is the fact that yes, it recovers fast, and you can link it with St. Neutral Jab.

St.MP can poke shoto’s out of their Hado’s on reaction.

has anyone here been snatched out of a reversal by t hawk or zangief, also how is this possible if using a temporarily invincible super is supposed to put you in an unthrowable state? thats some BS. Also it wasnt an off the ground reversal it was in the middle of being ticked(and yes I saw a reversal message).

Reversal doesn’t mean unthrowable. You can reversal fireball all you want and still get taken for a ride.

You can also reversal jab shoryuken, then get thrown anyway because jab shoryuken has a couple of throwable frames at startup - they’re after the first hitting frame, but that doesn’t mean squat if the grappler is out of your shoryuken range and you’re in their throw range. This also applies for reversal Honda headbutts, etc.

On speed 3 though I think ken gets into the air before he can be thrown, when I taped it, it was like 2 startup frames then he jumped into the air. Ryu is slower though.

I’ll try harder jiggly, it was a particularly laggy match.

What’re the best options against a knocked down Ken in the corner? Anyone?

Good stuff vs Damdai with Hawk. You were basically there with him the whole match. A few telegraphed dives hurt and eating FB’s (but that’s going to happen). I really notice that when Ken whiffed a DP, when you had meter, you didn’t land the super only a reg 360. I think this happened maybe 3+ times. I don’t remember if it cost you the round, but if you got that down pat, you’d be ending the matches that much faster and the fear of a whiffed DP costing that much life will change Ken’s gameplan.

With most chars, when I play against Ken, I just wait to see what he does after a corner knockdown, but only a split second. If he’s smart and not nervous he will do nothing or just FB, not DP or jump.

Against any Ken or against Damdai’s Ken? Against Damdai, not much. He’s very capable of reversal Fierce Shoryuken on command, which makes safe jumps risky. Hell, it makes meaties risky. Other than bait and punish, which you did very well in the latest match I watched, I can only think of Jab DP outside Shoryuken’s range. Hawk’s DP can stuff Ken’s vulnerable Shoryukens at a certain range. However, vs Damdai’s Strong Shoryuken, that may also be risky.

Yeah, I was referring to a Ken on Damdai’s level. Fierce DP is a pain in the ass.

Yes sir, it is. Literally. And I’ve been on the receiving end of quite a few myself at the hands of DGV and John Choi’s Ken. As happy as I am that damdai is making my main look good (makes me wonder what’s going on in Vegas that he didn’t win this year’s EVO), I also know how frustrating it can be to beat a good Ken. But with some players, hate and anger makes them better players, as DSP likes to say. Personally, I say “Don’t get mad, get even.” Counterpick that blonde fairy with Dhalsim, Claw or Boxer. Hell, even Ryu will do. And isn’t Ryu your alternate? Blaze him up with Flaming Hadokens.

I thought jiggly’s alt was dic? :wonder:

My alt is Dictator. I like to screw around with Boxer, Ryu, Blanka, and Dhalsim a lot though.

I don’t wanna counter pick damdai. No need if I know I can beat him. I just wanna figure out my options after a knock down.

Ah ok. I thought you had mentioned Ryu being one of the characters you use, in some thread or another around here. I KNOW Dictator is your alternate, he’s in your bloody avatar. :looney: I meant someone with an advantage over Ken. But yeah, I guess you could just try to get the health advantage and then turtle like crazy. God knows Hawk is an expert at that thanks to Honda.

Lol, I don’t really run away once I get the health advantage, but I normally back off. Helps immensely.:china:

I have a question, is hawk supposed to be able to grab his opponent’s into a slam when his bluebox overlaps the opponent’s bluebox?

I ask this question because of this http://tinypic.com/r/2v2v0ye/4
In the video you’ll see me performing hawk’s spd a number of times, whiffing on the majority while hawk’s and honda’s blue boxes overlap.

Short answer is no. Grabbing versus wiffing has to do with the throws range (which isn’t visualize or represented by the training mode hit boxes). Throw range is a parameter completely separate from the blue hitbox. In the video Hawk was probably just outside of throw range and so he just wiffed repeatedly.

Can someone help me on this one? I play the 360 and PS3 version of this, and I noticed something very different. On PS3 all online by the way…i havent checked local yet, but I normally block my crossovers like i would normally with Hawk, and I succeed. But when I play 360, I block crossovers like i normally would, but end up getting hit 95% of the time with hawk. Now is this normal? I wouldnt make a big deal about it, but it throws me entirely off when i have to do sumtin in reverse.

And I really suck at fighting Guile, any tips? Only thing I got so far is that I can sometimes jump up straight HK and stop his jumping fierce lol.

And as for M Bison, I can handle myself when a bison flukes or gets knocked down by timing my tick perfectly. but how do u get into him if he spams that rapid jab all day. I see what works for me is to jump in jab, but playing agaisnt someone good, he usually stops me with jumping strong or a jump back attack.
