6/11 - Iowa Monthly Series - Cedar Rapids, IA - MvC3, SSF4, T6, MK9

Where: BattleZone Games
85 North Center Point Road
Hiawatha, IA 52233-1400
(319) 378-9663
When: June 11, 2011
What: Tekken 6 Singles, SSF4 singles, and MvC3 singles. SSF4:AE is supposed to be out, I believe, so as long as that doesn’t get postponed or anything, we’ll be playing AE instead of normal Super.
This is a VGF sanctioned event! (Read below for more.)

INFO ABOUT VENUE:

This is a small gaming shop, but it should have plenty of room for us. They only have a vending machine, but there is a Dairy Queen and a few gas stations only a couple blocks away, as well as a Wal-Mart and a bunch of eateries just a couple minutes away. On the plus side, it’s right off the interstate so super easy to find. The parking lot is kinda small but should be able to hold everyone. Just in case, there are other businesses and residential areas right around it that you can use.

TOURNAMENT INFO:

Tournaments start at 1 PM. I'll be there about noon to set-up shop, so feel free to come a little early for casuals and whatnot.

T6: 3/5 rounds, 2/3 matches until finals, then it'll switch to 3/5 matches.
SSF4: 2/3 rounds, 2/3 matches until finals, then 3/5 matches.
MvC3: 2/3 matches until finals, then 3/5 matches.

Mortal Kombat: 2/3 rounds, 2/3 matches until finals, then 3/5 matches.

Finals are considered to be Losers Finals, Winners Finals, and Grand Finals. Double-elimination for all.

ENTRY FEE: EF will be $5 for MK9, T6 and Street Fighter at a 70/20/10 split. Marvel will be $10 and we'll do a 60/15/10/5/5/5. Top placers are getting a little less, but this way we can pay to top 5, which I like better. Also, there is a venue fee of $2.

VGF SANCTIONED:

As mentioned above, this is a VGF sanctioned event. To find out more about us, visit our site linked below. What does this mean for you as a player? It’s free, incredibly quick/easy to register, and most importantly, qualifies you for free prizes!

VGF

Last time we had 20+ people, so I’d like to see this keep growing. Take time off if you need to, find a babysitter, stop jerking it, and make it out.

I will be there again, gotta support Iowa. Also, I will bring a setup (including CRT) to run a side tournament for an old game for probably $1 entry. Vote for which game you want me to run and it shall be so, my plan is a different game each time (though once we get through the more mainstream ones I won’t be opposed to recycling). Let’s start with just these few first

-HDR
-Third Strike
-CVS2
-Guilty Gear AC
-Tekken Tag

(a poll for the thread where the votes are hidden would be amazing!)

I actually don’t think I can add a poll after the thread has already posted. Maybe I’m wrong? If so, let me know how to do it and I’ll add it.

Also, I completely forgot to put MK9 in the original post. We WILL be having MK and had planned on it before I posted this up, I simply forgot to put it in. For right now, since this is it’s first run in our monthly, I’ll just be putting it at $5 EF. I’ll evaluate that after this tourny.

As long as nothing crazy happens, I should be there as usual. As for Grog’s side tournament, I’ll throw in a couple bucks to get my ass handed to me in any of those games. One of these months Vamp and I might have to add in a mystery tournament for the lulz!

CvS2

Oh, and we’re stock-piling TVs for future events, so we should have a couple of extra TVs. If anyone can bring systems w/ games, that would be great. PS3, preferably. It’s best to keep things Evo-standard.

Even though you’re stock-piling TV’s, still want Monitors brought out if possible? Its pretty easy for me to bring mine each time. Also, more videos will be taken at future monthlies as I will get the camera rolling earlier.

Yeah, monitors are cool. I’m just throwing it out there in case people are willing to bring their systems but don’t want to haul around their TVs.

So did anyone have a system they could bring? Again, we got TVs covered, just need an extra system or 2 so we can have a couple more stations.

I would if I owned a PS3.

A group of friends and I will be there for the first time. Also might have some consoles you can use.

Sounds great. We’re all about continued growth. Let me know for sure if you have the systems to spare and we’ll make sure we bring enough TVs.

Reminder that this is less than a week away. Get HYPE?!

Grog - 3rd Strike or HDR. Also, you forgot to list Kururin Squash, sir. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well i think i will have one console to bring and a smaller group then expected.

CVS2 will not be making an appearance Saturday, I’ll bring my Xbox but would people enter HDR if I ran that? $1 entry most likely.

Honestly, I’d play any of the ones you listed. And then some. So yes to me playing HDR.

Same

I have pretty much everything on the PS2, including CvS2. Let me know if anyone wants me to bring it, just need a CRT to play it on.

I will be there around 11am. ^^
