the roll is also ridiculously safe.(i think) it has only 2 frames of recovery.
a move that can go threw every thing (cept a throw) and has 20+ invincibility frame should have alot more than 2 frames of recovery.
otherwise the un-skilled can just do it without giving it a second thought.

there’s only 15 or so frames of invincibility when do a roll cancel move. and only 3 or 4 characters ahve 2 frame roll recovery. Most have 4 and some have 3 frames. and roll cancel isn’t everything. You have to pick your spots unlike myself who whores out the roll cancels and still be a scrub.

However at Johnny Zees I destroy people who roll at random. There’s this Iori/X/Sagat player who’s entire strategy is to roll at you and try a throw or an uppercut or combo. Last 2, 3 times I’ve played this guy I beat his Iori near perfectly just by throwing his roll on reaction. When he’s Sagat I just combo him when he rolls at me.
At UBC it’s a different ball game. Playing side by side at JZ, you can see the person’s body language and you can sense certain tensions in them and predict almost all of their moves or at least react much quicker. At UBC it’s a Jap. cabinet, so you can lose to HELLA random shit. Also, unless you know someone’s team, you don’t even get to see the person challenging you. They can have people taking turns on diff. characters and playing different strategy each round. I can still punish rolls, but it just seems harder to react… It makes it a much tougher challenege and I think it’s a good thing because it’s making me more safe and more patient.
It’s also the high damage of course that makes it a better challenge. The TIERS are different at UBC. A groove is worse than C and P because customs do around the same damage as Johnny Zees! P groove one parry - combo and it’s like half life! A level 1 super with Chun Li does 50% damage to same ratio. K Groove? All supers do full life. THat’s scary shit, and nobody even uses K that seriously there, so there’s beasting to be done in K there. JAY when the hell are you gonna use K? use NAKORURU in K you’ll own. And Geese.
Iori is really really scary at UBC. Rushdown low jump Nakoruru is also like top tier there. Sakura is probably better in C than A at UBC cause her supers do RIDICULOUS damage, except that her antiair Custom does more than her shoshosho!! That’s also good!
Rugal can do like 100% damage off a level 2. Dhalsim can do 100% in the corner. It’s awesome.
man, i blame it on the shitty japanese sticks, the MAXIMUM damage and the MAXIMUM speed. if it weren’t for those conditions, the random rolls wouldn’t be a problem at all.
anyways, uhhhhh rolls suck dood… lol i dunno what are you talking about, anyone who can’t adapt to rolls in about 2-3 games MAX should go somewhere and practice. rolls suck and if you watch any of the top matches, no one does a lot of rolls except to avoid a cross over. it’s risky as hell and no one really does it

cvs2 is fun ONLY when your opponent doesn’t pick P groove. cuz it then turns into third strike. any other groove is fun and i prefer the gameplay of cvs2 over that of third strike. i hate playing carefully and i’d rather watch out for random supers as opposed to random parries with the same setups.

and then when it comes down to it the air to air game is so un-balanced that you are “not suposed to jump”
it just goes to show that they put very littel thought into the fighting engine.
even less effort was put into testing the game.

if a char has a low or NO RECOVERY move that is complety INVINCIBLE.
