Do any hawk mains in here use an unmodified JLF stick? I just can’t do the new (or old) 720 super motion for the life of me fast enough (I usually do it during a jump) due to the JLF spring not having enough tension. I also get magic DPs most of the time too
I can rest easy tonight. Checkmate, Mexican Typhoon.
720 is no longer with us. I usually do it with :hcf:, :hcf::uf:+:p:
I’m used to saying 720 and I know about the new motion. Contrary to what Sirlin said, a 720 does still work too. Interesting way to end that motion in “up-right”, I’ll try that tonight.
There is no 720, I talked with Sirlin about it. All it is is you doing the HCBx2 command except you’re doing it in a “720” motion.
you’ll also notice that image says Shadowlaw, is it Shadowlaw or Shadaloo? Thunderstrike or Rising Hawk? I think we should all just accept that every move has a couple, or more, ways of referencing them.
i wonder if the cammy people talk about final arrow vs cannon drill, and thrust kick vs cannon spike. At least the deejay people know air slasher is from japan and max out is american.
Capcom canon-ized “Shadowloo” for the US during the Alpha series. That manual was printed before Alpha 1 came out.
final arrow = spiral arrow? lol
T.Hawk’s new 720 motion has a bug in it that requires the throw to be done from neutral but even then the throw comes out in a DP when you end the motion with back…
So does anybody wanna provide some info for the guide?
Ill do whatever you like. I know you said you wanted a cammy matchup. I can give my insight from experience on that matchup if you like. If theres anything else you need we can brain storm on AIM or on here if you want.
I still say Shadowlaw, I don’t give a fuck what anyone says.
So now that Hawk is better, does anyone expect to see him make some noise in tournaments now?
EVO, SBO, NEC?
Definitely so, easily.
It depends…lots of people think Honda is going to become a major character at tournaments (though he still dies to fireballs!).
Honda is a terrible, terrible match for Hawk. So more Honda’s means harder matches and less late round Hawk players.
I honestly don’t see why anyone who is tournament level would switch to Hawk for HDR anyways when anyone from the entire cast but maybe one or two characters (Fei/Cammy) is a more viable choice to win.
Holy crap, Hawk can cross-up with J.RH. I just figured it out yesterday.
^^
WHAT?! Does it actually work on standing opponents or is it crouching opponents only?
I used to cross up with that all the time in Super, but I couldn’t get it to work at all in ST…even wrote a FAQ about it.
If this is the first time this has ever been mentioned, though, it can’t be easy to cross up with. Here’s hoping this fact has more practical value than trivia value.
Why would you want to cross up with anything but down-Fierce?
Yeah seriously. I use jump mk sometimes because when you’re right on their head it can be confusing. Ive seen people mention it before (crossing up with j.rh) but i dont really see the point
Well, your opponent has to block it holding back. It doesn’t attack your opponents back, but it places Hawk cleanly behind your opponent and sets you up for anything that J.Forward or the Hawk Splash do, including combo’s.
Timing for it isn’t that bad either. You can’t jump over your opponent when you’re right next to him like you can with the splash. You need to place yourself a bit further, but still enough distance to jump over him/her. Whip out J.RH when you start coming down, and it should hit your opponents shoulder.
I tested this on the Shoto’s btw. I’ll see if it works on others.
As for its purpose think of it this way. Everyone knows Hawk players cross-up with Splash, and they know you need to block it holding forward. Well say you’re in a clutch, where you’re getting wailed on and your opponent has most of his/her life left. Then you get them with a DP, putting you in a perfect position for a cross-up. They know this. But, you cross-up with J.RH instead, and most of the time it’ll hit since they’ll be blocking in the wrong direction, and this will allow for a ToD. Sounds pretty good to me.
